Gruyere cheese question

I plan on making a seafood lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner. The recipe calls for gruyere cheese. I was a bit sticker shocked while shopping. Guyere is $10.00 lb. at our local grocery store. I went ahead and purchased an 8 oz pack, which is approximately half of the cheese needed. Is there a reasonable substitution for the remaining cheese that might be easier on the budget? Would parmesan work? Or maybe something that would melt creamier, like muenster? Thanks for your help. You all seem to know your way around the kitchen. I have never used gruyere before, and don't really know what it would compare to, if anything.
