If you can still pour it, go for it.
Molasses never spoils....too sour to mold and too sweet to harbor bacteria.

Might be too late, but molasses is like honey. Even when it turns to sugar it's still good. Try popping it in the microwave if need be.

Use it. I've got homemade sorghum that's old and still great. If no mold and still pours like linda said go for it.

I agree, if it isn't moldy, it's fine, especially since it was all sealed up.

Use it without worries and enjoy the cookies.

We are planting some sorghum this year mike, one variety for seeds one for syrup. Do you process it yourself?

Heck I keep it opened for longer than that...no mold ...go for it!

I have a batch of Sorghum caramel corn in the oven right now for a snack tonight.

I buy my sorghum syrup from a vet in KY who makes it as a hobby but I'm more than happy to buy it from my CF friends - just let me know when y'all have a batch to sell.

If your syrup sugars, just take the lid off and heat in the microwave on 30 sec bursts till it's all liquid again.

Sugar is a great antibacterial. If you treat a wound with honey it heals faster.

But don't give honey to babies under a year old. I KNOW that; I just can't remember why LOL

It's because a bacteria in the honey could potentially cause infant botulism. :(

So, does this mean I can keep opened molasses in the pantry? I've always put it in the fridge after opening.

susy, I've never refrigerated molasses, whether it is sorghum or otherwise. I usually buy the darkest stuff available for baking and it sits in my pantry for a long, long time without discernible ill effects.

Molasses is not as chemically simple as table sugar and like other syrups it will eventually break down, become bitter and even mold.

Since your container is unopened and there is no visible growth it is probably ok. You might want to give it a taste before using it in a recipe to make sure it is not bitter.
