Do you shower/bathe mornings or evenings?

I like showering in the evening. We have a nice garden tub but I rarely use it, showering is so much easier for me. DH likes to shower mornings, so do our kids when they come to visit.

Always did it mornings even if I did the night before for ~ahem~ particular reasons. LOL

plantingman, ken is not correct about established woody plants never needing to be watered. In times of serious heat and/or drought, it is important to provide your plants with water as it becomes depleted in the soil. Period. The facts do support the fact that plants (even grass) need a lot less water than most people think. I have gone many months without giving anything but my containerized plants a drop of extra water, but never hesitate to get the hoses out when the plants are in trouble. I water the 'woodies' very, very rarely but always in times of duress. I don't have an irrigation system but use a heavy duty walking sprinkler when the plants begin to have a hard time. It puts down quite a bit of water slowly with little to no run-off. It is still important to select plants that are appropriate to one's climate and lifestyle. I'm not sure that I have any plant species that requires babying...even the annuals are pretty darned tough. We planted Wine and Roses in our back yard beds several years ago. Our summers have been very hot and dry...plus I have red clay soil and I've found that these plants are very drought tolerant once established. These plants really weren't babied much at first, either. BUT, that still doesn't mean that you NEVER have to water them. Just make sure that when you do water, that you do so long enough to get water deep into the soil where it can do some good for a long time. 15 minute irrigation cycles just don't cut it. Our watering is always done in the late afternoon/early evening. We set the hose up to where we want the walking lawn tractor to follow, turn on the water, and go back inside where it's cool, lol. "Scooter" (we had to name it) eventually makes it back to the house and we're done for the night. I've never had a disease problem on my plants or lawn by watering in the evening. I have a wide variety of annuals, perennials, woody shrubs and trees. Giving plants that are showing signs of powdery mildew a brief rinse is an excellent method of preventing a serious infection. Choosing plants that are PM resistant is even better. (Spraying water on other diseases is not a good idea, just PM). You have selected some plants that can be disease prone when the conditions are right for those diseases.

I think it should be a regulation to water only during the night/early morning hours. Actually many cities on water rationing already do just that. It irritates me to drive around and see sprinklers spewing in the heat of the day here in La. Most evaporates or is blown away by the wind. That is wasteful. Anything that can't take night watering in my yard gets tossed or just doesn't make it. I even water the St Augustine during the night and it is very disease prone and does just fine. I only water once a week though- mother nature waters at night and doesn't worry about fungus- been doing it for years too!. Watering during the day is just another example of our excessive consumption.

You won't need a curb, or much of one. with all that extra depth even if you make it flush. You have room to slope it properly. i would build a knee wall to just above doorknob height and put fixed glass above that and a swinging door in the rest of the opening. And offset the controls so they can be reached easily from outside.

Thanks for your response! I assume that our plans did (though I'm not sure) and our plans were certainly approved so I don't understand whats happening here at all. My contractor is equally perplexed and says he's never heard of this type of installation nor of this being required. The wall in question isn't a shared wall, the other side of it is the exterior of our unit. We also had a permit from the beginning. For some more color on why things have taken so long: a good 7-8 weeks passed with no work being done because our property management company and HOA kept asking for additional documentation in order to approve the addition of a skylight AFTER the HOA president initially told us that she consulted the management and that we were in the clear to include the skylight in our plans (which we did and we began demo. When it was time to make the hole in the ceiling we reached out because we had a question about something and THAT was when they suddenly had a problem with it). The president AND the property manager were flakey, they'd take days to weeks to respond to our calls/emails and after requesting one thing, they'd come back a week later requesting something else, multiple times. It was ridiculous. We've also probably lost a total of 4 weeks due to various materials we needed on back-order. A couple more weeks lost to poor scheduling of workers by our contractor. His father who lives abroad also passed away during this job so he went away for 3 weeks and practically nothing got done while he was gone. The rest was BS from the city like this. I can't even begin to tell you the shenanigans we've had to go through with the city...waiting a week or two for an inspector to come only to have the inspector ding us for something that wasn't mentioned the previous time, etc. Oh and I forgot to mention the work was only for our master bath/closet and the guest bath (we only have 2 bathrooms total) and we've been living in the unit this whole time so work on both concurrently wasn't an option. I always a hot shower in the evening right before bed. If I am cold, it takes me forever to fall asleep. I have Hypothyroidism and I'm sure that is what cause me to feel so cold even in the warmer months.

DH takes his in the morning.

If I have to be somewhere early I shower the evening before. Otherwise I shower before going out.

Depends upon what I'm doing.

If I'm cleaning or gardening, I generally get up, put on yesterday's clothes, and work until noon, then shower and put on clean clothes for the rest of the day.

If I'm going out, I shower first thing in the morning. Can't stand to put clean clothes on a dirty body (and even showering the night before doesn't cut it for me).

Of course, there are days when I may indulge in a second bath or shower. If it's really hot, I'll spend the afternoon in a tepid bath (we don't have AC), or if I do something to get sweaty later in the day, I always shower again.

I have to have a shower in the morning or I don't ever wake up. I do take lots of baths in the winter evenings as well.

I prefer to start my days fresh...

I can always wash off before bed...but if I get all snuggled in the covers I'll sweat...I'd rather sleep alone with my sweat than wear my sweat all day where others have to smell it.

Mornings...I don't like the idea of sleeping for 8 hours (and possibly sweating under the covers) and then going through the day for another 12 hours without showering. Get up, shower, and spend a comfortable work day, knowing I smell like a rose LOL.

Evening.

I see no point to going to bed with the 'grime of the day' stuck on me for another 8 or 9 hours.
I wash it all away and snooze in nice clean sheets....

Like Glenda and Luann, I just couldn't crawl into bed without a nice bubble bath daily - HATE showers! When I was married, if circumstances warranted it, I would take another bubble bath - oh, how I miss those days!

Evenings. I work out after dinner so it would be pretty nasty if I didn't. For years I was a morning workout/shower person and couldn't imagine it any other way but having a child changes things. When Nick was a baby and I was up all night I couldn't trust myself to make time to shower in the morning. Now, DH is gone before I get up in the morning so I can't see having to shower and get Nick and everything else ready on my own.

Morning baths for me ...a nice hot bath is a wonderful way to slowly wake up. Finish with a little shower to rinse off, and I'm good for the day.

I only shower if I've been working in the yard or doing something hot & sweaty and just need a quick cleaning.

I shower in the morning. If I work out in the yard, I'll do another one later in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll re-shower and do my hair if I'm going somewhere.

In the evening, I absolutely cannot sleep if I feel the least bit dirty or sticky. And I don't like to get wet in the AM.

Always in the evening. Never had enough ambition to do it in the morning when I get up & get ready for work. I'm not a morning person & it takes me a few hours to really "wake up". I may be at work physically but the mind hasn't clicked in yet. :-)

Morning showers on days I work. Unless I have somewhere to go on days off I shower later in the afternoon, because I walk on the treadmill and get sweaty.

Usually in the evening. We turn our heat down to 60 or below at night in winter and it's too darned cold in the morning. I use Oil of Olay liquid body wash with lavendar and it's supposed to relax you. I think it works!

I wish I could shower in the morning, but I have a really hard time getting out of bed in the morning, so I usually end up doing it in the evening.

Now that I have a hot tub, I shower in the evenings so I don't have those chemicals on my skin all nite.

When I was working, I showered and washed my hair every morning. Now I'm retired and I shower any time I feel like it. Don't want to be a smelly old lady!

I shower or take a bath in the evening.I have to get up too early to do it in the morning. Most mornings I can get away with just dampening my hair and a quick blow dry. There are some mornings however when I really need to soak my head and completely blow dry. I envy people who wake up without bedhead!
Also I spend a good deal of my day in and out of the warehouse so I feel I need a shower in the evening. I won't go to bed feeling dirty.

I prefer leisurely morning baths, but don't always have the time so take showers. But when it is hot and I have been doing lots of outside work and I am sweaty I will take another one in the evening right before bed.

It depends what I'm doing that day. In the summer I will usually bathe in the evening because of gardening and outdoor activities. In the winter, the morning works well. If I know I'm going to be around others, teaching or visiting, a shower with my smellies just prior is a good thing!

Showers wake me up and baths relax me,so it's morning showers and evening baths.That is unless I've been doing grungy gardening work etc...in that case a mid day shower comes in handy also.
