Spring is finally winking at us!! We have had 5 days of blustery, cold, snowy weather and today is the first day of sun. Things should start drying out and we can work in the garden. My DH rescued a little heeler mix female for the grandson so I have been training her. She has some quirks that I can see probably landed her in the pound. Gonna work on those. Have fun with the new puppy!! Sorry about the foot. I swear if I die an untimely death the dogs had something to do with it, probably tripping me going up or down the stairs! You've seen the videos about the guys chasing the cheese down the hill? Substitute my dogs going downstairs and you should get a pretty good mental picture, then add me in the middle.

Gosh, I am so sorry that you are hurting. Running every day is the pits. I wish I could give you a couple of my 'free' days. I understand your feelings about the loss of Mickey. Knowing what happened to him would help with the grieving.
I'm sending you all my best vibes for a much better tomorrow. But, I have to say that I am not sure that a new puppy is what you need right now.

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time. I remember Mickey too, losing him must have been so awful for you.

I hope you're up to a having a new puppy too. I know you're experienced with dogs, and you know what you're in for, but you're struggling right now. I just hope it isn't too much for you.

I'm doing well, I had a very long work week, but I'm off for the weekend, and then again on Wednesday. I have some projects lined up for today- a cake to decorate, the greenhouse to vacuum, and I want to get on my tread mill. Oh, and I'm making a taco lunch for my son who is working afternoons this week. Nothing exciting, just nice things to be able to do after being stuck at work all week.

I'm getting ready to bake Lauren's birthday cake and run to my hairdresser to pick up some eggs she brought me. She and her family has a mini farm. Then I've got to clean the rest of the house.

Hey Dinkie! I was just thinking about you and wondering how you're doing. I'm so sorry about your foot, it's horrible when you hurt a foot, after all you have to use them to walk so you feel the hurt most of the time!!

I totally understand how you feel about little Mickey. My Paisley will be gone 2 years this September and I'm starting to think about getting another fur ball to love. I'm retiring July 1st and I want to see how active I will be first...like trips and stuff. If I do find another kitty I think I'll get a 3 or 4 year old rescue.

I'm sorry you are hurting in more ways than one. It is so hard to lose a doggie. Three years ago on New Year's day early morning, I let Amber's rottweiler out to potty, she was getting up there in years and was diabetic,
she had pottied in her pen and I let her out, grabbed a newspaper to pick up the potty, went right back out to get rid of it and "Baby" was gone. It was dark, very windy, and it had been raining a lot. It was terrible, we never found her. We do believe she went right to the creek which is normally pretty small. Because of all the rain it was very swift and we think she just knew it was time to go. She never went near it before and it was just a very short time, maybe a minute at the most from the time she was let out till the time I was back out the door..

I know how you feel. There will be brighter days ahead.

((((Hugs)))) about the bad foot. Is there anything you can "do" during diaylsis, like crochet, or read, or work on needlework? That is, if you enjoy those sorts of things.

I think the puppy will add spark and smiles to your day. It will give you very positive energy and you won't have much time to think about unhappy things.

Just the thought of Harry going missing sends me into a panic. I can only imagine your pain at not finding Mickey. I trust that God is holding her, safe and happy, now. I know our pets will be waiting for us. God and Heaven is all about love. We wouldn't have a taste of this great love now to lose it in Eternity.

READING

Today I'm going to town (major undertaking here!) to pick up a prescription and stop by the used bookstore. I got sucked into watching "Twilight" and now, of course, I have to read the entire Stephenie Meyer series.

I'd heard about the books; I'd seen them in the bookstores. Both my older niece and nephew (he swore me so secrecy, LOL but I don't think he'll worry about the KT knowing) said how much they enjoyed the books. Several people mentioned how much better the books were than the movie (as always.) Still, I thought "high school teenage angst with a vampire twist"...nah, I didn't "do" teenage angst when I was a teenager. I can do without it now.

So, I watch the movie. I'm charmed. Now I'm going to read the books.

The very same thing happened with the Harry Potter series.

PURPLE MARTINS

My Purple Martins should return around April 30. Wes restrung the ropes on the pole's pulleys Friday and got the rack system working. I've been spiffing up the gourds and making minor repairs. I have four of the eight gourds filled with the pre-nests and hung. I'll get the other four finished by tomorrow. Then the decoys go on and the rack goes up to it's 14-ft. height and all I have to do is wait patiently. I don't do "patient" very well.

HOUSE

Still waiting on the bathroom tile person, but the medicine cabinets I designed turned out to be even more gorgeous that I could have hoped for. Can't wait to get them installed.

Wes is pulling up the 1970s carpeting out of the basement. Thank God in Heaven. Once he's finished I'll be able to stand to be down there long enough to get some projects finished.

I'm designing a built-in system for the awkward south-end of the living room. It will include a window seat under the 5-ft. square window. The seat will have a deep pull-out drawer and a cushy cushion; I'm sure Harry and Sunbeam Sammy will love it.

There will be an 18"-wide drawer-cabinet on each side of the window seat with adjustable bookcase tops that reaches to the ceiling. The bookcase sections will have doors to keep down the visual clutter. The doors may have textured or stained glass inserts.

To the to the left of this set-up will be a 40"-wide coat/broom closet with a deep drawer base.

I can "see" it; I just have to get it measured and drawn out.

Sorry about your foot. We have a pair of robins building a nest right outside my window. It is so much fun watching tnem.

Dinkie, so sorry you hurt your foot. Hope the dialysis is getting better for you. Mine sure has, it's been over a year and a half. I was so sorry when Mickey disappeared, so glad you are getting one who's related to her. Be sure to post more when you get your new puppy. Looking forward to better days ahead!
