I've seen a LOT of hyperT cats and I can remember exactly 1 that was under 10 years old at time of initial diagnosis. And this was a 1.5 year old siamese that was a total sicky-poo from day 1 and he had repeated elevated T4 plus tc-99 scans to confirm hyperT as nobody in his/her right mind would believe hyperT in a 1.5 year old cat. I wouldn't even TEST for it in a 7 year old cat unless I was completely at a loss for cause of symptoms and had run every other blessed test in the book. And even then, I would probably insist on tc-99 scan to double confirm, or even triple because I'd probably run the T4 at least twice- once as diagnosis and second time while on tapazole with a resolution of clinical signs to confirm normal T4. So I *have* to ask how were the previous 2 diagnoses made? A second possibility is that you cat has a very rare thyroid carcinoma. Most thyroid tumors in cats are adenomas, which are benign and respond extremely well to usual doses of I-131. However I remember a cat who we initially treated at age 20, and T4 did not return to normal at 30 day recheck. We repeated treatment and T4 went down but was still not normal. Finally we did a biopsy of the thyroid and it was carcinoma not adenoma and we treated her a 3rd time at a MUCH higher dose which was curative at 1 year post treatment. I agree with the others- get a diagnosis first. I can think of about a million different reasons for a cat to have weight loss and nervousness, and hyperT is not amongst the first 999,999 at age 7 or even at age 9. I truly wonder about those diagnoses and how they were done. At age 11 I can believe hyperT but unless he has a thyroid carcinoma I can't make this case make sense. We treated on average 4 cats per week with I-131 when I was a tech, which I did for 9 years. I have a very good memory for things out of the ordinary and am positive that I would have remembered treating a 7 year old cat, and retreating at 9 years if it had happened. It just didn't though. I am sure that the youngest we saw was that siamese and after that I think the youngest was 11 at first diagnosis. The only confirmed carcinoma was in that 20 year old cat. I can think of a couple of repeat I-131 treatments but they were all in older cats (12+ years) who failed to respond at the 30 day recheck. I even remember a cat who had both thyroid glands removed by the referring DVM and owner was thinking about suing for malpractice because cat was STILL hyperT. But we did a tc-99 scan which proved there was hyperT thyroid tissue in thoracic cavity and we did the treatment and he was fine for 3 years at least. I know you are totally distraught over your poor cat. Has he ever had diarrhea or vomiting, or weight loss despite an increased appetite? These are what I would consider hallmarks of hyperT4, not just weight loss (unless appetite was increased as well) and nervousness. I mean, cats are nervous species and if not eating of course weight loss ensues but inappetence is NOT a sign of hyperT4. Please get a diagnosis on your kitty. I hope you can get records of previous treatment including full labs and diagnostic T4 along with post-treatment T4. We usually got T4 level at 30 days, 60 days, and 1 year post-treatment and only with normal t4 for all 3 rechecks did we call the treatment a success. We were 98% successful, and we treated a LOT of cats.

Nicely tell her next time she has something to say that you would prefer to gain your advice from a professional and any futher comments can be forward to your attorney, And yes what she is doing is harassment,our ex-neighbors complained to our animal control officer that our dogs were left out all the time and were mean and that they kept trying to get under the fence. First thing is we are so over protective of our dogs that when they go out we go out with them. They were the most friendliest and loving dogs ,they loved people (except for DH one friend LOL).The animal controll officer had observed our house for awhile and after a few days came to do a home check.He was totally amazed that we even had dogs ,he said our yard was not the normal neighbor yard.There was no droppings left around and the yard was kept up very nice,he played with the dogs and said my neighbor was out of her mind.He had to go into her yard and check the fence to make sure that we had it supported enough and than he called the code enforcement officer out to issue my neighbor some fines for her trash cans not having lids and for all the trash in her yard.He also told us next time she harassed us to document it and take the documents to an attorney and file a harassment charge agianst her.

We have 3 cats, one male and two females. I feed them in different places, although at the same time and the same quantity. My male does like to nose in on his sibling's dish when he's done with his own (total type A eater, lol), so I have to watch for him; otherwise, it works out fairly well. We feed our crew at 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. When we feed dry, we feed 1/3 cup for each feline of Royal Canin Indoor. When we feed wet, we typically divide the 5.5 oz can (we like Felidae) into 3 portions and add a bit of dry kibble to their dish. Fresh water all the time in three different locations (sometimes if my male doesn't seem to be drinking enough, I splash in some clam juice to pique his interest). Their weights are quite stable and the vet says they are in the "ideal" category. My male orange & white is 12.25 lbs, his sibling is 10.25 lbs and my torbie female is 11.25 lbs. I can identify with your situation on several levels. I currently have fourteen feline kids. Back in 1996, we had six cats when we knocked down our old house, moved into a different house for a month during the rebuild, then moved back into the new house, taking two additional cats with us. Five of the cats were siblings - three from one litter and two from another. The mothers of the litters were sisters. One of the mothers died, so the remaining mother raised all five kittens. The litter of three were all sisters, and the litter of two were brothers. One of the brothers, Noddy, grew to be our 25 1/2 lb Lion King. The other brother, Capri (who disappeared about 10 yrs ago), was a very lean 16 lbs and was bullied horribly by Noddy once they reached adulthood. Noddy, however, has almost always been very tolerant and sweet with his female cousins. There have been moments, though, when Noddy, for whatever reason, gets very angry at one of his cousins and goes after her. When that occurs, I don't hesitate to use a very stern voice to make him stop. If that doesn't work, he gets put into a timeout away from the other cats for 30 mins until he regains his senses and sweet self. I haven't been faced with your exact problem, though. Well, maybe I have. It's possible that the playful relationship that Noddy and his brother, Capri, had when they were kittens evolved into the bully/victim relationship that made Capri's life miserable as an adult because Cappy wasn't able or willing to play as roughly as Noddy when they got older. Once a cat assumes the victim role, as your female is doing now, it's almost an irresistible temptation for other cats to assume the bully role. That's why it's important for you to try to nip this behavior in the bud before your male decides to escalate his overbearing play into actual bullying. Getting a third cat is NOT the answer. A third cat will only escalate your female's anxiety and fear response, setting her up to be a victim to the new cat, as well. You'd be better off getting a cat-friendly dog rather than another cat, though I wouldn't recommend that, either, under these circumstances. Instead, let your male cat know that pushy play is no longer allowable with his sister by putting him into timeouts in a separate room whenever he starts bothering her. With the female, let her know that unwarranted, hissy/growly behavior is unacceptable by clapping your hands sharply in her direction whenever she starts complaining ... unless, of course, her complaints are justified by the pushy behavior of her brother, in which case you should grab him and put him into an immediate timeout. You always have to make sure you are reprimanding the right perpetrator. Don't worry about how your boy will react to these new strategies. I have a houseful of timid cats, several of whom trust only me. Cats are very intelligent creatures. They know the difference between an angry moment and an angry person. If a spat breaks out in my house (a frequent occurrence with 14 cats), a sharp, "HEY!!!" from me will usually send the perpetrator (and any other cat who was considering doing something naughty at that exact moment) scurrying, while the innocents will hold their ground and look around to see who's in trouble. LOL! Within moments, everybody returns to normal. In fact, the perpetrators often seek me out to offer a personal apology for their bad behavior and make sure that Mommy isn't holding a grudge. There are other possible explanations for your female's behavior. It may be displaced aggression - aggression caused by factors other than her brother but expressed as anger toward or fear of her brother. This happens fairly often when an indoor cat sees a feline (or non-feline) intruder in her yard through a window. The indoor cat can't do anything about the outside intruder, so she takes out her anger and anxiety on her housemate, instead. See if you can identify any potential sources of stress for your female that are unrelated to your male cat. The more stressors you can eliminate, the more likely you'll be able to resolve this problem. Hidden illness can also be expressed as anxiety, anger, and/or aggression. You might want to consider taking your girl in for a thorough vet exam just to make sure she's healthy. A full blood panel should identify most major health concerns. If all else fails, you might also discuss the possibility of trying an anti-anxiety med with your vet. I dislike the idea of drugging any animal, but I also know that there are cases in which certain meds can be extremely helpful. Good luck.
