'Please Pass the Biscuits' -----A nice message

This was sent to me, and is very nice, and is something I need to learn!

Do we have to be old to appreciate the wisdom in this?

When I was a kid, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular, when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides... a burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things... and imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. What I've learned over the years is that, learning to accept each others' faults and choosing to celebrate each others' differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

So...please pass me a biscuit. And yes, the burned one will do just fine! And please pass this along to someone who has enriched your life... I just did!

Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.

A great story. My FIL used to praise his wife's cooking everyday. He'd say "This is the best roast beef I ever ate..This is the best chicken I ever ate...This is the best spaghetti I ever ate." You get it. Compliment the cook. Unfortunately, his son wasn't listening back then. FIL left us in 1990; his wife joined him in 2005.

Well, we have both: Kohler biscuit and white. The biscuit is in a master bath with a light beige tile and off-white cabnitry and looks like white in place. The white is in the kitchen bath and childrens' baths and looks nice and clean with white subway tile and black accent tile. So, its all about personal preference. As for matching, not all 'whites' are created equal - so you will have to match your white or biscuit if you change things out in future. Good luck with your choice.

I suspect some of the posters go through life with a false sense of security. I hope no one here ever experiences any such a thing but despite my hopes, something will happen to someone or several. That also applies to what may have happened in the past, as we know at least one of our members experienced a home invasion. I am also one and was robbed at gunpoint. I could have avoided it had I been looking around me. Instead, I was oblivious to my surroundings. That's the message the false story conveys. Sorry, I just can't agree people should not share them. Ever think that maybe it was made up because there was no actual experience to reference, but the writer still wanted others to be aware of potential dangers. Since my own experience, it's very possible I was successful at avoiding others because of the way I reacted to peculiar behaviors and suspicious scenarios.

And to think ... that this bakers been accused, on occasion, o' bein' half-baked! old joyfuelled ... who can get a bit crusty, at times. P.S. The kids' story at church today was about a boy who helped his grandpa in his bakery, regularly, and asked whether he could be paid, so grandpa gave him a bag of bagels on Friday night, which the boy took to the synagogue and put into the cupboard where the Torah is stored. When the kid went back later ... the bag was gone. One day, curious Grandpa wondered what the kid was up to and followed him ... then was quite disapproving that the kid had put them into the holy cupboard ... ... but an unkempt, homeless man came in and, taking the bag, thanked God for his generosity and said that he'd have to go out and help some others. When, describing the nice bagels that Grandpa made, they were referred to as being "crusty on the outside and soft on the inside", I leaned ahead and told a couple of ladies sitting there that some people were like that: "crusty on the outside ... and soft on the inside". o j

Jemdandy, what a wonderful treasure trove you have. Lucky grand nephew. I don't honestly understand the fuss about people's stuff. If your descendants don't want your things then they can hire a removal company and it all goes away. Why bother sorting through things you don't want to keep in he first place? Do they think there is an unknown treasure to be found? And if you have things people will want, why would they be buried under decades of debris? My nice things will go to my children when they become useful for them, not when I am dead. The only problem with this plan is I have a fair amount of jewelry and no daughters. Worse comes to worst my jewelry will be sold, which is fine by me. I know my most precious pieces will be treasured by my sons since they are family things, like my grandfather's signet ring, or our wedding bands which belonged to my grandparents. I will have a few boxes of sentimental possessions, like snapshots, school things, slide rules, and baby clothes. Those are all tidy and known. One box of school things has been requested by my relative's alma mater. The notebook with the drawings they want needs some restoration, which I will take care of this year and then send deliver it to the school myself. What is left when I depart should be tidy, well labeled and easy to sort. I come from a long line of women who ruthlessly sort through their possessions often. My husband and sons, they are pack rats, but since I am in the picture, their excess stuff is all neatly sorted and labeled. If a descendent is not interested in my husband's drawer filled with spare parts for heaven knows what, they can easily to sent on their way.

Oh... sniff... I miss my dad. I never ever heard him complaining any food that my mom served him. Well... yes, my mom was a good cook and I learned alot from her. I remembered those weeks that my mom worked in the evenings. I had to be the substitute cook in the family. My dad complimented my cook. It sure made it all worth the efforts. Hum... I think I'm going to take mom to visit his resting place tomorrow.
