Hi, I'm Jo Ann, 59 yrs old. Born & raised in N.J., moved to Fla 37 yrs ago. Married 37 yrs, I have 1 son and 2 stepchildren, 8 grand kids. One blue & gold Macaw parrot. I love the beach but haven't been in a while. I've worked in restaurants most of my life. No particular hobbies at the moment, but have done all kinds of crafts.

I'm Linda, well make that "justlinda". When I signed up they wanted me to pick somewhere between Linda 01 and Linda 737, but they accepted justlinda so that's how my name came about! I am 63 years young and try everything once ~ maybe more if I'm not sure...lol.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and lived there for 32 years; moved to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and lived there for 18 years; moved to Courtenay, Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia and have lived here for 13 years.

We have a travel trailer and have been all over Canada and the USA in it. My family consists of: Husband, son, daughter, 3 grandkids, and my furbaby Sophie.

One of my passions is making rugs of all kinds, doing stained glass, knitting/crochet and just plain tinkering with junk.

I love this site, and feel like it's one big playground as there's always something to satisfy whatever my heart's desire is.

Jack of all trades ~ master of none...yup, that's me!!!!

Getting To Know Us All . . . Let's Do Quirky

    Q

    Comments (58)
    1) Part of the country I live in: Florida 2) One quirky/odd/interesting/funny thing about where I live: People leave five open car lengths between them and going through a green light. Two cars get through. Everyone shops out of the middle of the isle. Very few people are from here. We can’t wait until the vacationers leave so we can get into our locals. 3) Two or three quirky things you do NOT know about me: What’s not quirky about me? I don’t like touching door handles going into business, restaurants ect. If I have to I use the up side of my left hand. I do not like it if someone wants to taste my drink. All I can think of is if they flossed or not or what they may have had in their mouth that is now floating around in my drink. I think men who spit in public should need a public stoning. 4) Any weird or funny phobia? No real phobias but I don’t particularly like spiders. 5) Two interesting/funny/ quirky things about my family: Everything my husband is good at I am not. Everything I am good at husband is not. It’s easy to figure out who gets what job during remodels. My husband smells and sniffs everything he puts on. I have two dogs a Rottweiler and Maltese. The Rottweiler thinks he’s a Maltese and the Maltese thinks she is a Rottweiler. All the women in my family are extremely strong willed. 6) Item and age of the oldest piece of clothing I still wear: Nothing I can think of except I collect vintage pins. My DH/SO/Family HATES this item that I love and refuse to get rid of: In my quest for an all-cotton, knee length sleeveless nightgown I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted so bought a Ralph Lauren loud floral print gown. I look like a clown in it but it’s cozy. I can’t recall exactly what he said but it wasn’t nice. He hates my stored paint and wants me to use the same color in every room to cut down of cans in the garage. He hates the tufted headboard I got at a garage sale. 8)Favorite thing to do when I have an hour or so free at home and no one around to bother me and no work. Well I haven’t had time due to renovations but in a few months I’ll have my very own room to sit and paint in. 9) If I could somehow have another career with, miraculously, the college or training already behind me, I would: I’m not sure I could pick one. There is so much to know and learn about with so many things. I enjoy anything creative. 10) If I could live anywhere in the world for 3 months among the locals (other than the country I currently live in now) I would love to live: I love Italy and south west England but am always glad to get back to America. 11) One last quirky thing about me: I am more of a man’s girl than a girl’s girl. But, I am better at being a girl’s girl now that I am older and have had more time to figure out the complexities of women… even though I am one. I still don’t get vagueness. I’m a visual learner.

My name is Sally. I live in Lancaster County Pa and - no - I am not Amish. LOL I have 5 sisters and 29 nieces and nephews. I do not have any children, but love my 3 cats as if they were... I have lived in this area all my life and love it. I have been very fortunate in life to have a loving, stable family unit, with very little tragedy to speak of. I am divorced, but we remain very friendly... My SO is a Marine (not currently active) and very proud of it. ( a combat veteran is a whole different breed...) I work for a fantastic company and my job as a sales rep keeps me traveling quite a bit to the southeast US. I like it for the most part, but being alone so much can get old... My home is my cozy sanctuary to unwind. I love to tend to my herb garden and perennials. I bought my first sewing machine last fall, so I am enjoying learning how to use it. I love to tackle almost any project whether it's building a shed, making beef wellington or changing the oil in my truck. I probably own more tools than a lot of men I know... I am a redneck at heart, but clean up pretty good when I need to...

I agree with you michael. I hate posing for pictures too. It is nice to see a few more posts on this topic. I spend all day working on computers that i don't always want to be near one when i get home. Anyway, I am a male, and i love my powertools. My favorite has got to be the recipricating saw. That is why the first part of my name, the second part came from my youngest daughter. Someone asked her where i worked and without missing a beat told them i was the computer geek for the schools. She wants to be one too when she gets older. I already have both of them trained for running all the wires and cables for my house. The are still young enough to not realize that this is really work. lol. Well hope you all had a great day!! Mike

Hey Dena! I just popped over here to see wazzup and saw your post. Nice to meet you! Sounds like you are quite the creative one. I bet you are never afraid to try anything. Did the weddings stress you out, or are you one of people who THRIVE on it? I know you are so very proud of your kids. Thats quite an accomplishment. I reckon they had a good role model, eh?

Hi, I'm Mary Ann, Mare for short. I'm 61, a retired RN. I live in north eastern Pa. I've lived here my whole life except for 2 years that I lived in Ga. I've been back in Pa for 2 yrs. I was married to a great guy for 34 yrs. I've been a widow for 5 1/2 yrs. I have 1 son, 39 who is a Civil Engineer. He and his Wife of 12 yrs live about 10 miles from me. Much to my displeasure I have no grand children but do have a 10 yr old Niece who I am very close to, we spend a lot of time together. She's 10, going on 25.

I've been a member of That Garden Site for about 8 yrs but just started coming to the KT several months ago. I've posted a few times, but mostly lurk. I've learned a lot and enjoy the friendliness an generosity of the "family" here. I haven't met any KTers yet but will hopefully be meeting Sharon_Fl when she comes to visit her family here in Pa later this month. I enjoy spending time with my family, movies, TV, my computer, scrapbooking, reading and cross-stitching.

Hello, I'm Sharon, living in SC. I'm a transplant from Ohio, where I was born and raised. Married for 41 years, out of my 62. Blessed with 3 great children and 2 grandchildren.
My first two children were a year apart, then 15 years later(!!), our third child was born. That's some delay!
DH will retire in a few years, then the marriage will be tested! LOL.
I enjoy reading about what everyone has to say on the KT.
Hobbies include, reading, gardening, sewing, kntting, usual stuff. I have retired from the occupations of, x-ray tech, and office manager.
One of life's highlights, was our trip to Paris, then Egypt, 2 years ago. What an experience!

I'm Janice, age 55 but about 20 in my head. Janice was taken so I use "Jannie" on KT. I'm married, have two grown teen daughters, two cats and a dog. I worked for the government for 31 years, till kidney failure got the best of me. I get dialysis three days a week, I'm on three lists to get a kidney transplant, wish me luck. I love gardening, mostly flowers but this year I started some heirloom tomato plants, and I have a peach tree with about 500 peaches on it right now. I like cooking, too, and eating.

About me. I'm 57 years young and still a bit of a Wild Child ;-). Married to my first DH for 35 years next month. Two grown kids, a DD and DS. DD is my best friend and DS makes me LOL because he is so much like I used to be and doesn't know it or at least refuses to admit it. LOL

I don't do crafts and I'm not creative but I enjoy a lot of different activities. Discovered figure skating (ice) as an adult and love it. I'm having trouble with my little toe right now and really miss it and can't wait to go back. I am a very active Red Hatter and belong to 3 chapters. I love the outdoors, especially the beach and anything around water. Learning to ocean kayak is on my do to list.

I'm pet-mom to two dogs, a Black Lab boy and a Rottie girl,a Desert Tortoise and a Map Turtle.

Both DH and I are California natives from the San Fransisco Bay Area.

Halloween is my favorite holiday and I love to play dress up even when it's not Halloween. My alter-ego is a pirate.

  • mcmann

mcmann here. I'm 58, married for 35 years to a wonderfully accomplished man - I call him my Renaissance man - he has his own successful business, he can cook gourmet meals, paint, decorate, do calligraphy, he enjoys growing heirloom tomatoes, fine art, Persian rugs, jewelry (not for himself, he buys it for me) and our place in the mountains.

I'm far less artistic but I love gardening, sewing, needlework, reading, and antiques. I'm a retired reference librarian for the Free Library of Philadelppahia and I have 3 great children. My eldest son just finished his MBA and is anxiously waiting a promotion. My middle son has found his great passion in life - he just finished his first year of law school and absolutely loves it. And my youngest, my daughter graduated university and is still searching for a career that she loves and is considering going back to school for a horticulture degree.

I'm hoping my husband retires next year and we can spend more times inn the mountains and do a little traveling.

Wow, lot of people here! I'm going to have to read this post tomorrow when I'm not so sleepy. I'm Kathleen, been at the KT for a long time. I'll be 46 in September. I can't believe I'm nearly 50!!!

I'm a nurse, been one for about 5 years now. Working on a med-surg floor that's really rough. Thinking about going to PACU (surgical recovery) or one of the clinics soon. Before that I was a SAHM who did a little market gardening, before that I worked at various clerical jobs and before that I was in the Air Force. Also worked at an onion dehydration plant, fast food and in a casino restaurant as a bus girl.

I'm divorced and have two kids, boy and a girl. We have a dog, Luther. Lauren had a fish, beta but she died a couple weeks ago.

I love gardening and recently expanded my veggie garden by taking out our above ground pool. Used to do a lot more crafty stuff but don't have the time anymore.

    Stepping out of Lurkdom...
My name is Annie and I've been a GW member since 2001 (I think). I live way up in the frozen north of Northern Alberta (which is not so frozen right now...it's been over 30C all week!!!).
I've been married to DH for almost 17 year, and we've been together for 21 years this fall. I have three children, DS is 15, DD1 will be 12 next week, and DD2 is 9. I work as an educational assistant at my DD2 school, and love what I do. I have travelled across Canada several times, but have yet been to Newfoundland. I have lived in several provinces, too. I hope to someday retire to the Maritimes...my childhood home, and my forever home!
I enjoy gardening, cooking, sewing/quilting and most anything domestic (I'm a whiz with an iron!!! LOL). No pets...allergies. We are building our dream home on an acreage in the country, and I am looking forward to planting trees and gardens next spring.
I may not post often, but I lurk daily and rejoice in your joys, and grieve in your sadness. What a fun bunch you all are!

Hi, my name is Ausilia, 46. I'm divorced and the mother of three great kids. My oldest son is an actor (I posted some of his commericals awhile back) my second son is a restaurant manager in downtown Vancouver Canada and my baby daughter is a bank teller and lives in Edmonton AB with me. I grew up in Northern Ontario (Land of the Goose) and have lived out west for 19 yrs. I have been coming to the KT since 1999, mostly lurking but have posted once in awhile. I love the great receipes and looking at everyone's pictures. I work at a car dealership and I sell Avon. I worked part-time at a restaurant for 17 years and finally retired from that, so now just one job. I'm off to my hometown tonight, (taking the redeye). I've learnt that you can fly faster and cheaper to Europe than you can across Canada. That's about it in a nutshell, pretty boring.

Laurel here, from Southern Ontario. I'm 55,coming up on my 35th anniversary with DH, Dave. We have one DD, a really great DSil and 2 of the sweetest Grandsons in the world (IMHO), and one furbaby, Sadie. I regularly babysit other small breed dogs, as it gives me a little pocket money and I don't have to leave the home to work. I love to garden, read, and cook. My favorite tv channels are the food network and HGTV.

Wanda here, from the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwestern Virginia. I'm 60, married, and we are both retired from the federal government--I took early retirement at 46. I have been at KT for 10 years, and have made a lot of friends here--have even met a number of KTers in person.

I lost my son in 2006 (he was 40); he gave me 2 grandsons (now 19 and 15). DH has 2 sons and 3 grandsons. Our home is ruled by Bandit (a 12-pound Yorkshire Terrier), who is beyond spoiled.

My main hobbies are the computer, reading, and Bible study. Oh, and I'm totally addicted to quilting!!

  • fran1523

I'm Fran, 66 years of age, and live in Southern Massachusetts, minutes off I 95. My husband of 35 years died last year after a long battle with cancer. My two adopted (from Korea) daughters are 29 and 30 and live in NYC. They live only about six blocks from each other and are very good friends. I have an aging springer spaniel named Millie who is my constant companion. She has to keep me in her sight at all times because she is now completely deaf.

I check in every day, but don't post very often. I spend a lot of time on the Quilting Forum and also the Kitchen Forum because I remodeled the kitchen last year. I love to quilt, travel, also play bridge and read a lot. Gardening is not my favorite thing to do, but I can't avoid doing some because this house has a big yard. All in all, life is good and I am thankful for what I have.

  • Jodi_SoCal

I'm Jodi, 55, married to my childhood sweetheart. We were neighbors growing up and have known each other since I was in the second grade.

We live in Orange County in Southern California and have been here as long as we have been married, 35 years.

We have two kids, a boy 21 and girl 23. Both are a true blessing. Our daughter is a singer/dancer/designer who is still trying to find herself and having a blast in the process. Our son is very grounded and focused. He's already graduated from trade school and has a great job working as a mechanic for Audi. Gosh it's nice to have a mechanic we can trust!!!

My husband is a wonderful man. Smart, loving, active and kind. He has his own business and plays tennis twice a day, seven days a week. He's one of the nicest persons I know. I just got lucky the day I found him.

I'm a Graphic Designer for a high-tech firm. I create anything from web graphics and huge tradeshow posters to Powerpoint presentations and print ads. I love to read and travel and one day, when I find some time, I will process the rest of my recent vacation photos to Japan, Russia and Alaska and start posting them again. Just got a bit side-tracked by life right now.

I've been around the KT since 1998 and have met quite a few followers. Still have a lot more to go. One day I hope we can get an Orange County gathering set up.

As my KT name suggests, I'm Barb and I live in a small town north of Pittsburgh PA. I'm 55 (the speed limit) and have been married to DH Ken for 31 years. (Barbie and Ken - get it?) I have two grown daughters; one an athletic trainer and one an elementary school teacher. I am a preschool teacher and direct the church choir. I'm blessed to have both my parents in good health. Our dog is Dudley plus I have a cockatiel and two finches. I like doing crafty stuff, but haven't had any big projects for quite a while. I enjoy checking in at KT every day and hearing from you all and seeing all your great pictures. Thanks to Glenda for starting this thread. It's nice to hear about you all!

My real name is Clare, which is my Mom's and Grandmom's middle name. No girls, so ends with me. I am 56 1/2 and have one DS who just turned 24. As some of you might know, he has high functioning Autism and also very sever OCD. He has several medical problems too. Being his caregiver has defined my life for the last 24 years.

Almost forgot to metion one of our biggest joys for the last 5 years, Elvira, a mini Dachshund. She has been great for all of us, but especially for my DS. He really came out of his shell because of her. He now goes up to strangers with dogs and talks to them about her and ask questions about their dogs. He never did that before. And she keeps us rolling on the floor with all her antics. I wonder if she knows she is that funny?

I was born in Westminister, MA and lived there till I was 9 1/2 when we moved to Decatur, IL. I went to college at Eastern IL Univ. and graduated in 2 1/2 years. I worked in Chicago for 2 years after graduation, but didn't like the big city so moved down to Champaign-Urbana and worked at the U. of IL library. That is where I met my DH, who was going for his Masters in Engineering. That was in March, we had a whirlwind courtship, and was married on Labor Day Sept. 1977. We flew out to CA right after the ceremony because he had to be back to work the next day. We are coming up on our 32nd.

When we first lived in CA, we lived all over the South Bay area and eventually bought our first house in San Jose in 1981. I went to San Jose State and got my Masters in Library Science. I worked as a manager of all the libraries at Intel. We moved over to the coast in 1986. We live up in the mountains on 2.5 acres which keeps us busy. DH loves to work on house remodeling projects and has been doing them for 22 years. We finally did the kitchen 2 years ago after living with the 1971 ugly one for 20 years. We are now replacing all the carpet with solid hardwood floors. Like everything, we do it ourselves.

I have a big garden because I love fresh veggies and lots of flowers. I have always had a garden where ever I went. I can't imagine not having one. My Mom said as soon as I could walk I followed my Dad around the garden (the gardener in the family) copying everything he did. I also love to cook and really love to bake. Too much so, that is why I am so fluffy. LOL

I have been into photography since I was 10 and even use to have a darkroom. About 13 years ago I started getting into Photoshop and later switched to that. I do miss my B & W photography though. I have also toyed with jewelry making and glass bead making. I hope to get a kiln and make fused and slumped glass in the future. I love to do anything creative. I still do sewing, knitting, crocheting and embroidery.

The biggest highlight of the last year was going to FL to help celebrate my Mom's 90th birthday. I can't wait to help her celebrate her 100th!

I was born in York, PA. in 1937 and grew up in Pa., West Virgina and New Jersey. At the age of eighteen I married a fellow in the Air Force, and moved to Albany Georgia where he was stationed. I wanted to be a mommy so bad and when month after month went by with no results I was almost certain I would never have a baby. Finally, I got preggers and had a beautiful healthy baby boy, he will be 54 in September. When he was three months old I got pregnant again this time I had a little girl. I went on to have three more boys and another girl. My baby is now 42. I was a stay at home mom and enjoyed every minute of it. They are all grown now with families of their own, a total of 14 grand children and 5 greats. To help fill the empty spaces in a five bedroom house, I adopted 3 chihuahuas. A lot of my time now is spent taking care of my hubby who has diabetes. He has no feeling in his feet and hands and some of his meds make him a little dizzy. We have been married for 53 years now and he took very good care of me, now it is my turn to care for him. I used to have a ton of hobbies including knitting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, candles, wood working, decorative painting, scrap booking and many more. I now have stopped most of them, keeping just a few to keep me out of trouble. I do love to cross stitch, sew, paint and read. That about sums it up. Vique.

Stephanie, 38 next month and married 16 years next month (we met in HS). Ohio native, Ohio State alumni, and now in Georgia north of Atlanata (via Florida and Tennessee). Four kids: 3 boys ages 15, 12 next month (busy month), and 6, and one girl age 8 1/2. After 14 years as SAHM, I've been substitute teaching for a year and enjoy it, but it makes me itch to be in my own classroom. I am working slowly on what I need to get certified again, so maybe next year I will teach full-time. I prefer middle school reading/language arts, but HS English is OK, too.

For "me time" I like to read, browse a bookstore, and sometimes play my flute.

I've been on and off the KT since, I think, I was pregnant with DD, which would be about 9 years and two states ago.

Julie here. I am 61 (wow, already!) years old and I live in a small town in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Moved here into a new house after spending 25 years in a little village renovating an old house. Love the new house, miss the old house. I have been married to my DH for 35 years. We have two adult (?) children, a daughter who lives in a small city nearby, and a son who lives with us. My DH, myself and our son are raising our grandson, who is now 6. We are both retired. DD works with the OPP as a dispatcher for 911; DS works as a groundskeeper for the local golf course. Both are excellent at what they do. DH has been retired for 9 years, and I retired when the grandboy arrived, knowing that he would be living with us from day 1. Love to garden, enjoy housekeeping and cooking, love my little doggie Ajax the Boston and his furry plaything Paws the cat. Life is good for us. Have lurked at Garden Web and That Home site for years! Occassionally post. Hi everybody!

I'm Sherry and 60. We got home yesterday from seven wonderful days with our entire family (19 of us!) in a resort in Door County, WI. Hub and I have been married 40 years and have six talented, accomplished kids between 39 and 23 years old and 5 grands between 1 and 5, another on the way.

Hub is a retired journalist; I spent many years in the high school library, loving every minute. Four kids are married, one dtr is thinking about it, next week youngest dtr is going to SKorea to teach English for a year. I'm terribly sad about that (such a long way to go), yet proud of her, too. I feel very lucky that we get to spend a lot of time with our kids, so watching this last independent little cuss fly away to Ireland for 6 months, China for 2 months, now Korea for a year...

Hub and I have lived in Milwaukee County for 15 years, where we raised the last two girls. He is a writer and hopeless romantic, displaced from his beloved SW Arizona. I am disorganized and a bit of a packrat, but I love to sew, read and cook. Three years ago we were both diagnosed with cancer within 7 weeks of each other. I have had no further problems, but hub has had two life-threatening illnesses unrelated to cancer since then; he is currently (slowly) recovering from deep vein thrombosis in his groin and legs and very anxious to get back to normal.

I have to catch up on a week's worth of KT postings! Yikes!

I'm Christy, age 63. Married almost 43 years to DH. Have lived in southwestern PA most of my life. Two grown DDs, one SIL, one grandson, age 4, and granddaughter, age 20 months. One daughter is an admin. assistant in California, the other a full-time mom and part-time decorator, near Philadelphia.
I'm still working as a part-time accounting assistant, with hopes of retiring in a year or so.
I check in almost daily, but seldom post. Have been at KT for a long time...can't remember when I first found it. Have learned so much from all of you!

I've been around here for 7 or 8 years and while I frequently respond to posts, I rarely do the now practically monthly "get to know you" posts because I am very cautious about the amount of info I put out on the net about myself.
(Those of you whom I've met know that I don't like my real name used, I guess I'm a privacy freak!)
I live in TX with TG (telescope guy). We both work full time in IT and for fun we travel, garden and stargaze.

Let's Get to Know Eachother Thread has not been posted monthly. It's been at least 6 months or so.

I have enjoyed reading all the posts.

    Thanks!

My name is Eileen and I'm 57 years old and live in Arizona. I have 4 daughters and they all live close by. We lived in Southern Cali for 27 years, but with the cost of houses a few years ago, we all moved to the Phoenix area. I have two grandchildren - a three year old girl and a newborn boy. I am a lurker, but would love to become a regular. :)

Hi...I'm Nancy, and I live in western NC. I tell people I've been married for 38 years, but it took me 47 years and three husbands to accomplish it! Been married now for 21+ years to an all-around DIYer who had his own remodeling/handyman business until six bypasses laid him low a couple of years ago. Still does small jobs for those on his "little old lady" list. I wish he'd put me on it!

Just returned from the West Coast where I attended DGD's wedding. Both exes were there, and I got big hugs from both. DS has been married to the best DIL in the world for more than 26 years, and I had the privilege of staying with them and my 7-year-old DGS while in Oregon.

I have had fun with a lot of different crafts over the years, but now I mostly read, and read, and read some more, when I should be doing something a little more productive.

I also spend WAY too much time lurking here! A better bunch of people cannot be found.

I live in my childhood home and am loving it. I have been mostly lurking here since the late 90's. I post on occasion, but read daily. I work as an Accounting Specialist.

Hello, SummerTX here. By here, I mean the Panhandle of Texas. My real name is Rhonda. Been married to a terrific guy and my best friend for 20 years now. He was dubbed McCloud at a get together in AR years ago. So when you see me refer to McC, you'll know who I am referring to.

I'm a transplant from Southern CA and still miss the Pacific ocean. Been land locked here in Texas since 1957.

Joined the KT about 2000 and have met some wonderful people and made some forever friends. They are the best!

We have 2 small breed dogs, a Westie mix named Dustin and a Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle) named Cody.

We are both retired now and loving it.

Hi...I'm Mike. I'm 33 and have lived in Massachusetts all my life. I'm single and work as a Medical Assistant in an ER in Rhode Island. I work best in chaos. I'm slowly but surely going to school for my RN. I am owned by my two cats Jake and Abby. I love to cook and have gotten some awesome recipes from some members here, but barely have time anymore.

I'm Jan, 56, and have been a member for a long time but usually just lurk. I've been married to my second husband for 20 years and have a 25 year old son, 27 year old step-daughter, a 2 year old step-granddaughter and a 9 year old golden retriever, Dixie.

We have lived in central Louisiana for 5 long years where DH is a dept head at a small university and I stay busy at home waiting for the day he retires and we can get back to College Station, TX as fast as we can.

Rhonda is my name. Calirose had a colorful ring to it when I registered several years ago. And I love color! I use it often in oil, acrylic and watercolor paints!!
Now living in West TN. with DH and Boomer-our lab, and Brandy - our australian shepherd. 3 children (one married has blessed us with 3 gkids,) but none live near us at present.
Often a lurker, occasional poster - I also visit the Crafts, Dec ptg, home finance/retirement.

Thanks for this post which gives me the chance to say hi.

April here, from SE FL (my particular town may as well be hurricane capital of the world - got frances, jean, and wilma all in a row as direct hits - can you tell where my mind is this weekend with another storm out there? lol!).

37, owned by 3 dachshunds and a 14y ds. Married-ish, not sure how it's all going to play out, but I'm ok with that.

I'm an LPN and have worked in a primary care doctor's practice for 10 years now. I'll eventually get back to school, I'm kind of disappointed in myself for not getting there yet, but I have a plan for the "new and improved me" and am just waiting for certain things to fall into place for it all to spark and happen :-) My house is currently for sale (that's part of the things falling into place thing) so if anyone wants to relocate to Sunny FL, let me know, lol!

In addition to working 1 full time job and 1 part time job, I have diabetes and Lupus, which explains why I don't post a lot. I read here EVERY day, but some days I'm just too dang tired and sore and beat down to post. But I'm in every thread in spirit :-)

I love to read, love to cook (I peruse the cooking and recipe exchange forums too!), and like to pretend that I can garden (I tend to ignore the fact that everything I plant dies and blame it on our insane heat here).

I've heard it said that friends are the family you get to choose for yourself, and while I love my RL family, this one at KT runs a very close second :-)

All righty, guess it's time for me to jump in here. :)
I'm Eva and live in a teeny town in east Texas on Cedar Creek Lake (between Jaybird & Vannie.)

I just turned 67 and am happy to be! DH Ken and I have 2 kids that I can finally call "adults" and 5 grands. DD Sandy, 45, & her DH live in north Houston & have a DD almost 15 and DS 12 years old. DS Gary, 40, his wife of 1 year and 2 of her children, DD- 15, and DS- 11, live in Katy (50 miles from Sandy.) Andrea, my wonderful DIL, has another son, Mark - 22- in the Navy in San Diego, CA.

DH and I will reach our 46th anniversary on Sunday, the 17th. He retired in '93 from Exxon and we moved here in '94. It's the longest I've lived in one place in my entire life.

I've been at the KT since at least '99, probably earlier. I've met several KTers and consider them all friends. You here have been with me through some great times and some really tough times, and I'm so glad I found ya'll!

    Here you go:

I am Moni. Born in Germany in 1954. This year, I am 54 years old/young. I consider this my lucky year. Born in 54, and 54 is my age. Yeah.

I am married to the same guy for almost 36 years. Mother to two wonderful but sometimes odd daughters. Ulrike lives in Iowa now, and Lori is married to Doug and lives in New Mexico.

I have moved 4 times since the fall of 1998. I HATE moving. Still unpacking, and hate that too.

Meanwhile I run (actually bike) away from home quite regular, to do extended bicycle tours.

    They are online here:

Here is a link that might be useful: Moni's biking stories

Hi - I am Renee, a transplanted Northerner now living in Central Florida. I first moved here after 9/11 and didn't think I would stay but I love it now - except for the hurricanes.

I am 48 and single, have a wonderful BF and live with four kitties - Jack (orange and white tabby), Ernie (fat brown tabby), Lola (brown Maine Coon) and Kaci (black and white Maine Coon mix).

I have recently taken up two fun hobbies. The first is raising Monarch butterflies. I just had another girl yesterday morning. I am mesmerized by the whole process. The second is geocaching. My love of rooting through thrift stores and garage sales makes me a natural at this form of treasure hunting.
