A wonderful two weeks and a not so good yesterday

My husband and I renewed our vows on our 50th anniversary. All of my family was here and it was wonderful visiting with them. They did a wonderful job on the wedding and reception for us. My husband's lung cancer has returned and he has had quite a few problems. He was getting chemo which seemed to be helping.Then he had PAD and had to have some blockages removed.Then he had partial hip replacement and the part they took out just crumbled.It was cancer. Now the blockage has returned and the chemo is not working. The oncologist told us yesterday that they will try a new treatment,but it will only give him a little more time and a better quality of life. I am trying to stay strong and keep the faith,but I could sure use some helpful prayers.

Thank you so much!! I will do that. First I better tell you the area we're in. We live in Illinois between the Mississippi River and Rock River in the Quad Cities (Ever hear of the Rock Island lines or John Deere of Moline, Illinois?...well, we're from the Rock Island/Moline area.) Here is the wading bird that's so dark looking. I'm so sorry these photos are so small and hard to see...there was a huge marshy area between me and the birds. I'm in the market for a better zoom lens, but WOW have you seen the price of them?? This is the swooper...some sort of plover or sandpiper maybe? At first I thought it was a swallow of some sort...then when I saw the photo I thought maybe a killdeer, but I don't think so. Sorry these are poor photos too...it flashed by me so quickly, I just snapped away as a spur of the moment thing! Would someone please confirm that this is a female redwing blackbird? This one was from a different day in the woods. There were lots of orioles, bluebirds, red-bellied woodpeckers, and a myriad of other birds in this area. I was wondering if it could be a female oriole...the tail doesn't seem long enough. Again, sorry for the quality, it was a long way away from me. I did unspeakable things to this photo to get it to even show any markings but the color is just not there. Thanks so much for any help! Ginni (the bird challenged)

Went to the hospital yesterday with contractions.. 26 weeks

I just got home again from the hospital a half an hour ago. I had been in contact with the Dr. all day because of severe tension headaches. Well they turned into a full blown migraine on the left side of my head, my vision turned blurry, bright sunlight was hurting my eyes and I felt nautious. I went into the clinic and Dr checked me out my blood pressure was 120/80 so wasn't the cause of the headache. Decided that since the tylenol 3 with codeine wasn't helping ( I am on that for yesterdays contractions) I needed a shot and they wanted me to have blood tests to see if there was anything wrong pregnancy wise. So DH left to take the girls to my sisters and bring Hayden home. He is a little monkey and is easy to take care of and entertains himself so will take it easy while they are gone and tomorrow until we have to go and get the girls. Stacie girlsingardens

It's good to hear that things are improving some. I wondered whether some splints might help, perhaps held in position by a tensor bandage wound around a stick to hold it to the leg. I guess that your feeling of being somewhat beleagured by problems the other day is now something of a distant memory? - And by that comment I don't mean to disparage them, just to suggest that sometimes when things appear a certain way to us, something may happen that shifts our perspective somewhat. Good wishes to you and yours for the coming days: I'm pleased that your young ones, and you, were having a good time the other day, before the fall. And may you have a pleasant, worthwhile Christmas. Your life is a mixture of joy and sadness, isn't it? I will keep you close in my heart, Sandie. I'm sorry your DH is struggling with so many issues and hope he stays comfortable and content as you and he deal with the medical issues.

Sandie, your post just makes everyone realize there's so much love and happiness in this life, and many things to be grateful for and celebrate. And in every life there's is sadness and struggles to deal with.

I'm very glad you had your vow renewal with all your loved ones with you. How precious. I will pray for the best possible outcome for your husband, and you stay strong as you face this "together".

I also will keep you in my prayers and yes I do know what you are going thru. Just went thru it with DH with cancer returning, a new chemo treatment, fluid on his lungs etc. Sad to say, he did pass away quickly.. We had just celebrated our 60th. Sending hugs and prayers for strength and miracles.

Thank you so much for your caring thoughts and prayers. We saw our Primary Care Doctor today. She was very helpful and said that she will stay on top of everything and if we have any questions to call her and she will research it. They called and told us that he will have two scans on Monday. It does help to know that I have all of you sending up prayers.
