I think it looks great just the way it is! If you're decorating for resale, I wouldn't do another thing. It looks lovely. People don't look at every picture on the wall etc. when buying a home. Having it neat and non cluttered is the most important thing to me. I think the SS wall color is perfect with the bedding - very serene and relaxing.

The wood floors look great against that color too. Those are the things you want people to remember when they tour your house.

My only suggestion would be to remove the fan when showing the house - they may think the house gets warm at night etc... I have a fan in my bedroom too - love the air flow and sound at night.

I agree with caroleoh that your room looks very serene. Love the color of the walls. Your curtains look fine. The only advise I will give you (and I second the fan)is when you get to the point of showing the house, I would just remove the chair. The less furniture the bigger the room will seem. We did this in a house we were getting ready to sell. Anything we really didn't need in a room, we stuck in a corner of the garage. It really made a difference. So if you can give up the chair, the TV and even the wastebasket for a while, your room will seem even more uncluttered and larger. Hope you sell fast and for a good price!

I am also selling my house. I agree that you should clear out some furniture. I would take down the picture of your child and the little pic above the TV. Maybe put the portrait of the girl together with the little pic above TV--but in a different spot. Make it look more important. Declutter underneath the nightstand. Not sure what the fan thing is on top of the dresser, but I would get rid of it. I would probably clear off the perfumes, etc. on the dresser. Do you have an agent? Mine gave me advice on how and what to change.

Nowadays it seems you have to stage your house to make it look like a model home where nobody really lives there. No personal photos, nothing on top of dressers, everything pared down, simple. The windows look good as is and the paint color is great too. Good luck in selling your home.

Wow. You've made some terrific changes! The room looks great. Love the white curtains! All you need to worry about now is some last minute "day of showing" details.

A rule of thumb when showing a house, is *no electronics* in the bedroom. Remove the TV and the stand, remove the humidifier/fan too. If you keep your cell phone charger in there, remove that too. Remove all personal pictures. The black/white portrait though breaks this rule. It works. It seems more like art, like the other drawing on the wall by the window. Stores even sell generic black/white pics of anonymous children to hang in homes and people buy them. The tiny colorful photos have to go along with anything else personal left out. Put the perfumes away in a draw. The chair is too small and out of scale with the rest of the furniture and not very pretty. It cramps the space. It can go. Let them see more of the beautiful wood floors in there. Get rid of the plastic garbage pail. The lamps look 'OK' and I would not waste money on new ones. You already have blinds and you say you cannot afford new ones, so I would just make sure they are CLEAN and in good repair when showing the house. It looks like yours are already. One the day of the showing put some fresh flowers in the room.

Jane, can you tell me where you found that dresser? I love the rosewood! Room looks great, btw. I second and third all the advice to pull those few extra things out....chair, electronics, etc. Good luck!

I would do as others have said in removing electronics and personal belonging. Other than that, I LOVE your wall color. Your bedroom looks inviting and I am sure will be a plus in selling your home.

I just want to say I'm in shock. Somehow I was trying to prepare myself for a lot of criticism. Staging my house has been 'design on a dime' effort. Although, no matter how hard I try, it has been a lot of dimes.

I am so 'uncreative' it isn't funny. I do like the feel of the room, but never would have thought of doing this if I were staying. To keep costs down, I decided to do a lean, clean look. I wasn't sure it worked.

Wow, what a sense of relief. I'll fool with the artwork and get rid of the chair. The tv will have to wait till last minute as will the air cleaner. I want to point out that after having all the rooms painted, the floors refinished I could not tolerate the chemical odors. We almost stayed in a hotel for a week, but somehow managed. Being Winter, it was too cold to leave windows open for long. I got sick as did my son. I purchased two air cleaners (picture) and have changed the filters twice. It really helped. The paints and poly were bad.

Jane, when I had home by a painter, I could not sleep in my room or work due to the fumes and I used BM Paint. Next time, I am using a NO Voc or as low as possible VOC paint. I am very chemically sensitive so I understand how sick you got. You did a great job staging that beautiful bedroom.

Just wanted to add this: my very first reaction upon seeing the first pic was to take a relaxing sigh. That says it all.
Beyond that, ditto on all the removals. Okay, now give us another room!:>)
