The dancing girls said that they had heard his daughter was in Swan Lake years ago. And he is their biggest donor. The program in his hand was from 1987 I think the date was. And it has to be on the same date every year remember him saying the 22, several times. I think Red is going to kill Tom he won't let him hurt her. I also heard in the conversation between Tom and the girl that Berlin sent their orders. Right as they were in the warehouse. This is by far the best new show on the regular networks. Jasdip I highly recommend it. Every episode has been very good. The actors are great. Crisis is looking good for a new one. I set it to record the series already. Another we absolutely love is Justified and this season has not disappointed. Not to mention how darn good looking Rayland is. I hope it stays good now that Elmore Leonard has died, hopefully the writing will keep on track. His son is involved so that should help.

Each morning I turn on the TV to see if the world is still spinning on its axis. So far it is, even though sometimes very wobbely. On Saturday I check the weekly TV guide, mark the shows I want to watch, and DVR them. I also check TCM hoping to find one of the good old movies that are worth seeing again and DVR it. Lately I've gotten into the habit of fixing my dinner, taking it into the back bedroom where I have the TV and computer, the recliner, etc. but no bed. Then I watch whatever I have saved for that evening, deleting the commercials. I check out the late news, and then get on the computer. That is it. My current favs are Shark Tank, The Little Couple, Sister Wives, Breaking Amish, all of which are over, or soon will be for the season, and Duck Dynasty. I do like the real mystery cases that are shown, but not the made-for-TV ones. I really hate having to pay for shows which I never watch. Hopefully some of the new shows will be likeable, but so far I haven't found them. Sue

Was blown away by Selma Hayek's article. To have a meaningful discussion we need to differentiate between rape, sexual assault, and harassment. Hayek DID say no, repeatedly, and did fight against Weinstein. But he continued to bully her in a sexual way, which is harassment. And he got away with it because of the power he wielded in her industry and a lack of an accountability force in his work. Weinstein seems to fit standard psychopath behaviors--charming and charismatic on the surface, good at manipulating people, gets a kick out of pushing boundaries, and has the inability to ever respect them because to respect social boundaries you have to be able to empathize with your fellow humans. The golden rule of how to treat people which is totally logical, makes no sense if you cannot imagine an "other" as being anything outside of an object. And that goes for the way psychopaths treat both men and women. Psychopaths are not all Hannibal Lecter's, many are highly functioning and respected members of our society, due to their charm and for some, intelligence. And many do not "mean" to harm people and can be taught to treat people well, but in a mechanistic way. But by the time someone is in the position of Weinstein, too many people are invested so it will take a "village" so to speak, to hold them accountable. It takes quite a while for enough people to understand how twisted the person is, because if you have never seen it or experienced it in person, based on the person's outside face, you find it unbelievable. They can hold it together for a while and say just the right things to gain sympathy and positive attention. Ask me how I know . . . Years ago I had a very weird boss, who everyone thought was a saint but could be casually cruel just as easily as casually eloquent and charming. He would mouth the words about how we were all one big family and folks would believe him . . . until they experienced his dark side. One of the people who worked with him told me once, "I used to think he was a great guy and my friend, and then I realized he was NOT a great guy, and NOT my friend, and the only person he cared about was himself." But hard to pin anything on him since so many folks practically worshiped him.

Three of our four kids are still at home. We all have dinner together nearly every night tho it is often a later dinner like 7-7:30pm. Typical teen kids, they then retire to their bedrooms to finish homework, etc. Dh needs way more sleep than I, and also gets up earlier as he leaves at 6:30am to take S16 to his high school carpool, then goes to work. I do get up before they leave, but since I don’t need as much sleep, I don’t go to bed as early. Dh typically heads upstairs by 9:30, while I stay up until 11ish. So weeknights, we sometimes watch the national news together (recorded on DVR, then we watch around 9 after dinner). We'll talk for a bit then he’s off to bed. I stay up and read. Weekends, he’s often watching sports with our boys so I’ll hang out in the same room and read my book. Probably a couple times a month, we will actually watch something on Netflix together. We really don’t watch much tv. i imagine once the kids are gone, we will probably use that freed up time to walk our two dogs together in the evening after dinner, continue to watch the news. We still won’t really do much together on weeknights as he will continue to go to bed early even when he doesn’t have to drive S16 anymore. He needs a good 8-9 hr sleep while I’m good with 6-7. I typically go to bed after him on weekends and still get up earlier than he does!
