Nice and quiet. We had ham with fresh greens (chard) from the garden, black eyed peas, salad, cornbread. All of our children were out of pocket. Two in Hawaii, Daughter in Austin recovering from a double mastectomy, and the other two not close enough to make it.

Yes, we had a very nice Easter. So much fun watching a little one pick up her Easter eggs and put them in her basket and then play with them. Oldest and youngest daughters are coming today for lunch and we will have leftovers. Of course Alyssa will be here too.

It was nice. My mom (age 94) and my one son came for dinner. I have a lot of leftovers, but all good stuff. I will be eating ham for a long time.

Only one minor cooking disaster. I baked a cake and put lemon curd in between the layers. The top layer nearly slid off and the lemon came oozing out. I had to stick two bamboo skewers into the cake to keep it from sliding. I put it in the fridge and that set the lemon. I was going to ice it with whipped cream and coconut but we just cut slices and out the whipped cream and coconut on top.

Next time I will not serve dinner when the Masters Golf is on tv. The two of them had to keep popping up to see what was happening. Son kept checking his ipod. Thank goodness we were done in time for the sudden death overtime. It was funny.

I have a hard time getting Mom to come to my house because she likes to cook. She seemed to enjoy herself and got to enjoy a meal without all the work.

It was superb !! Larry and I attended worship services, and then went to a friends home after to enjoy good comeraderie and good food and good fun with wonderful people...His family is in Iowa and Missouri and mine is in Florida and Alabama, and what with Larry prepping our meadow for planting, there was no time for travel this Easter...We did get to talk to our kin on the phone later in the evening..

A beautiful Easter with my son and grandson!

I really prepared too much food, but that's ok. Most in the freezer for another time.

Well we had a great day planned, but we got a call at my sisters house where we were staying, at 3 in the morning Sunday from the care facility telling us our mother had fallen out of the bed they found her on the floor and the ambulance was rushing her to the hospital.
Just 4 days prior another lady had fallen out of the bed and sustained severe head and brain injury, she is in critical condition and not looking hopeful.
We all rushed to the hospital, mom had a deep puncture gash on her forehead, bleeding heavily. We were very concerned about the hip that had been recently replaced and she had just had part of her foot amputated on Tuesday. We asked repeatedly for every thing to be xrayed and scanned but they only did the head and neck which appeared okay. They released her. She was returned to the facility. We kept asking what happened and how long it was before she was found, no one seems to have the answers.

So we got her settled in gave them her orders from the doctors and insisted on them putting a bed alarm on while we were there, we have been trying to get her one.
After we left a different aide for some reason did not follow the orders and tried to lift her to walk to the bathroom instead of a bed pan. Well during this mom started hollering that she was in pain, her regular aide came running in, was telling them she was not to be moved.
To shorten the story, she was again rushed to the hospital and this time full body scans were done, I am still waiting for full details but so far we know she has a fractured pelvic area.

Not at all the Easter we had planned.

We are just extremely upset and very worried about her health. The foot with the amputation is not looking good either.
She needs all the prayers and thoughts possible.

Had a great day, in spite of the fact I have been dealing with a medical problem for about 6 weeks, and have been home-bound.

I had two invitations, one from DGD for noonish, and the other from DGS at 4-ish. I was not up to going out, so DGD and her DH came to my house and brought a perfect Easter dinner, including ham, scalloped potatoes, pickled beets, deviled eggs, frozen peas w/pasta salad, hot bread. Dessert was a homemade chocolate banana pie topped with whipped cream, and of course a dozen of her scrumptious cupcakes.

My DD had dinner here and then went on to the other one (her DS's) for the later meal. She came back by my house and brought me rum cake and eclair pie that his DW made.

Food is essential, but nothing can replace a caring family.

I had the nicest Easter ever! My daughter gave us a wrapped box inside was a note from her and her husband saying that we were going to have a grandchild by Christmas! Our first! oh, the food was good too

My Easter was great! My kids insisted that I had too much going on in my life right now to cook, so they brought all of the delicious food...and we filled out tummys good!

In the afternoon, the guys went to the garage and sorted, pitched, etc. getting ready for me to have my sale...and the gals sorted and priced things for the garage sale...even the grandkids got involved in the work...two of the boys trimmed some bushes (so it looks good for my new buyer) and my little grand-daughter took pictures out of frames.

We found some of wonderful memories...laughed alot and cried a bit too...but it was a wonderful day and although this house looks a wreck now, I feel so much more ready for the sale and get out of this town and "back home".

I went to church with my son & his family and came home to be alone all day :^(

Joann, did you want to be alone? You sound sad. I'm sorry.

We had our daughter and her family and our older son and his fiancee. It was a nice day with the little grandsons (2 & 5) getting their baskets here. We hid over 40 plastic eggs all over the family room and kitchen, and our 5 year old was sweet in helping the 2 year old find eggs too.

I knit some items for their baskets. The 5 year old loved the manta ray I knit as well as the tiny bunny. The older one loved the grape sized bunnies I knit and we put in some of their eggs. And the 2 year old, for whom I had knit an owl, ignored it. And I got into all this toy knitting because the 2 year old seems to love owls so much!! Ah, well.

We had quiche for lunch, and ham, asparagus, au gratin potatoes, etc. for dinner. Dessert was a fruit pizza which I had made the night before, and it was yummy!

But the cold I caught from my grandsons last week now has me almost unable to talk.

Dh & I went to a tiny little farming town about 2 hours away. I packed a crab salad picnic lunch and we photographed: a bald eagle sitting on a dead branch while his mate sat on the nest, a blue heron rookery of about 30 nests....lots of nest building going on, peregrine falcons were flying over head, prarie dogs running all over, a silo painted with sunflowers was a main attraction....

It was a perfect sunny day! :0) :0) :0)

Raven - I am so sorry to read about your Mother. What a terrible way to spend Easter. You must be so worried. It sounds like she has so many medical issues, how is she doing mentally? I'll remember you and your Mother in my prayers.

Holidays just aren't a big thing to me these days, but it was a pretty enjoyable day. Went out to eat with my sister and apparently a *lot* of people had the same idea - the place was very busy. But a friend reserved a table for us. Nice surprise. Later we talked with a cousin that we don't hear from very often, and later caught up on some sleep. Quite relaxing.

Raven, I'm so very sorry to read about your mom and the tough time she is having. I hope you are geographically close to her so you can keep tabs on her care--rather a luxury these days. I'll send up a little prayer for her and kathymgdg's dh.

Thanks for the prayers and thoughts she sure needs them. I am back home in the Houston area and she is down in South Louisiana, luckily my 2 sisters live there. Her mental state has been deteriorating rapidly, she couldn't understand why she was at the hospital or what had happened to her. We did get the results and she has 2 fractures one of the pelvis the other near the tailbone as best we can understand. We are also very
concerned with any spread of the infection in the foot that had the amputation. She is not diabetic, the foot problem arose from a wound on a toe which would not heal and the infection spread into the bone. We were hoping to only have to do the toe removal, but it may be spreading. The actual removal area is healing well so far.

It is especially hard on her, she will be 90 in August.

So sorry to learn of your mothers health problems. My prayers and good thoughts go out to you and your family. (((((HUGS))))) to you all.
