This post is very old but coming up high in the Google search engine for the Costco dual flush toilet. There are many, many complaints for the Dual flush Wateridge toils with the "running forever" problem. The solution has been posted before on several forums: ----- start quote -------- "It's too bad there's so many water ridge toilets being returned, and parts being ordered, when the solution is quite simple. Just move down the ratcheting bars. The problem is, over time, the ratcheting bars push inward because of flushing. I would say it would be better if water ridge had mad the threads thicker, or made the threads from metal, that would prevent this problem. but it's easy enough to fix - once in a while just simple screw them back out. This has solved my slow tank leak twice now. ----- end quote -------- This is a great toilet, now for a 70-90 price tag (unbelievable) but the REAL value is that it's from Costco. It has a lifetime warranty and people saying "well I can't get parts from the box store for it" haven't yet called up Costco/Waterridge: they'll give you the parts for free -- many years later (might have to pay shipping). OK pricklypearcactus, you're making me do alot of research now.... Here's the 3" flapper, model# THU175S, used on Toto "G-Max" 1.6gpf toilets, like the original, now-discontinued Drake: That flapper, from what I've been told, can be replaced by model# THU140S, which was used on their "Power Gravity" 1.6gpf toilets that were their midrange models - G-Max was their high-end. Note the lack of a hole on the side, which keeps it from falling until the water level is lower, thus sending more water to the bowl: But both of those 1.6gpf designs have been discontinued in favor of two 1.28gpf flush systems: E-Max (on most of the "Eco" models) and Double Cyclone (on most of the "II" models). Now here's where things get complicated - all of these seem to use a whole new range of flappers - a quick search turned up at least three new ones - THU253S, THU277S, and THU299S. Amongst the changes, most (all?) of these have added a float that sits above the flapper. I don't know if the float can be adjusted or removed - haven't seen one in person yet. There's a picture of the flapper from the Eco Drake, which I think uses the 277, on Terry's site: (here). To get an idea of the difference, look at the parts diagrams for the old 1.6 Drake and the new 1.28 Eco Drake. Now see the difference in part #6, the flapper? It does seem, as Terry noted, that the rest of the tank (and the bowl for that matter) haven't changed - compare the other part numbers. Maybe all you need to do to convert an Eco Drake into an old-style G-Max Drake is remove the float, or at least swap to the old flapper, although Terry says on his thread that the flush valve is different too. There was a 1.6gpf Double Cyclone in the lineup until recently (on the Neorest, Soiree, and Guinevere) - I can't find what flapper they used. This is way more than I ever wanted to know about toilet flappers....

As specialized as the GardenWeb forums are, there is another place on the Web that has an even more narrowly focused forum just for toilets, and it is an invaluable resource. Under a different moniker there than the monicker that I use here, a couple of weeks ago I posted a description -- including a photo -- of our set-up where, yes, the Inax Clessence advanced toilet seat is mounted on our Toto Vespin II. See the link below. In the same post I linked to a separate posting that I had made in the Terry Love forum in which I had reviewed the early (1979-1982) rivalry between Inax and Toto when advanced toilet seats first were introduced to the Japanese market, and the humorous competing television campaigns. Terry Love edited that earlier post by embedding the videos that I had only linked to, and you may get a kick out of watching them. (I also explained there how the Toto and Inax design philosophies diverge.) We have not installed any Inax toilets here yet, but the toilet in the bathroom adjacent to our bedroom dates from the very early days of the 1.6 gpf era, and the flushing mechanics were still not fully sorted out in those days. (That is, it very often requires more than a single flush to finish the job.) We expect to replace the toilet soon with a dual flush ADA height toilet and -- if we were doing it today -- the Inax Rio Grande would be our top choice. When we get around to it, we already have our Toto SS214 toilet seat, now stting in a box in the attic, to mount on the new toilet. I love my Caroma dual flush toilets. no cleaning issues (other than my 6 yr old who can hit everything in bathroom BUT the bowl). I have had the Colonial for 3+ years and added the Brisbane last year when we redid the kids bath. It is super cool round looking and they love it. Never had a flushing issues and we had constant issues with the Kohler that we replaced.
