Here is a neat site where you can list all your hand made items for sale. Some beautiful things to buy made by many talented people. So buyers beware! Looking could cause you to spend money. I couldn't resist a lovely stained glass window panel of a Robin with Lily of the Valley.

I think our very own Flamingo sells on that site. Yes, there are some lovely things there.

I love Etsy, it's a great place to buy and sell, and Phyllis is correct, I do have a shop there and sell something every now and then. Jenni also has a shop. I think Steph does, too. It's fun to see what's new and if you collect something, it's easy to search for your type of item, be it dog, cat, mosiac, glass, etc. They have a great search engine. The amount of talent and creativity is astounding.

I've bought some of the nicest soaps there from magichands and lots of fabrics and patterns (e-patterns are great, no shipping and you get them almost instantly) and some custom order things. Etsy is great fun.

In the early 1980s, I also arranged home party needlecraft demos for the Creative Circle. Their kits included crewel embroidery, cross stitch, needlepoint, and applique projects. The guests had a lot of fun! Some of them bought the full-sized kits, some did not - they just came for the party kit and to socialize, which is also great! I looked up Creative Circle online, and the needlecraft company site said nothing about home parties, but they do sell kits online now. There is also a different company called Creative Circle that is a "recruiting and consulting services company". They have nothing to do with needle crafts. I still have, and display, my samples from when I was a party consultant. They are very high quality and beautiful.

I love this thread and glad to see it back! I am kind of hit and miss at doing crafts. I have done lots of the glass garden totems, I posted some pics here of them some time ago. And I do make jewelry as my hands allow these days. Right now I have been named Project Manager for our Garden Club and I come up with crafts and projects we can all do for fun and also to sell at our yearly sale. This is one of the more recent ones I taught them and I made for the sale. They are fall leaf covered candle holders. Super easy.

Welcome! As you already know, this forum is a great place to learn and share your successes as well as things that did not work out exactly as you had planned. I too learned to quilt by reading quilting books. The first few quilt tops that I made I paid someone else to quilt for me because I was intimidated by the quilting process. I then took a machine quilting class at my LQS and found out how fun the quilting process can be. I have a great book called "Quilting makes the Quilt" which shows how the quilting that is chosen can dramatically change the way a finished quilt looks. I love the quilting process. Someone on this forum once mentioned Quilt University (www.quiltuniversity.com) and I looked into it. Since then I have taken many on-line classes from QU and I love it. I have found it to be much more convenient than a local class because I can do the assignments according to what works best in my schedule. While I found learning from a quilt book to be adequate, I found taking a class rapidly improved my technique and gave me all sorts of good hints/tips. I know QU offers a beginning quilting class as well as a machine class. You might consider looking into one of these. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

Sorry if I'm repeating...haven't read all the comments. Michael Payne and Designing for the Sexes rocked!!! That was real talent and class, and you always learned something about design. I also really enjoyed Decorator's Challenge and Landscapers Challenge because these were actual talented designers who gave 3 unique perspectives on one project. Now everything on HGTV looks exactly the same ( i.e. gray walls, hardwood floors, too many randomly patterned throw pillows, contemporary furniture). Where's the variety? Bring back Chris Casson Madden (Interiors by Design) and Joann Liebler (Room by Room), Mission Organization, Donna and Shannon Freeman (Secets That Sell), Before and After, Dream House, Weekend Warriors (a personal favorite) Susie Coehlo (Surprise Gardener), Debbie Travis (The Painted House) and shows like Location, Location, Location that showed different aspects of people purchasing homes. I am rather annoyed by how House Hunters is always about a bickering couple who can't agree on style, but at 22 can always afford to buy their dream home. How about showing a variety of homebuyers again; older people, singles, working parents who can't afford to gut and renovate. I'd like to see people with more modest budgets take the homes they purchase and turn them into something wonderful. And for those who are not familiar with any of these shows or hosts, you really missed a treat. This was HGTV at its prime. Believe it or not, long before the last season or two of Divine Design, and long before that crap Candice Tells All, Candice Olsen actually used to design rooms without mirrored furniture, espresso wood, and ice blue and gray. Anyone remember the sherbert colored sunroom or the kitchen with the blue strie (sp?) cabinets? Those were the days... Not that the Property Brothers arent't good, and I do particularly like Hillary Farr's style (even if she can't budget worth a darn), but enough is enough. And don't get me started on Genevieve. She sucked on Trading Spaces! Now if the would just dig up the Designer Guys from the Discovery Channel, all would be well. Anyone who can design a woman's apartment around a man's suit and make it look fabulous is okay in my book. Done with my rant....i'll get back to work

I love Etsy! It is so easy to list things and the fees are so incredibly low.
You can spend hours just looking around!

A friend of mine told me about this site. If I ever get photos of my art work I will someday sell them on Etsy.

My sister has a site on there too. She's a quilter, soap maker, etc. She's really talented in the artsy/crafty field. Not me. But I wish I was.

This is great! Maddielee just told me that I can buy a disposable camera and have the photos put on CD. With that I can post pictures of my paintings to sell them

Geesh, how come I am the last to know about this Etsy.

Actually, my first buying experience did not go all that smoothly. The artist's description of my desired purchase said it was 19" x 17" oval. And that she would ship it in a wood box to protect her work and shipping is $25.00. So I click to buy it and print out my invoice. Went to the Post office and got a money order for the final amount on the invoice. Before mailing it, I got an email from the seller saying it will be $15.00 more for shipping with the wood box. I relented and sent the extra $15. When it came, the actual measurements of the item was 16" x 14", not the 19 x 17 as described. The size was important to me and a deciding factor in my buying it.

I am a little unhappy, but it is beautiful and I will keep it. I emailed the seller and she was appropriately dismayed that this "mistake" was made and said that she would refund $25.00 of the money I sent. I haven't seen it yet, but it is early. This experience won't keep me from future purchases, but I wlll be asking a lot more qestions of the seller in the future.
