Call your vet and ask him/her.

When your dog ingests anything that could make him sick, you can make him vomit by giving him a few teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and walking him until he throws up. You should not do this if the dog has consumed something caustic. Based on the time of your post, it's too late now, and hopefully you have talked with your vet.

If he just ate a little bit, he may be okay.

And though its too late now to give him the peroxide that Cynthia suggested, its a good tip for pet owners to know in case your dog decides to eat something else that he shouldn't.

I've used the peroxide successfully when my dog ate a bolt. I called the vet and he said the bolt could slowly dissolve in the dog and over time the metal could cause problems with his kidney's or liver. I would highly recommend that if you ever need to use the peroxide in the future, that you and your dog are outside when you use it. It gets very messy.

You can also give an animal charcoal, I don't mean from the BBQ lol. At the feed store we sell it in tubes for animals that injest the wrong food. We also have it in doggie cookies, my dil gives the charcoal cookies to her dog who eats pollywogs from bull frogs in the pond.

That's a great tip about peroxide! The beagle portion of my dog loves to eat things that he's not supposed to (although I'm proud to say with my diligent training he's doing that less and less). Any guidelines on how much peroxide to give him? He's 51 lbs.

I just use approximately one tablespoon.

I did have one dog who needed a second dose...she just wouldn't give it up.
