I'm not an expert, but the Monkey Princess, Bruvver and I always bake cookies. This is the recipe I usually use, although the kids like a different recipe that's "puffier". It's harder to frost the cookies, though, if they are puffy, and they don't hold their shape as well. These rise, so they don't hold indentations and such as well as a cookie with less leavening, but they have a nice flavor: Sour Cream Sugar Cookies 1 cup butter 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1 cup sour cream 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla 4 cups flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1. Combine baking soda and sour cream. 2. Cream butter and sugar. 3. Add eggs, one at a time, blending well after each. 4. Blend in vanilla. 5. Blend in sour cream and baking soda. 6. Combine baking powder and flour and add to sour cream mixture. 7. Refrigerate until easy to handle, usually at least an hour. 8. Roll out dough about 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes. 9. Bake at 325º for 8-10 minutes, or until light brown. I just use a powdered sugar type icing for decorating with the kids, but if I wanted something very precise I'd go with a royal icing so I could pipe an outline and then fill it in. Patti those sound great and we need easy now. another one something like that is take a tube sugar cookie and cut it kind of thin and then place one of those chocolate covered mint cookies on top that and top that with another slice of the sugar cookie. You can only put about six on a cookie sheet because they spread. yummy

Gen B, the fabricators knew we were changing ranges. Unfortunately, the delivery time for the range was much longer than expected. My question is... does it really matter though. Shouldn't the cut be straight either way. What if down the line, say in 5 years or so, you wished to change the range and they didn't make that particular model any longer? If they would have cut it straight it would've have solved a multitude of problems down the line. When the fabricator was here last tuesday he didn't want to say it, however, he alluded to the fact that the overhang on the old range provided a "safety net". I have a feeling that they chipped the side of the cut out when they were fabricating (because it's such a soft stone) and then decided they had to cut it like this to even it out. After he argued with me incessantly stating that "this is how they do it "standard procedure to cut the back smaller and the front larger", he then went on to say he followed the lines of the cabinet. I believe wholeheartedly that once he realized I wasn't buying the "this is how we always do it" story, he then decided to try a different angle (no pun intended) and blame the cabinet people. It was very upsetting. No apology, no accountability and no phone call back to discuss what they are willing to do.
