Pot-filler on exterior wall?
Comments (7)You'd need to fur out the entire wall and install additional insulation. And then redo all of your window and door moldings on that wall to account for the extra thickness. Or do a "step back" where the cabinet wall joined the regular wall. Or just do a deck mount. Or skip it entirely. Most clients I've interviewed a year later after their projects have been complete don't really use it but a time or two. There are a couple that say they use it constantly, and for which the added expense and headaches would probably be worth it. Those are the ones who make their own stock, or simmer soups all day long, etc....See MoreDeck Mount Pot Filler Faucet

Comments (13)Well, I was actually going to mention that but forgot -- if you are getting a prep sink in the island as well, then just get a (tall) faucet which is made for filling pots as well. Personally I did not want a prep sink as I have a sink which is pretty centrally located and which has a second RO faucet if needed. Also, one benefit a pot-filler has over a normal faucet (which seem to be much slower nowadays) is the rate that the water comes out --- it is really fast with a pot-filler. So when you're cooking multiple pots of potatoes, it speeds it up quite a bit - although I don't necessarily think this is the main reason to get a pot-filler :). I have not had any problem emptying the pots in cases where I need to empty them - although I would want a fairly big sink to empty full pots in or I could envision a bit of a mess. Comments (8)I'm not trying to be smart, I really want to know if this is something that should become a part of our kitchen - can someone help me to understand why you need a pot filler? To me, the issue really isn't filling a pot and putting it on the burner, but more taking it off if it's full of hot water. I mean, even if I have a pot filler to fill it initially, ultimately I still need to move the heavy pot to the sink to drain out the water, right? Is there something I'm overlooking?...See MoreUser
