I did vanilla cabinets which are a pale yellow with stained cypress bottoms. This was the only picture I could find but at least you can see the contrast against the white. My cabinets are Wellborn Forest cabinets (not to be confused with Wellborn cabinets). I absolutely love the cabinets. Hope this helps.

Thanks sduck, I am so used to decorating with revamped used stuff and mixing with some new, and painting my own pictures ect and I am also programmed to think resale which is screwing with my head. If I could have salvaged the cabinets I have I really donÂt think IÂd be having problems and would be in a comfortable place creatively. But this new kitchen is such a big permanent purchase for me so I find myself not as confident as usual and needy of some visual confirmation.

me too to all. I struggled with traditional for resale and what I really wanted, more eclectic cottage for just me. I went with what I wanted. Have you looked at finished Kitchens for inspiration? French kittys was one of my first favorites and so many followed.

Better Homes and Gardens just had a kitchen with yellow cabinets, walnut counters and cherry knobs that was great. I think the yellow was BM Simply Inspiring or something? I can't find it online but I did find yellow outers with a wood island, and that might be close enough to help you visualize.

In my previous home (2004 reno) I had charcoal/black painted maple base cabs. They were simple and traditional in style. I had chosen butter cream yellow uppers to go with it. My island was an antique pine piece from Scotland. It was all really beautiful together. Before placing the cabinet order we decided against uppers of any kind and instead I painted the walls the same yellow butter cream color the uppers would have been. I had crisp white trim and lots of art on the walls (both vintage and pops of contemporary). My countertops were cambria Victoria and that tied in the yellow and black together very well. It was a beautiful kitchen and I had many compliments on it. It was one of the biggest selling factors last year. I know dark painted lowers are not the same as your dark stained cabinetry but they have the same value. I've seen some examples in magazines or books...but I cannot remember where. I'll keep an eye out and if I find your combo of uppers and lowers I'll post again. For the what-it's-worth department, I can easily visualize your idea and I think it's fantastic. I'd do it in a minute. It surely didn't hurt my resale at all...even in an economic downturn. It only took 45 days to sell last spring.

Thank you brickton, your picture was helpful because that wall color looks exactly like what I have in my house so I can now see what the creamy yellow cabinets will look like up against the yellow walls in a kitchen with lots of light like mine. I like!

Storklady, oh your past kitchen sounds so lovely, wish you had pictures. IÂm keeping my BooÂs 10" meat block island...not the same as your antique pine island but I was a bit worried about it working with the rest of the picks, I feel better now. The other thing I was worried about though is the muted terracotta grotto tile and if by having the dark cabinets on the bottom and light on top (also stacking upper cabinets with 18" h cabs) that the kitchen would somehow look bottom heavy due to the fact that I do not have a lighter flooring...worry, worry, worry lol!

jterrilynn, funny, I also have terra cotta floors that I had put in years ago and kept. Everytime I found a cabinet I liked, I brought home and leaned it up against the old cabinets so I could see with the floor. The natural color I wanted looked awful. I never would have picked the cypress stain I ended up with if I didn't bring a sample home and it went perfectly with the terra cotta floor. I think I have suttle green in with the red on the floor.

Thanks sduck and all, I am now starting to feel "it", but oh I had better watch it now that IÂm getting excited. I just came across some beautiful swarovski crystal polished nickel cabinet knobs...oh my heart is fluttering because I want a little bling that only nice crystal can bring, but whaaaaaaaaah they are over $30 a piece. I donÂt care about jewelry for myself but I really want to buy some for my new kitchen because itÂs going to work so hard and I just know it will really deserve it. However, since I would never get a chance to enjoy my new kitchen if I spent that much money I must get it out of my mind right now. Boo hoo on the momentary joy.
