BM Grey Mirage, BM Rosemary Sprig or BM October Mist?

Looks like gray mirage to me. I just finished painting it about an hour ago. Its very pretty.

Thank you for the colors. I have Rosemary sprig in another room and I dont think that's it. I don't have gray mirage but looked it up on line and in some rooms and it seems lighter than this color. Could be georgian green but not sure. I am trying to determine if the wall color is yellow based or maybe has some blue. I'm not good with this sort of thing. But I do love the color in this room and would love to find out what it is.

Looks like a yellow based green in the pic, something along the lines of a Celery. Love it though, especially next to all that white.

That could easily pass for EK's Edgewood Green. Which I have in my own family room/kitchen.

That really makes the decision for me. Its time to buy paint. Speaking of that, funcolors, should I have Ellen formulate a special primer to go under my current paint which is a deep clay color? Thank you.

Not in my opinion. I think about primer as it relates to color specifically like this:

Primer's function isn't about the old color.

Primer's function is all about the new color.

If your new color has a transparent viscosity and requires the boost of a tinted primer to achieve proper opacity, then you need to use a primer.

If your new color is robustly opaque, and you buy a top tier grade, then it will achieve proper opacity over any color in two to three full coats.

Primer as it relates to the condition of the substrate is a different conversation. Substrate means the wall surface. An example would be if you stripped wallpaper and have residual glue to deal with, then you'd need to prime with GARDZ. Or, if you have chipping flaking paint, then you'd need to prime with Peel-Bond. Or, if you're painting a laminate IKEA bookshelf then you'd need a bonding primer. Etc.

An existing dark wall color does not mean you need to prime.

Last note about primer is that it does not go on uniform and even. Primer dries to a splotchy final finish. Which loops all this together and makes sense. It's splotchy because it's *more* about surface prep, not necessarily just about color prep.

You know, I meant to say " should I use primer over my old color" instead of under. Well, I guess I'm still not sure whether I need one or not if I'm using the Edgewood Green over the clay color. In the past when Ive had rooms painted, the painter we use has gotten a tinted primer to go under our paint, particularly covering a deeper color. So what I'm actually wondering is since it's a full spectrum paint, do I need a tinted full spectrum primer or just a regular primer from the paint store tinted in the Edgewood Green color?

I have Georgian green in my great room....I love it! It does have more yellow than blue in it....almost apple green, but not as vibrant.

funcolors- now that I have reread your post, am I understanding that one of my options is to maybe use 3 coats of the paint itself rather than prime and then use 2 coats of the paint itself. I know that Ellen suggests using 2 coats of the color even if it covers in one coat.

Yes, exactly. Just paint. Two coats of Edgewood will do it. Seriously doubt you'll need three.
