Helpful hint for those who post photos

I have literally thousands of photos I've taken in recent travels, hikes and road trips. And I love to post some daily here at the KT.

As such, it's easy to forget over the weeks, months or years which ones I've posted.

To mark the pics I've posted, I add a period (.) to the beginning of the description line under each photo I've used. That way I can quickly scan all photos in an album and see which haven't been seen.

Now that's not to say I haven't posted photos more than once, but when I do, it's usually intentional.

Hope that helps organize your photo sharing. And PLEASE share ... it is so cool to see all your photos!

Thanks, Jodi. I post one of my dad's pics on Facebook every morning, and now that I've posted 380 of them, I sometimes wonder if I'm about to post a duplicate.

That is only one way that I personally know to get the dreaded red X.But that is not THE ONLY way I am sure. (Sheri,please don't think I am blaming you,,, it happens:-) I have certain friends and for some reason we cannot send each other email with photos. Apparently our computers do not communicate as we only get red x instead of photos.I can send the same shot to other friends and they get the photos perfectly clear. I do not use photobucket but use webshots so I am only familiar with how Webshots works. So my hope for this thread is that others will share what they know and we can get to the bottom of it and enjoy all yer pictures. Does photobucket have a place to send a question like that? That would be beneficial. As I said I am not an expert with photobucket so maybe someone out there is. Hopefully others will hear our plea!:-) C'mon all you junkers ,lets figure this thing out.

I'm not feeble, but certainly forgetful, Memo. Last night I found some of my Butterflies that I placed on a Web site back in 2006. I had forgotten about it! I could do a spreadsheet, since my photos are not consistently labeled, and cross reference them so I don't have to look through 3 different months to find a hydrangea and could easily find hydrangeas from 3 different years. It makes my head 'bizzy' to think about it. Would probably only take a year to catch up from 2003. Some of my photos from 2003 - 2005 are on a web site that now belongs to a server that bought my former server. I can't access it to make changes, just look, LOL. Good thing somebody else proofed most of it for spelling and grammar. Maybe I'm the only one who worries about finding and comparing old photos instead of just making new ones, LOL. This will certainly help me when I get to pull up my carpeting! Although it's been several years since we've had a puppy to train,(mine truly do not have accidents; I am very fortunate, but there is still the occasional upset tummy & vomiting!) I know that those odors do stay in the padding and subflooring, no matter how many times you steam clean the carpeting! Thanks for this important tip- I have made a note of it!

Good idea, although I don't post pictures much.

Jodi, do you do side work? I need 2 pictures combined but can't do it.

That is a great idea, but only if you're not using those photos in InDesign documents - it would break the link by changing the file names. :/

Chloecat, I'm just referring to photos posted here linked to online image storage like Photobucket.

You can change the title/description til the cows come home without any problems but if you change the actual file name, boom, broken link.

Ah. I don't use online storage - so I only use filenames. :)

You can post photos directly from your hard drive? Are you using 'the cloud'?
