Gagg Steam Oven - Under Counter Install?
Comments (5)The condense button floods the oven with cold water which disposes of some of the steam prior to opening the door. But, even with this process a lot of stem escapes out of the top of the oven when you open the door. I would not even consider mounting this oven low. My husband opens the door without condensing and the steam that escapes from the top is immense. I would hate to think about what that might do to a face....See Moregagg steam oven mounted under counter
Comments (4)We've had ours installed undercounter and in use for two years. We attached it to the sink drain; just made sure there was a steady incline down from the appliance. And--we're getting ready to do it again in a new kitchen. It is a bit more difficult to operate the controls since they slightly slant downward, as jakvis mentions, but fairly quickly you learn to set the controls without much need to look. This istallation set-up allowed us a nice drawer underneath to hold racks and pans. You MUST be careful about standing back to open it...the steam could burn your face or arms as it rises....See MoreWould under-counter mounting a Miele combi oven harm a countertop?
Comments (1)I don't think it would pose a problem to the counters, but I don't feel comfortable answering that. If you call Miele, you will get good advice, I think. The ventilation is for the electronics, NOT the steam. I retrofitted a combi steam in an existing cabinet, and I had to research that question. Basically, you need air circulation for electronics behind the oven....See MoreMiele Combi-Steam Under Counter in Work Area?
Comments (9)Thank you- I called Miele customer service this morning to ask about under counter installation and the rep said it was technically ok, but not recommended for two reasons... one being the handle sticking out, the other is that the digital display would be inconvenient at that height. I'm only 5 feet tall so it's not terrible for me, but I do see his point. I don't have another place to put the oven unless I were to add a cabinet for it, which is not ideal....See More- 3 years ago
