What's missing from your post is information about the actual soil that you want to work. Soils range from "very sandy" to "hard clay". In between those extremes are "sandy loam", "pure loam", "loamy clay", "light clay" etc. etc. None of those are particularly perfect descriptions but they are an indicator of what you are facing. Almost any tiller will work all of these soils. The question is "how long will it take me?". You also do not mention the number of 300 ft rows that you need to cultivate. That too, plays into the decision. You don't say whether it is your intention to keep grassed areas between these rows. In the absence of this information, it's tough to give you advice. However, I can tell you this. Raw fields have tough grasses and weeds in them that are deep rooted. There are several ways to deal with them. You could wait until the field drys in spring and burn it off. You could use a product such as Round-Up to kill all the grasses and weeds in selected areas or totally. You could hire someone local that has a small tractor fitted with a 2 or 3 furrow plow to open the rows or the entire field. Even if you go this route, it would be wise to either burn the field first or to use a bush hog style of mower to chop the grass/weeds as low as possible. Plowing breaks the soil and rolls the broken field upside down but the long grass and weeds need time to rot. I sense that you wish to use this field next spring. If so, then get it plowed first and then have him/her disc the field level and drag harrow it. If you try to rototill a recently plowed field, you will have issues with the long grasses/weeds wrapping around the tiller tine assembly and that interferes with the efficiency of the tiller. Once you get this done the first year, then using a tiller in fall and the following spring will be so much easier. If your soil is heavy, you can add soil amendments in the fall when you do the fall tilling. Good soil is something that can be built over the years whether you have sandy soil or clay soil. Good soil is easy to work and a pull behind tiller is just fine for that purpose. Your Troy tiller should give you the answers you are looking for. Try a small 10 x 10 area and see how long it takes to do that 100 sq. ft. If it takes you two hours to get satisfactory results, then you can expect to spend the same amount of time with the pull behind tiller for every 100 sq. ft. Roto-tilling is a slow process compared to plowing/discing/harrowing when breaking a new field.

I was looking back at earlier threads, and seeing how we all anticipate demolition day, getting all excited, and then play waiting & glitch intervention games. It's nice to hear how things are moving along during some of the more tedious phases. When I read about GC or countertop install issues...do I ever get it now about the trauma involved in those challenges! We've had a few - wood floor near catastrophy - but the pain is long forgotten once resolved.

Congradulations on your wonderful find! We have had a camper for the past three years and we have gotten tons of use out of it. What type of print is on your cushions? Does it have curtains? Make sure when you choose fabric to go with something stain resistant and mold proof. I haven't done any decorating in ours, but I did have fun shopping at yard sales for all of the "stuff" we had to have. We keep ours stocked with dishes, pots and pans, blankets, towels, canned foods, silverware, dishwashing supplies (a washtub and drying rack), and toiletries (hotel soaps and shampoos that my Mom brings back from her trips). We also keep a couple of games for late night entertainment. I am ashamed to admit it, but I also have a tv and a microwave. Did I mention that ours is a pop-up camper and we have 4 kids (plus an extra one every now and then) to pack in as well. It's a great way to spend the summer! That is not photoshopped. They really do make campers that size and pop-up campers much smaller than that. They are actually made to be towed behind a motorcycle. I have a friend who has a Honda Goldwing with a popup camper trailer and he & his wife took a 7 month trip all over the USA with it. Go on the yahoo homepage or google and input the phrase "motorcycle camper" and search for illustrations, You will be amazed at how elaborate some of them are. My friends popup has a full size bed, and the canvas extend our enough that they have a seating area in front of the bunk, which is also used as a changing room, and on the side it has a pull out drawer with a propane stove and storage for food and cooking equipment plus a 12gal water tank.
