(Butler's) pantry - trying to visualize

Hi everyone,

I have a bit of space in my kitchen nook - recessed - where the builder offered as an upgrade, a full pantry. I was thinking of installing my own version of a butler's pantry, with shallow base cabinets (12 inches deep) and a countertop. How does it work if I put uppers there too? Would the countertop be useable or would I be pressing my face into an upper cabinet? I was thinking that that I could set up a coffee station there, with my lovely kettle and new mugs. Maybe a plate rack (do people who have them, like them?). And maybe some baskets for potatoes and onions (and crayons, markers and kids' stuff!)

Here's a photos of my nook. I've moved the table to length wise. The wallpapered part is recessed. Then there is a knee wall and then my kitchen cabinets start.

And a link to the floor plan of my house (a mirror version), and the plan shows 'optional pantry).

Here is a link that might be useful: Floor plan
