My old looking hands

My hands are really bugging me. They look older and more wrinkled than they should for my age. Years of having them in water, while washing up from cake decorating, I think. I moisturize all the time, and always did. Does anybody have any suggestions that I can use to make them look better?

Scrub with a mixture of lemon juice and sugar,rinse well, then apply a good hand cream. The sugar/lemon mixture exfoliates,bleaches and the lemon oil is also a bit moisturizing. at least that's what they use at the place where I get manicures.

Welcome to the forum. You have been reading some very old posts. Bestlawn has been missing from the forum for about five years. In any case, we miss her and I will let her know that the heavens parted and you have seen the light. Please name the town you live in in SoCal. I grew up in Riverside, went to school in Pomona, worked in Downey and Hawthorne, and had relatives in Los Angeles (the real Los Angeles), Stanton, Palm Desert, and Indio. Sometimes I can help with details that most people would not be aware of. I would wait a few weeks for the soil to dry out before making judgements about the soil. One thing you might do is to apply a thin layer of compost. Let's see, if you have 400 square feet then 1/2 yard of compost is all you need. Normally I would say that mowing the grass that short might result in seeing the yellowish blades, but that grass is a dwarf variety and should not show yellow. How do you know you had a grub problem and which insecticide did you use?

My Mom is moving in 40 days and I have been elected to stage her home for sale afterwards since I had such good luck selling mine in SoFla in '07. Both the new and the old homes are roughly in the same town as is my own, so moving/borrowing pieces is easy. Every single square inch of the house she is selling is in excellent condition- those are our pros. The cons are that this will not be the optimum time to offer a house for sale and the resistance I get from her "not liking" how I am decorating a home that her mother built decades ago. She understands in her head but her heart hurts a bit when she hears that I will be replacing some old light fixtures that her mother loved and neutralizing the "every shade of pink and orange known to man" color scheme that permeates the home. She would not move at all except she is coming on eighty years of age and is in a secluded area a bit too far from me- it takes me too long to get to her and in winter she is near inaccessible. The new house is literally seven houses away from me in a more populated area, so we know it is the right thing for her to do. Just that the process is difficult for her emotionally- leaving an old family home. Best of luck to all of us trying to sell this fall.

I did call them after posting this yesterday.. They said it looked pretty comparable to their conditions of their sod, and was likely related to too much water we've been having in the area. I didn't apply fertilizer, and they've recommended not to now until cooler weather...

You've tried mightily. Tme to call in the pros. Call local professional tile cleaners. They have equipment and chemicals that homeowners can't duplicate, and their expertise of course. Local real estate agents may have referrals.

My dermatologist says to be sure to apply sunscreen to the back of your hands. One of my cousins told me I have our grandma's hands with the big veins. I could have slapped her but it is true.

Get a manicure once a month and really helps me!

Try some almond oil instead of the hand cream/lotion.

My mom just had a laser treatment on her hands. It was expensive (about $800), but the improvement is amazing. Her hands look 30 years younger. You can ask your dermatologist about it.

I second the almond oil. After a recent severe bout with eczema, I went to see my GP rather than a dermatologist. I was tired of being prescribed a gazillion things that didn't work. My doctor told me about the benefits of almond oil. She's Indian and said that Indian women have used almond oil for centuries, on both the skin and hair. I have shared this tip with so many people. The fact that my skin hasn't felt this good in years is proof enough. It really is wonderful.

My Grandmother put Ponds Creme on her hands, then gloves before she went to bed. She had beautiful hands.

She always used rubber gloves while washing dishes and gloves for gardning.

I recently started to drink over 64 ounces of water each day. I'm 54 and can't believe what a difference it's made. The skin on my face feels incredibly soft now and my hands (along with using lotions) look better.

I decided to try this after remembering how soft my skin felt when I was hospitalized a couple years ago. They kept me hooked up to an IV with fluids the whole time and what a world of difference it made to my skin.
