PVC or steel for kitchen under sink plumbing?

Black PVC or stainless steel for the the drain piping under a double kitchen sink with a garbage disposer on one side.

A plumber is suggesting some shiny chrome plated steel piping that looks nice, but I wonder if he is just trying to get extra money because it may look to him as if I have money to burn as he drove up to the house.

Is there any advantage to steel pipes for this purpose?

Is there any disadvantage besides costing more money (corrosion or other buildup inside the pipes, more difficult labor to install)?

I want minimal noise. Is one quieter than the other?

If there is not noticeable advantage to the stainless steel pipes, I'm not interested in paying extra for if there is no real usable benefit.
