Best mini chopper?

I had one mini chopper that I absolutely loved, and DH gave it away :( Apparently, he thought I never used it (I actually used it nearly every day, but I digress.) Since then I've been through 2 other ones that didn't even come close to it. One was a Black and Decker, the next was an Oster. I can't remember what brand the original was. Any recommendations? I want something that can make very fine breadcrumbs, pesto sauce, and chop veggies. Thanks in advance.

Don't know if it's the "best" but have a Cuisinart mini-chopper. Only has 2 speeds... low and high... but seems pretty powerful. Easy to clean up. And found it at a thrift store for cheap... hadda be $5 or less... kinda my limit!?!

And the ad says- "as seen on TV". It will get dull quite fast. Acidic foods tend to dull the blades. For me, its just a mini food processor. For me its an Oskar, which is not available anymore. Here is a link that might be useful: Mini chopper that is similar

Due to space concerns and because I cook only for myself, I use one of the mini choppers (Black & Decker/Toastmaster) in place of a standard food processor. I have been surprised at what a good job it does and how versatile it can be. I got mine on sale for around $8 eight years ago and consider it to be one of my favorite tools. If I need to "process" larger quantities, I simply do it in batches. I see on the internet that the regular price ranges between $12-$17 so should it ever fail, it is not a big deal to replace.

You’re not going to like my response, but I actually had one of these, a Cuisinart. Got rid if it! My issues with it were: it did not chop evenly so you’d get big pieces at the same time as tiny minced pieces at the same time as liquefied pieces. It did not hold a lot, or if you overfilled it, there’d be even more uneven pieces, and some getting liquefied so all could get chopped. Also, once you chopped your onion, carrot, or whatever, it took a while to get everything out of the chopper cause it was stuck to the sides and blades and there was no easy way to get the chopped pieces out of the nooks and crannies. Also, it was more of a chore to clean the several parts of the chopper. And it took up space in my cabinet. Instead it is so much faster, easier, cleaner, and better chopped results to simply take out a knife and chop on a cutting board. There are many youtube videos on how to chop things properly if you need help in that.

Anyone have feedback on KitchenAid 3.5 Cup Food Chopper KFC3516?

First, Walnutcreek, a lot of people have had difficulty with getting this KA opened, but if is sper easy — so easy that it might be what confuses some. I will try to include a link that is excellent and demonstrating this. But, for now, here is a simple narrative for putting on and removing the KitchenAid (KA) mini chopper: Leave the spindle and the blade out of this for now, and have the unit unplugged. With the chopper facing you, and with the handle to the right or in front of you I should say, set the bowl down on the unit with the handle at about the 4 or 5 o’clock position. You may have to swivel it around a bit to find the notched out area and you will hear it fall into place. When it has clicked into place (muffled, click, not a sharp click and you can sense it as well as hear it), turn the handle counter clockwise until the handle is it the 3 o’clock position. This position also will make a slight audible muffled click. For the cover, do this. In a similar way to the work bowl, put the cover on at about the same orientation so that the part of the cover (that black portion with the little thumb hollow) is out about the 4 o’clock or 5 o’clock position in relation to the top of the work bowl. Then, without pressing down on anything, gently rotate the top the cover counter clockwise until it is over the handle of the work bowl. You may hear a little bit of a click or a muffled clicking noise. It should now be in the proper place. The work-bowl and the cover must be in the proper alignment for the unit to turn on and work. The cover does not contain a switch, but lines up over a thin metal rod in the work-bowl that in over a switch in the body of the chopper. Depressing on the thumb hollow on the handle will mechanically depress the rod in the work-bowl that will then make contact with the switch in the body of the chopper. These parts need to fit together in a precise way for the chopper to turn on and to only turn on when the parts are aligned so that there are no injuries to the operator. To REMOVE the cover: without depressing the hollow thumb area, just give that area of the cover a little push forward so that is slides clockwise away from the work-bowl handle. Once it is clear of the work bowl handle, the cover can be removed. It’s very easy. Just understand how it must work (the logic of the mechanics), and remember to not apply any downward pressure to the cover at the thumb area when removing, turning it. Oooooh man if MY husband did that ....well, I'm sure I'd mss him at some point but it would be a while.

I have a little Sunbeam Oskar that has been a little workhorse in my kitchen. I've had it for years and years.

I have an old Hamilton Beach, and I like it because it has slow speeds and will make pickle relish without making pickle puree. I also use it for making deviled ham/turkey, and it will chop everything just the way I like it, but I have to add the ingredients in a certain order or else take them out to put something else in. It's good for making pesto, which I like to have chunky instead of pureed. I puree most of it but put the pine nuts in last and then pulse it to get a coarse chop.

A friend of mine had a Cuisinart, and it would puree everything in seconds and therefore was difficult to control. Make sure you get one with a pulse option and multiple speeds. I also have a Kitchenaid hand blender with a chopper attachment, but I don't use it because it is really too small to be of much use. I tend to use my mini food processor more than the large one because it is easier to clean.

I've had a Mini Oskar for at least 20 years. I loved it until I got a Magic Bullet. Now the Mini Oskar is at the camp and I use the Magic Bullet daily. I've had the Magic Bullet almost 5 years and can't imagine life without it.

I use it to chop, for smoothies and frozen drinks, making salad dressings and sauces and as a juicer. It's so easy to clean. I love the mugs you can just blend in and go. The easy of use, power and easy cleaning have me sold.

I have a Krups which I have used for about 12 years, and it is still going strong. Prior to that had one that I cannot recall the brand of, but it lasted for around 30 years.

I must be the only one here that uses a non-motorized mini chopper! LOL Mine is a Pampered Chef that you smack the knob on the top to chop or mince. For big jobs I use my food processor, but for small jobs I do love my little PC chopper.

I just recently bought a small, individual serving blender, similar to the Magic Bullet, but made by GE. Have only used it once, so far to make a smoothie, but I think it'll come in handy. It has both a grinding and a chopping blade.
