What do you have planned for the week-end? I will have my

3yr old grandson Connor until Sunday starting later this

afternoon. So my plans are for fun,fun, fun.

I'm off work today, and I plan on working in the greenhouse, and going for a walk. If my dogs feel better, I will also take them for a short walk-we'll see. Other than that, I just want to do yard work, and relax.

DD#6 and SIL are coming up for the weekend.....probably go to a smelt fry tomorrow evening.

I posted the photo on the gallery side: Gallery posting I tried putting just the photo here, but it wouldn't let me. Thanks for that link, Ellen. Now I know what part of the design means (I think). I'll have to do more research on that. I had given my sister some mudcloth that I had bought at an African festival a few years back for her birthday, and she uses it as a throw for one of her sofas. I guess that's easier than trying to make something out of it. Linda, making a headboard is fairly easy, but then I do have quite a bit of experience with upholstery. It's important to glue the foam to the board with upholstery glue (which goes on like a web) so that it doesn't shift when you are attaching the fabric. Also, we bought an electric staple gun, which made the job a lot easier. I think it does require two people, however. Lars Here is a link that might be useful:

WOW! From the bottom of my heart Thank You Thank You Thank You all! I loved and greatly appreciated the hugs and support, commiseration and encomium. I guess it's true: misery loves company! Although I am so sorry anyone has to feel stress during what should be an exciting, wonderful time. (Guess this applies to both remodeling as well as child-rearing, although it's laughable to think either could be without stress! Thats why two of my favorite parenting books are The B**ch in the House and Mothers Who Think.) You know the way the child of an alcoholic might be reluctant to ever drink for fear of turning into their parent? For me, that's the way I feel about yelling. My mother was mean as spit and her yelling was ugly, personal, belittling and usually segued into hitting. I'm sure this is why my yelling at my children rattled me so. I waited a long time to start my family (I was 34 when I had my first) so that I could go through therapy to ensure I did not turn into my mother. (I think this is common here in the States, not wanting to turn into our parents!) So more than you know, I sincerely, deeply appreciate the comments of telling me I handled it well and that I'm a good mother and haven't scarred my children for life. That's my biggest fear -- I mean, I am terrified of heights, but the fear of hurting my children paralyzes me. Yesterday (day after yelling) my 3.5 year-old and I attended a birthday party, dressed, at his urging (this was not a costume party), as Spiderman and Spidermom. He wanted everyone to know "we're superheroes together!" After we got home, my 19 month-old asked me for a "tickle-cuddle," so I guess they've both forgiven me as well as moved past it. Kids are more resilient than I give them credit for. Phew! hilltophome, I think you are right, that I need to just put the cats in the basement (where we hang out lots so they won't be without human companionship) because their long-term well-being is much more important than their short-term sun-worshiping. And with a wonderful user name like cat_mom, I bet she'll agree! kitchenkelly, thank you for the use of your morgue drawers! Even though I have a foul mouth and talk a big talk, I'm a pacifist, so I'm really hopeful I won't borrow them. But it'll make an excellent threat to the next jerk who crosses my path! (re: my foul mouth: The night of the dirty bathroom, my 3.5 year-old asked his daddy "Why's Dux [his name for me] 'so f***ing angry?'" Ahem.) Francy, thank you both for letting me know you've walked in my shoes as well as saying I handled it well! Coming from you, who has such a sweet presence here on GW, means a lot. raehelen and hilltophome, thank you for reminding me of two of my favorite self-soothers: chocolate and exercise. I really do need to just put the kiddos in the buggy and go out for a walk! Fresh air can do wonders. And if there's a chocolate treat for the three of us to have midway on our walk, all the better. (This is how I know the boys are genetically mine: they both love chocolate. One of my proudest achievements Â.) divamum, thank you for your impeccable list of daily to-dos and reminder of how hard this is supposed to be .... I remember a few years ago a casual acquaintance and I were chatting about how we never, ever heard our parents apologize to us when they were wrong, and how much it would have meant to us to have heard it. Not just because it would have made us feel appreciated but also because it would have been a great model for us in terms of how to behave. Thank you. And I loved your note about my husband relating to spa day! Now there's a brilliant idea. .... polly929, my hero! I am so sorry about the past two years -- hopefully this leap year will signal the start of something good for you. I am with you on the no-smoking! And thank you for suggesting those ground rules. They are superb and have already (because of your suggestion) been passed on to the GC. Also, thank you for your perfect description of "feel[ing] the steam rising." That's it! But it seems like lots of the parents with whom I casually chat 'round here are either big-time prevaricators or Stepford Mommies; they absolutely deny getting frustrated with their kiddos (or occasionally bored with hanging out with toddlers all day long). That's when I wonder what in the hell must be wrong with me to feel this way? I guess it's just easy for me to chalk it up to cultural differences, but I guess some people are just born that way. One silver lining for me is that living with my ez has made me so much stronger, forceful than I ever thought I could be. Because of dealing with his non-presence in many areas I've found a voice (okay, a yelling voice the other day!). I would rather he step up to bat every so often, but I do like the feeling of the empowerment I've developed while living with him. flyleft and mommycooks, thank you for your generous, unconditional support! Such kindness from people I donÂt even know. You and your notes are what should be in one of those MasterCard "Priceless" commercials! And, flyleft, the insurance with which I'm having trouble is ... United! Imagine that. I am so ticked about this, that medical insurance agencies are for-profit entities, and that now many of them are transferring their call centers off-shore, to minimize what they have to pay (US taxes, US salaries, US health care to their workers, etc.)! I guess I may be one of the stupidest people alive because for the life of me I still cannot understand why denying people legitimate, preventive / proactive healthcare is not as good as letting them get sick, suffer and / or die, or making them wait so that the treatment they will require ends up costing the insurance company even more. Seriously, what am I not getting? You all are amazing. IÂll never forget this.

Hubby and I go on Sunday, usually every other Sunday after we do breakfast out.. I really try to keep stocked up so I don"t have to go to the grocery store between these shopping trips.. I used to be one of those that was in our local Wal-Mart every day. I am now more organized, plan my meals ahead of time.. cook extra and freeze for later use, we do some shopping at Costco, and another discount food market, We have cut our grocery bill consiterably since doing this.. the least amount of visits to the store, the less likly to spend on impluse. I am now big on making lists and menu planning, at first it was a hassel, but now I enjoy knowing what is for dinner, and enjoy the fact all the items needed for that meal are at hand.. once in a while I have to make a quick run to the store but not too often. Another tip is i freeze milk, since that is one item than tends to run out..

Today I got up early to go to the farmer's market in Lexington. It's right downtown on a one-way street and no nearby parking. Bad set up. I was in the wrong lane when I went by what public parking I did manage to find so I gave up and went through Versailles on the way home just in case their market was open. It was. Bought a few things there. I struck up a conversation with a guy selling beer cheese and he told me there was a better market in Frankfort, downtown but with parking right there. I decided to go there after I left. Went to Frankfort and bought even more stuff including hormone free ground chuck. We're going to eat some of it tonight for dinner. I was looking for eggs but the only guy selling was out of chicken eggs. He only had quail eggs and they were tiny. Decided to pass. I really got excited when I found a huge red bell pepper for 50 cents! They're outrageous in Kroger or Wal-Mart and not so fresh. I also found some small fresh peaches. Not those huge, hard as a rock ones you find in stores, but juicy ones. I've been hanging out at the market gardening forum here and another site and thinking of buying some land somewhere and moving so I can have a market garden myself someday. (3-5 years from now possibly) I did it for a few years when I lived down south. We had two acres and I was working on turning most of it into gardening space. That's one of the reasons I went to the markets today, I wanted to check them out and get some fresh food. Did the rest of the grocery shopping and went through McD's for an ice tea and saw two guys set up in the parking lot across from it. They were selling corn which I hadn't seen at the other markets. So, bought some corn from them. Tomorrow it's back to reality and work. ) :

I'll be cheering for one kid or another most of the weekend.
My mom is coming just for the weekend. Long drive to see the kids. She'll arrive very late tonight. She told me yesterday! So I have to get a bed ready and clean the bathrooms, that's enough for her, she won't judge.

Until then, I'm gonna sub 1/2 day this afternoon. Go straight to the kids' school to pick them up, take DD to gymnastics practice a few minutes late, then to a b-day party for a teammate. While she's at practice, I'll go pick up a gift for that. Nothing like last minute. Won't get home til about 9, that'll give me a couple hours to tidy up a bit more.

Tomorrow we'll all go to DS 6 y/o's baseball game in the a.m. Then the other boys roller hockey practices. Dinner later, I guess, maybe cook out, supposed to be nice.

Sunday we have to leave at 0.early to take DD to her gymnastics meet, last one, the big one, of the year. That's why grandma is coming. ;o) That will take most of the day. I'll be up at 5:30 doing her hair. In the afternoon, we have roller hockey games.

That's my weekend. This is the end of gym season, so weekends will get a little easier after this.

I plan to rake out the flower beds and move some of the hosta that are beginning to sprout. If I get energetic, maybe I will buy and spread some mulch.

I'm so excited! I've planned a "worm workshop" for tomorrow morning. (I do vermicomposting). Socks 1234 can relate, and I'm sure other people on here do it.

I asked if anyone would be interested in learning about it, on our local Cafe website and I have 12 people coming!
I'm having it in the common room of our apartment building, everyone is really looking forward to it.

Sunday we're going to my brother's. He and his girlfriend gave DH and my step-father tickets for them all to see We Will Rock You; a tribute concert to the rock band Queen.
The women are going to stay home and watch Marley and Me. I don't like Queen, and Jeff's g.f. has seen it and loved it. So she wants to stay with us and we'll hang out.

Just the usual laundry and lite house cleaning.

Will also be copying my new music CD's, 3 by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Hawaiian singer and 3 CD's by SIX. I have a Bose radio/4 CD changer in the living room and Bose in the car so need to convert them to MP3's and copy one for my alarm radio in the bedroom. I put the originals away so they don't get broken or lost.

If you haven't heard Israel (IZ) you need to google him and listen to samples. He is wonderful, soft voice, singing island music.

I have a busy weekend scheduled....I'm the wedding coordinator at our church and the 1st wedding of the season is this weekend...Rehearsal is tonight and then the wedding is tomorrow afternoon...I'll be happy, if I can get them all in place and it goes well....Sunday, I'm going to a senior luncheon...The Student Council at our high school honors "us old" people every year and it's great...Good food and the show choir and jazz band from the school will perform....
Before we know it, the weekend is over and come Monday we start all over again....

Garage sales, starting tonight and into tomorrow. Sunday, church, pancake breakfast to raise funds for a fairly local fire department, then driving to and photographing some more nearby waterfalls. The temps are going to be in the upper 30s and they're forecasting rain so the weather could be nicer but it will still be a fun weekend. Especially as I worked much of the last one.

No rest for me this weekend. Before I left for Texas I purchased a bunch of Americraft cookware which need to be washed and put into my cabinets. Before that can be done we have to unload all my lower cabinets and clean them out. Neither Mike nor I can kneel down so Bobby will have to get everything out.

Then I also purchased a new entertainment center. The old one has to be emptied and moved into Bobby's room. First we have to dismantle his room and get rid of his book shelves. Then it will be time to get the new unit in place so we can go purchase a new HDTV.

It never ends, there is always something to do around here.

Went to a few garage sales this morning and then went and put some things in my flea market booth and tidied it up a little. Going to a softball tournament tomorrow about two hours away. Nine teams there - so it will be a long day/night! Who am I kidding? Love to watch my DGD play! LOL

We are at friends for our monthly weekend away. They moved some distance from us a few years ago and we have made it a standing weekend. Just a relaxing time for all. And I get to knit to my old heart's content.

Tomorrow is my DH's birthday, so we will get together with my son and his children and eat and have cake etc.
Sunday we will probably just relax and do things around the house.

I'm going to my 2 yr old great nephew's B'day. Such a doll. Dean has a friend from Ft. Worth in and they are going to take the Vet to Padre Island on Sunday to meet up with other friends. I will then have 5 days to myself. LOL! Loving it.

I did lots of work at the cabin/trailer Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I'm tired today, and sleepy because it's grey and cold. It was 89Â° yesterday and 43Â° today. Hard to believe. I thought summer was here after 3 days of beautiful weather. Ahhhhhh Nebraska weather.
I think I'll take a nap.

Well, my weekend started out differently than I planned. I had forgotten that I had a medical appt this morning at 8:30-weird to have it on a Saturday, that's why I forgot. But at least I remembered and got there. Then I went to a local greenhouse and bought a couple of things. Then I got home, my son was just leaving for work, and he got an email to show his house. I agreed to do it, so DH and I drove to St. Catharines and showed it, then we went shopping. I picked up my prescription, and I'm waiting for a friend to drop by. So, it's been a busy, productive day so far.

I've been trying to get my friend's income tax return returned to her for signing, then to drop off at the tax office, to save postage, but rearrangements regarding her daughter's arrival from the west coast interfered ... and I'd done it wrongly, so had to do it over today.

I have two to do for another friend ... and my own to do, as well ... so I'll be busy.

I think that my last year's return isn't in the place that it's supposed to be ... so expect to need to go digging for it.

I arranged affairs to pay about 9% last year, but suspect that it'll be some higher, this year.

Wish me good skill in my calculations, folks, please! Better than for my friend: I'd neglected to add senior's low-income supplement, which caused slight reduction in some credits, but isn't taxed itself.
