This happened to me a few months ago too. The banks fraud dept noticed first and put a hold on my account. I tried to get gas and my card was declined and I knew I had $1000.00 in there. Turns out the creeps spent over $800.00 at BevMo (it's a store that sells liquor) in Fresno. I live in Los Angeles and had my card in my posession. The day they used it, I had too so there's no way I could be in two places at once. The bank gave me all of my money back after 3 weeks or so but I was livid. The bank said the WORST place to use your debit card was at the pumps at the gas station. The creeps put card readers in the slot, leave it for a couple of hours and they collect all of the info on the reader. They drive through later and remove the reader.....they now have your info. I still use my card to get gas but I go inside to the clerk to pay. Scary stuff! I hope you get yours straighted out Vicky....it's so violating. P

I have read all of them -- in order (I'm strange like that). I love them, and am anxiously awaiting the new book. I'll probably get it for Mother's Day or my birthday from DD#1, as she started me on the series. I love reading them. I wish I subscribed to HBO so I could watch it, but I'll get them from Netflix when they come out on DVD. Such enjoyable reading. You could probably finish them in 2 or 3 days or less. However, my husband always wants to eat dinner every night and have clean clothes, so I can't just sit and finish one of the books in one sitting.

Mary52 - That's one positive about these books, that they have wide appeal. How fortunate for your mother that she is still able to enjoy reading at age 84. Reading helps to keep the brain young too! My mother sadly developed dementia late in life so was not able to read into her old age. I find these books so enjoyable that I read each new one as it is published. I have also read parts of McCall Smith's other series, but my favorites are the "detective agency" books. Have you read any of his other books?
