Show me your closet pantry doors - pic's please

I am looking for idea's for the door on my soon to be closet pantry. Also, looking to see what is the smallest size practical door as well. My pantry is about 4' wide and approx 2' deep.

Please post pics (both pen and closed if you have them) as well as pantry size and pantry door (width) dimensions of your closet style pantry.

Here's mine. It's a 24" door, although a narrower one might have worked. It's a special order from Home Depot, made by feather river.

We had double cafe style doors made for our modest sized pantry. They work nicely, because even open, you can easily move by the aisle between the pantry and island.

I have a narrow deep, deep closet. I step into it. And I have shallow stuff stored along the wall that I stand beside, plus deep-ish shelves along the short back wall, and partial hanging stuff in front of them. I have pics somewhere, but I'm not sure if it helps. But my vote would be to put deep-ish (18" or so) shelves across the back (so you can slide in a Rubbermaid-style storage bin, end in, like a drawer, and then put 4"-deep shelves on the side wall or walls. You'd be amazed when you can store in 4" of depth. Esp. if the shelves are relatively closely spaced. And leave a section of that side wall blank for hooks. Best is probably to leave the middle free of most stuff, so the bins on the shelves can be pulled out, and keep any side-wall shelves, etc., on the front half of the closet, JUST inside the door frame. For a quick-and-dirty trial of this, maybe get shoe-pocket organizers and hang them on the side walls. You can slip Windex, dust cloths, boxes of garbage bags, etc., in those pockets if you get one w/ generous-sized pockets.

Wow. Never expected this to be such a popular topic. After reading the Young House Love blog, I WAS motivated to do some reorganizing of my linen closet. I keep towels, bathroom cleaning supplies, a hamper, and cosmetics/health & beauty stuff in ours. Sheets are in another, smaller hall closet. First, I checked the expiration dates on cold medicines, etc., and found a lot of stuff expired. That was easy to pitch. THEN, I looked at old make up, etc. (Much harder to part with, even though I haven't used some of it in ages...) Also pitched half-used bottles of shampoo I tried but didn't like, etc. It felt VERY wasteful. I went to the Christmas Tree Shop and bought 8 square baskets - 2 of 4 different sizes. (They actually nested inside each other.) Nearly $80. (A-Hem? For a BATHROOM CLOSET? Hmmm.) Took them home and was thankful they didn't really work to hold the stuff the way I had hoped. Returned them. Since I used to be a Longaberger Basket consultant, I have an attic full of baskets. I decided that, in the meantime, I would just grab some of those baskets and use them to corral my cosmetics, etc. It works, but isn't as neat as I'd like. I also have two plastic 'drawers' that I use. One small one has 3 little drawers - I use it for eye makeup and lipsticks. The other is bigger (about 8x10x16 deep) that I have cold medicines and anything else I don't know where to put. I guess the mix of plastic and baskets, to me, make the whole effect a little sloppy. While at the Christmas Tree Shop, I noticed photo boxes for $1.99. They stack neatly on top of each other and have a little metal label spot on the side. I may go back for those. Would especially work for stuff like first aid items and other things not used daily. So...if I ever get the closet looking 'photo' ready, I'll post a picture... Parsuzi. PS I also was taught the 'right' way to fold fitted sheets so they fold flat, but mine never look that nice. I don't generally put them on a table to fold, though. That might be the key.

kulagal, We are doing a combination of fir and painted cabinets in the kitchen. As you can see, our panels aren't yet on the dishwashers, and the fir that will be our island top is piled on the island in the photo...Well, it's obvious there's still a lot to do, but here is what it looks like right now. I'm including a (bad) photo of one of the bathrooms, for a more straight-on shot of fir cabs, and a closeup with some of our hardware choices.

We're putting barn doors on the bathroom door to the right of it and on my closet door which is on another wall. This may be our forever home; we're in our 50s and no kids at home. I'll try to get a photo of his closet. He doesn't want the doors back up so I'm looking for another solution but they may go back up anyway. I have no decorating skills but I'm determined to learn damnit! Check out my favorite pantry door - Buehl's (sorry Buehl if I've beaten you to the punch in answering this post--I couldn't help myself!). Buehl gives the source information about half-way through the thread I have linked below.

Both Ccoombs1 & Buehl's pantry's are corner types. Mine is just on the flat wall and rectangular. Its 4' along the back wall and then approx 2' deep.

I think I will put shelves along one side of the 2' depth and then along the back wall (like an L). The L will be on the right side and the door will be shifted to the left side. So if there were 12" deep shelves at a min on the L side, I would have approx 30" or so of opening for a door or doors. If any shelf was deeper, then it would be smaller. If it was a single door it would swing right. Immediately to the left of the pantry is the doorway to the hallway. So there is a space issue here and therefore tying to see how small of a door I can put in and still be comfortable to get in and out as well as access the stuff on the right side that forms the L. Does this make sense?

A friend of mine has the same door on hers. Can't remember though if you can see the stuff on the shelves through it or not. This style is on my list if a single door would work.

Here is my pantry and doors. I have since added the elpha shelving on the other door also. And yes, it's a mess.

The pantry is the two doors on the left wall.

Mine has an L on the left side and it's hard to use the space in the corner. I don't think I would do an L again in a space this size. I measured and the depth of my pantry is 24" and the two doors (not including the door frames) are 48" wide. The shelving on the doors holds a lot of little stuff that would be hard to store on shelves.

Our closet is 36 wide, 2ft deep (about as the walls were not plumb). We got a special order door from HD "Hamilton" that's 24". We hired a contractor to build a frame and sheetrock.
