My son introduced me to his paintings years ago, and I have enjoyed them ever since.

I read that this morning. So young. My brother has several of his framed limited edition prints.

I'm through with David Austins, except for Evelyn, which is tough and a good bloomer. A nurseryman I know put it best: in this area, Austins get twice as big and bloom half as much as they are predicted to do. The Jackson-Perkins roses rapidly die of homesickness for the Pacific northwest, so I don't buy those any more. I live ten minutes away from the Antique Rose Emporium, but it seems like they're always out of whatever it is I'm after. Leonidas is on the counting-down to shovel time list. I sure like Weeks roses for this area, though. I don't know where they're grown, but that is probably a big factor.

I have several wild American Elm growing on my property near Waco, Tx. I still have at least one of these potted (about 2' tall). IF someone wants it, I will send it to you bare-rooted free of charge up until end of April, except you must agree to post here annually its growth results and agree to at least weekly watering if no rainfall during spring -fall for first year. Our American Elm here appear to be DED- free, but the trees are much shorter than described back east. Our native Cedar Elm appear to be the better choice for here, but the few large American Elm growing only along river and creek beds do look nice. I am not an expert on American Elm, only an interested observer on the western fringes of their territory.

Amy, old academics and new tricks... we can do somewhat of a decluttering effort, but when all's said and done, we'll both have piles of books and magazines again. It's just how we roll. I like the silver swing-arm lamp suggestion -- have considered modern sconces on either side of the headboard to leave the nightstands more free. New nightstand suggestion below... Dressers, anyone? And thank you so much for sticking with me on this. I really have trouble with it on my own! Here is a link that might be useful: light, leggy, breaks up the clunkiness of the bed?

I prefer prettybluehouse's photo, look more real. I didn't even realize the top photo wasn't a painting until I scrolled through the comments -- I thought it was just a disconnected part of their art collections LOL. Regarding the disconnect between exterior and interior, I appreciate they respectfully didn't change the exterior even though their preference veers modern. I prefer modern/eclectic decor, but likely will never be able to afford a modern design home in my part of the world. Unless we win the Lottery, our budget is small cookie-cutter ranch (currently), or bigger less-MCM-more-traditional ranch (we need a larger home). But I would be quite unhappy if I had to limit my interior choices to that dictated by the exterior of the house. Their collections are displayed beautifully, in a manner that doesn't create a ton of visual clutter. However, I would NOT want to have to dust them. I can't even keep up on the dusting in our small home (yikes) with minimal collections.

Last year the Hallmark channel presented a movie starring one of my favorite young actors who played Kinkade You might be able to get it on Netflix
