whinning noise in hot water pipe

My second bathroom has a stand up shower only. When I use the hot water, there is a very high pitch whinning sound from the pipes. It diminishes in intensity when I turn ON the cold water to balance the temperature. My question is, what causes the high pitch whinning sound. It only occurs with this shower. None of the other hot water faucets make this noise. All pipes are copper and the house is 36 years old. I have a Water Softner and filters in the line for sediment and various minerials. This shower is the most furthest from the water heater, if that means anything. What should I look for? Thanks.
