SIL needs prayers big time, please

SIL had plans on retiring in August, and truly looking forward to it. In January, he had shoulder surgery, so was pretty much laid up all winter, but had gone back to work last month. He developed some abdominal pains, a colonoscopy was held and cancer found. He was to have surgery for that this coming week. Two days ago, he had such a high fever that they couldn't break so DD took him to the ER, where they gave him antibiotics and sent him home. He seemed to be feeling OK, when he developed a severe shaking, which they thought was perhaps a reaction to meds, so DD called the First Responders. They got him stabalized, but took him by ambulance to the hospital, where he was checked out, and his temp soared again. They think it is diverticulitis, which he just found out that he had. They put him on an IV, and transported him to a larger city, as they had no available rooms locally! So, I'm asking for your prayers for him.....he needs to get over this hump in order to have the surgery. He's a good guy who only wants to have all those fishing days ahead of him. Prayers for SIL and all concerned...seems so many people are suffering 'something' anymore! Thank God we do have hospitals, doctors, and those who know how to take care of these situations when all we can do is pray and be there! nola anne

I TOTALLY agree with Angie! After having my 1st nest attempt last year fail after losing the young to cold weather (50's, rainy, windy,) They started another clutch and I was in fear of another nest failure. The eggs seemed to be going on a little too long w/o hatching. It really discouraged and upset me but then my face lit up when I opened the box to skimpy newborns! It kept my spirits up and resulted in 4 new BBs in the world! And Dad raised them BY HIMSELF after he lost his mate. It was a rather down season and looked like a failed one but me and the blues kept pushing forward and all ended well! I had 3 separate pairs raise 1 clutch each by the end of the season. I understand about hearing Stage 4 and I was praying for a better diagnosis...I know you were, too, and must be feeling pretty devastated right now. Just found out the ( the young man and family) had their furniture stored there also. They had moved with her mom who could not live by herself as she recovered from some serious surgery and the loss of her husband.

That's way too much for one person to have to bear. I pray that he's soon well enough to have his necessary surgery, and that it goes very smoothly. And I pray that he has a lot of years yet to enjoy his dream of fishing.

Phyllis, I'm so sorry to hear about your SIL's illness and set backs. Prayers going out for him, his family and the medical personnel, that they have the knowledge and skills to get him over this difficulty and then have a successful surgery. Please keep us posted. Dottie

My dh had diverticulitis which abscessed, so they did surgery and took out the affected portion of his intestine. If the doctors think the d. area is in the same spot as the cancer, can they not do the surgery now and "kill two birds," so to speak? I'm so sorry to hear how much he's been through and hope they can clear up both problems quickly and start the mending process; will say a prayer for him.

This is tough to put up with anytime, but just when things should be getting easy for a while, that's so dissapointing.

My sister-in-law had this about ten years ago, and after surgery and treatment she was and is still fine.

I wish all the best for your son-in-law's speedy return to good health.
