Delicatus White Granite or Bianco Antico for Peppercorn Cherry..
Comments (13)kitchenaddict-my granite is called golden lapidus and DH and I love it but the delicatus would have allowed me to keep my old appliances which were white. I could have waited to replace them. Unfortunately, the white clashed with my granite so stainless is now sitting in my kitchen-smudges, fingerprints, and all!! The granite is in a category labeled Old World/Tuscan-very earthy colors-butterscotch, caramel, hot fudge brown, black, gray, some white, lots of sparkly things. When I saw the delicatus it was too late but it would have worked in my kitchen. BA is a very nice granite but I like something that's more off the beaten track. I've only seen one other kitchen with my granite on the finished kitchens web site. Haven't seen a lot of kitchens with delicatus but if you google delicatus granite it will bring up a page that has a link to an old post 08/08 talking about this granite with pics. You can see the kitchens of daki, iris16, and dd70. Good luck....See MoreCherry Cabs & wood flooring-too dark?
Comments (5)How about ivory glazed cabs? If you have an island or the cabinet area is broken up in such a way where you can use two finishes, even better. I have dark wood floors, and perimeter cabs are a dark stain alderwood, with interior cabs being ivory glazed. It really does keep the kitchen from becoming too dark, as well as making it a little more unique. This site has a great variety of pictures to give you ideas. Here is a link that might be useful: cabinets...See MoreFinished Cherry Kitchen with Delicatus Brown
Comments (26)Thank you for the kind words, everyone. Senator, I love quarter-sawn oak. I look forward to seeing your finished kitchen. I considered QS oak for our cabinets, but didn't want to overdo the A&C style too much in our home, since it's not a period home. We do have a few pieces of QS oak furniture, and I absolutely love the grain in the wood. I'm sure you're kitchen will be a showstopper and I look forward to seeing it. We weren't sure about the idea of a corner sink at first. We were careful to order a large enough cabinet to allow for placement of the sink as close to the front edge of the counter as possible. The larger cabinet cost us a few inches of storage on either side and created a larger triangular area behind the sink than we would have needed. We were concerned about the possibility of developing back strain from reaching too far into the sink. As it turned out, the corner sink is comfortable to work at, and the placement makes it much more of an interesting place to work, as well. The spot behind the sink is turning out to be a great place to slide the coffee maker when it's perking away and not need to worry about steam hitting the upper cabinets. I remember reading a thread about that issue recently. Motherof3sons, here is the magic corner in several positions. I ended up storing some things that I don't frequently use in that space. Consequently, I haven't given it heavy usage yet, but it seems to operate very smoothly and is sturdy....See MoreFinally 100% finished Cherry cabinet kitchen
Comments (36)Melanie1121 - the website for Oceanside tiles is http://www.glasstile.com/ If you have an Expo design Center - they may carry the tiles. I was pleasantly surprised that they have them where I am and you may be able to catch a 10%, 15% or rare but possibly a 20% off sale. If you have to go to a tile showroom - see if your KD, tile installer, or designer has one they send people to. At least for me - the price off the street was 30% more than Expo and if I had come to them via a vendor, the vendor would have had a discount that hopefully would have been extended to me. I was very lucky to get a price match. I think the only place I could find that had it was Expo and the distributor/showroom listed on the website. Thanks for all the kind words - still loving the kitchen - But did I say I was 100% done, actually I still need to get organizers for the cabinets. So I guess it is really 99.5% done :) Well I had that done feeling for maybe a week....See Morebeeps
