Just a little 'oomph'...

In cooking with several different cooks in the church kitchen for various things I have discovered we all seem to have a pet thing to add to a sauce or soup or something that needs a little something.

My first go to is Worchestershire sauce, then I will squeeze half a lemon into it....

Other things get the "add some grated Parmesan cheese" treatment...most likely things like salad dressing, casserole sauces and toppings.

I add cream cheese to gravy, egg mixes for omelettes and fritattas and also put some into creamed soups.

Harriet is in love with celery salt....for her it's like my Worcheshire! and she adds water chesnuts to lots of casseroles and veggie salads. Oh yes and buttered crumbs....she grates bread and fries it in butter with celery salt and garlic powder and tops all sorts of dishes.

Marie likes more salt....and Beau Monde seasoning, and Joan never varies from a recipe.

Do you have a favorite thing to add when something just seems to be lacking something?
