For those who like garden photos....

My dl's are not at peak bloom yet, but I took some over all shots of my gardens today and thought some of you might enjoy them. Several had requested that I post some. I'll take more when the dl's peak. Here's a couple to whet your appetite, but I'll post a link to my Garden album rather than burden those on dial up with so many large files.

Very nice gardens and well manicured too. Nice large roaming place for Lillie. I like the way your trees frame the garden. Is that a magnolia tree on the right?

Saucy, I agree you should go to the PC information gathering. I am not aware of how the PC operates very well since 1966! But I would like to add that there was great caution about health with removal of all molars whether they needed removal or not, experimental inoculations with explanations only afterwards, etc. I somewhat understand this, and expect you do too from your navy experiences, BUT...!!!!Also they were big on psychological evaluations and causing grief by trying to remove quite competent people from the program. (DH was one of those!) Also there was much treating us like children, surprise checkups, holiday and travel restrictions, etc. Personally I would rather do the work I dream of independently of an organization. I'd prefer to teach abroad, or work on bridge development, or whatever without the mothering. Certainly there are advantages too: quick evacuation, housing, sometimes doctors and vehicles. Money is NOT one of the advantages, though at the time (age 23) there was little to spend on. As an older person with children (they don't accept these kind of folks I believe unless the children are beyond school age) I'd be more concerned about income and so on. Just some of my morning thoughts. Photos: Saucy, this should remind you of photos you posted earlier. These are decorative tombstones in the Efik area of Eastern Nigeria. The faces and hands are painted pink or white oddly enough. Here are photos of the children of DH's school principal, Mr Nsofor. This is sports Day, 1965. DH played guitar with the Tex Dandies in town on a number of occasions. The child, Okereke, skillfully danced along in front. The tall man to the left was a PC man as well, and he was well loved by PC volunteers as well as locals. And here is yours truly with (now) DH November 7th, 1966 at our send-off party. (We were married in '68)The man to the right is DH's friend from Cornell University who taught at the same school. The Nigerian lady is Cecelia Ahaonu, also a teacher at the school. This is the thread that enabled me to buying some crested, damask and moss roses. I bought Leda, Nuits de Yong, Cresida and Bella Donna. They are still in pots, but most had nice blooms. This is Bella Donna This is a bud on Nuits de Young My First Leda Bloom and some buds. The buds did suffer a bit in some late cold weather which caused the blooms to be a bit deformed. But they were still pretty and have a great fragrance.

Cosmo_1, You can open a photobucket account for free. Many people use it. I prefer Imageevent which has an annual fee but it has a lot of options I like. Once you have opened a photobucket account, you can upload photos to photobucket from your computer. After photos have been uploaded to photobucket, you can copy the HTML Code for a photo into a GardenWeb message (right-click the box to the right of HTML Code and select COPY, then paste that into a GardenWeb message). I'm glad you posted this! Very often someone will mention a recipe here and next thing you know someone posts a recipe that they say they make and it's obvious its from an internet site. No mention of the original or credit given to them. A gal up the street from me put a recipe on her blog that came from the Food Network website. Innocent enough so she thought. She got an email from the network asking to see the permission she had to post it. Of course she didn't have it and they made her remove it. I think people just think if its on the internet its theirs for the taking and that's just not so.

I LOVE your garden, but the prettiest flower in it is Lilly.
I have a Gizmo who loves to go out and follow me around begging for attention, like he never gets any. Maybe he is just telling me how pretty the flowers are. He looks for a frog he saw last year, but I think froggy high tailed it. Thanks for posting, I'm so busy right now I hardly have time to post much. But for your amusement, here is God Save the Queen.

Linda...thanks, and peak bloom photos will be forth coming, I hope. LOL

Dot...Lillie loves to hide in my dl's. I think she can surprise the little critters who try to move in that way. I'm having way to many chipmunks tunneling in my garden lately so maybe she'll scare some away. Love your pic of GSTQ, it's a beautiful dl.

Jan, I loved browsing through all your photos...thank you! For the life of me, I can't figure out how you take care of all of it by yourself. Just mowing must be an all day chore. You've done a fantastic job!

Jan, your property is to beautiful! I can't imagine how hard you work to maintain 3 acres. Everything always looks so neat and well-maintained. Daylilies are already looking good. Can't wait for your peak bloom season.

Your garden is spectacular. I love the split rail fence with the roses on it. So wonderful to look out and see trees instead of houses and cars.

Lillie is a cutie and I just loved the pictures around the garden. Your pond and Japanese Iris are gorgous. I just envy you all that room. You have done such a great job with it all.
