I had an 84" table from Tropitone on my FL patio. The only unfortunate thing is that when we brought out a folding table, it didn't quite match up and the "seams" were wonky.

Emu makes a table that goes from 63 to 83. They sell it at Room & Board.

If I had unlimited funds (see Palimpsest's post) I would buy two large folding tables from Fermob and just keep one tucked away. That way, I could have the tables match, end-to-end, so the tablecloths would look nice! ;-)

Right now, I have a 54" round lovely from Costco. The Tropitone table I brought from FL took up my entire patio here! Lucky you....I miss dining outside!

I was just at our local homes show and saw a vendor who had these tables. They are made by the Amish. I have one of their gliding chairs and love it. I have left it out all winter and still looks great. The table they show is 96" long not cheap though. It's made from recycled plastic.

I couldn't find any extra long patio tables when I looked a while back, so here's what I did instead. On one patio, there are two matching tables and 12 chairs that can be used separately or together. They're aluminum framed tables and the chairs have mesh sling type seats (no cushions) so they dry quickly. We've considered adding a third table, but so far have managed without it.

For the adjacent sunroom, I found a maple table (Queen Anne style) with two leaves that extends to 10 ft. and 8 matching chairs. The finish isn't trendy at the moment, so it hadn't sold even after the store owner recovered the chairs and I got a great deal. The sun room is large enough to accommodate a another table, so I bought an 8 ft. folding banquet table and a fitted cover in a linen look fabric from TableVogue. I liked it so well that I bought a 6 ft. table and fitted cover, too. The smaller table is useful for setting up a buffet on the patio.

For the large folding table, I bought 8 simple wood chairs on clearance that can be stored stacked in pairs, along with the folding tables, in an upstairs closet. If I wanted to use the folding tables outside, I might check out the folding chairs at Ballard Designs when they go on sale. Maybe someplace such as Pier 1 or World Market would have similar folding chairs. The ones I looked at, while not made in the US, were at least not made in China, and I like the look of them better than the metal folding chairs I recall from childhood.

It sounds sort of cobbled together, but when similar table linens are used and the tableware & flowers match it all works well.

We have an 84" table from Troptone also, aluminum with a clear tempered glass top. We actually bought it because of its length, it is an oblong so you can fit a few extra chairs around the edges/corners. It has held up really well and in fact a few years ago we had it painted after the original paint tone faded . . . it is aluminum and I think in 2000 it was about $1800 with six sling chairs... very cost effective. Don't know if they are as well made today but I believe they are sold online still.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to have to go out and do some shopping. Amy and kswl, the Tropitone seems promising. Rockmanor, on the Tropitone website I also noticed there is the option of buying an 84" long table and a matching 42" table that could be pushed together...great minds think alike!

And denali, my husband would probably like the recycled plastic idea. It's a bit pricey to order sight unseen though.

Anyway, I suspect there is going to be sticker shock one way or another. But, I really do want to put something usable out there, so everyone can do what they want to do: sit around the table together. As my southern daddy says, right now it's just pitiful watching 10-20 people trying to squeeze around a table meant for 6!
