I use the Magic Puzzles app on my android tablet and love it. Just yesterday I was walking through the jigsaw puzzles in a local store and thought about how I'll probably never put very many physical puzzles together anymore because I love my app so much. Carol, like yours, mine will allow you to make puzzles of your own pictures. On mine, the pieces snap together, but not to the place they will stay. You have to solve that. It is a free app, but you can buy sets of puzzles. You don't need to though, as you can purchase them with points earned by putting puzzles together. The reason I chose this particular program was because of the few accesses that they required.

shaddy101. Believe me, trading puzzles by mail can be expensive. I am a major consumer of jigsaw puzzles and occasionally mail some to a very money strapped friend in another state. The cost to send just 3 or 4 500 piecers can be $10 or more. Add the logistics of packing them and getting them out to be mailed, well it is a chore for this handicapped puzzle lover.You have been given some good suggestions here. Just last week, Walmart had a decent selection of 500 piece puzzles for $1. Myself and 5 friends pass puzzles around among us till all have done them, then give them to the local VA hospital or Goodwill store. If there is a missing piece, the picture on the box is noted with the area of that missing piece clearly circled. Good luck in your hunt.

Yes! Sueb I agree. I'm not such a gift giver but when I see something that would be just so right- a gift is in order! I actually emailed them to ask about ages ... they were responsive but pretty much said pieces are small and not for little kids, which I recognized. I keep thinking that one of my grands would probably love this but I might wait a year or so. I just really think this is such a great product. (not that I've gotten it. yet)

My aunt was big into jigsaw puzzles for a number of years. After she finished them, she would put a preservative over the surface, and then we would go looking for used picture frames at the Goodwill or other thrift stores, then to the glass company in town to have them put the "picture" in the frame with plexiglass. Her grandsons (or whomever she could corral at the moment) would hang them in her home on her gallery wall in the den or various other walls in the house. I told her when she's gone, her family is going to have so much fun filling all those nail holes in the drywall before painting. ha She finally got to the point where she no longer could finish a puzzle, and her daughter-in-law completed the last one for her last year. It was a round one and finding a frame was a big scavenger hunt. Somebody finally found a large square one that would do. "No more puzzles!" she would remind all of us. I prefer crossword puzzles. I picked up the habit nine years ago from my Mom who did them, and especially during her chemo sessions and since I just sat there she gave me a book once and that was it. I was hooked. Now I subscribe to The Herald Tribune Crosswords Only books, the challenging ones. The puzzles with 140 and over clues in the back are my favorites. I can spend an hour in the afternoon with coffee or tea. Then in bed at night, I do a smaller puzzle toward the front. It clears my mind and seems to make falling asleep easier..
