awww, so happy about everyone's bees! And bless you, Rita and Iris! Yesterday I only got through the 1st 3 posts and as soooooon as I read Rita's borage, I immediately googled because since my last post on how to balance a garden organically, many had recommended several herbs and borage was a completely new one...and then I dropped everything and drove like mad to the all! the nurseries and garden centers near me to try to find Rita's and Mr. Bumblebee's borage... I haven't been able to find any yet and sites say to plant in early spring but I am definitely going to be ordering seeds for next year! And the whole day yesterday I was doing a happy bumblebee buzzing dance. After I got back from 3 borage searches at various garden centers, I planted my herbs, verona, meadow sage/salvia until 9:00 p.m.! (all that's left is my bee baum, have to transplant my 3 lavender because of the gladiolus, and my catnip and 3 lilies) Then when I visited my parents later that evening to share some cake with them, every word out of my mouth was bumblebee, bumblebee. And the hilarious part is that besides roses I love gourmet cooking (am a real fan of Iron Chef of America), but I can't bear to eat any of my herbs lol! I want to save every single leaf and flower for Mr. Bumblebee... And look what a tempting treat this borage cupcake would be... and would I ever eat Mr. Bumblebee's flowers????? no way! Rita, I can't even begin to tell you how excited I'll be once I get the chance to plant this flowering borage for fuzzy-wuzzy koochy-woochy super Cute-to-the-max Bumblebee....

I guess I should answer your question about my day. READING Today I'm going to town (major undertaking here!) to pick up a prescription and stop by the used bookstore. I got sucked into watching "Twilight" and now, of course, I have to read the entire Stephenie Meyer series. I'd heard about the books; I'd seen them in the bookstores. Both my older niece and nephew (he swore me so secrecy, LOL but I don't think he'll worry about the KT knowing) said how much they enjoyed the books. Several people mentioned how much better the books were than the movie (as always.) Still, I thought "high school teenage angst with a vampire twist"...nah, I didn't "do" teenage angst when I was a teenager. I can do without it now. So, I watch the movie. I'm charmed. Now I'm going to read the books. The very same thing happened with the Harry Potter series. PURPLE MARTINS My Purple Martins should return around April 30. Wes restrung the ropes on the pole's pulleys Friday and got the rack system working. I've been spiffing up the gourds and making minor repairs. I have four of the eight gourds filled with the pre-nests and hung. I'll get the other four finished by tomorrow. Then the decoys go on and the rack goes up to it's 14-ft. height and all I have to do is wait patiently. I don't do "patient" very well. HOUSE Still waiting on the bathroom tile person, but the medicine cabinets I designed turned out to be even more gorgeous that I could have hoped for. Can't wait to get them installed. Wes is pulling up the 1970s carpeting out of the basement. Thank God in Heaven. Once he's finished I'll be able to stand to be down there long enough to get some projects finished. I'm designing a built-in system for the awkward south-end of the living room. It will include a window seat under the 5-ft. square window. The seat will have a deep pull-out drawer and a cushy cushion; I'm sure Harry and Sunbeam Sammy will love it. There will be an 18"-wide drawer-cabinet on each side of the window seat with adjustable bookcase tops that reaches to the ceiling. The bookcase sections will have doors to keep down the visual clutter. The doors may have textured or stained glass inserts. To the to the left of this set-up will be a 40"-wide coat/broom closet with a deep drawer base. I can "see" it; I just have to get it measured and drawn out.

Was supposed to rain today, so I went on a shopping trip. Drove for 2 hours (closest Sam's, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Joann Fabrics, etc) and shopped til I dropped. Having lots of company coming in a week, so needed to stock up on lots of things. 12 to 15 people will be coming thru during the week and 2 dogs. Had to start planning meals. One DDIL has Celiac's disease and we really have to be careful with gluten. Plus, she's pregnant! Makes cooking a little more difficult, but she sure is worth it. Never did rain today, so I missed a good day to work in the yard. Kathy G in MI

Not too much. Spent the morning visiting my aunt at the assisted living facility. Then came home and polished the upstairs floors with Old English Scratch Cover--does a GREAT job on floors. Then spent some time organizing and paying bills. DH came home late--they've been working overtime every day--and I reached into the freezer to get some bacon for BLT's.... Ooops, knew I had bacon, but I realized it's at the other house, so we ran out for Chick Fila. Then, when we got home, the little gal next door was out, she got interested when she saw my husband changing the batteries in my metal detector, so I tossed a handful of change into the back yard when she wasn't looking and let her have fun finding it.
