Yea or nay on chair fabric
Comments (33)OK, done deal. We had a day without snow and I returned the other fabric. The hand really had me concerned. So now I found another one and it is the one. The color is deeper gold, more like the rug, so it doesn't disappear or float in the room. It's interesting as, in the light, it has a bit of a sheen almost like a satin. But mostly I love the feel. The hand is very pliable. It's a very soft microsuede that feels almost like a moleskin. So soft against the skin. And I tested it for wrinkles and they fall right out. And it was about 1/2 the price of the other one. So I got a couple of extra yards so I could make pillows or what not. I hope you all like it, but if not, that's ok too...I'm happy. I'm ready to call the upholsterer. GF hates this kind of fabric as it leaves tracks and marks and such, but I think it's part of the beauty of the fabric.......See More1 panel, 2 panel, valance, solid, pattern....ugh.
Comments (35)Terriks did a great job with her mockups! I think the window panels are right, but I would NOT put panels on either side of the french doors. I think you are changing the effect of the built-ins and crowding the space visually. As I said, I would do roman shades or gathered panels on the doors in the same fabric as your window panels. The other thing I would love to see would be a shelf that spans between the two built-ins, probably at the height of the top shelves in the cabinets. Paint the shelf the same color as the cabinets. You could paint the wall behind that shelf in the cabinet color as well, so it would feel like a part of the cabinets, and the crown above it would help that feeling. What I keep thinking about in the room is painting the back walls of the cabinets in the accent color of the lamps, or another color if you prefer. In that case, I would paint behind the shelf over the doors in that same accent color....See MoreStatic Roman Shade as Valance
Comments (22)Thanks for your suggestions, Loves2read! I have realized while checking out Annie's suggestions and doing my own search that I need to match the coordinating fabric in person. The blue, in particular, would need to be right in order to use it in such large swipes in the room (door blind and the kitchen wt) and still keep that cohesive look. I know that when I am matching photo to photo that I am finding "matches" with blues that I know are not right. I also think I need to be aware of the sheen/weight of the fabric. This has almost a chintz feel and a slight sheen. I think I need a fabric that can stand up to it.. if that makes sense.. and I am not sure you can see that in a photo (though the darn wrinkles sure showed.. it does wrinkle easily). Thanks again to all.. I have ideas to work with. Now I need to hit the pavement and start looking!...See MoreBeadboard Ceiling, Yeah or Nay? DH thinks too much?
Comments (11)Thanks, Tinker! I think i remember your kitchen too, and the cherry green and white wallpaper --- you bought this home recently, yes? A lot of us thought the kitchen looked pretty nice, but i think you said the cabinets were in sorry shape. As for colors, I did my kitchen about 9 years ago now, so I have no idea. The cabinets were Rutt, and it was one of their colors. I basically walked into a showroom and said "i want those cabinets". That was when I was a normal productive human being instead of TKO. The color was pretty buttery though, almost crossing the line from cream to yellow. Reminds me of FnB off white (misleading name) Here is a link that might be useful: creamy yellowy white...See Morebethcw
