I finished Sue Grafton's Q Is For Quarry.

I read Birthright by Nora Roberts and I'm now reading Dream Makers by NR (thanks Patti!)

just about to finish "Blood Mary" by JA Konrath...excellent set of murder mystery about a Chicago Cop named Jack Daniels...with some comedy thrown in...

next is some "Alex Cross" stories by James Patterson

before that was "Honor Thyself" by Danielle Steel...hers are always a great read with a happy ending...

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is probably one book that I read before seeing the movie - and I still enjoyed the movie!!! Unusual, and I have been to Savannah since, and was fascinated by the city!! I don't read nearly enough anymore - the upcoming hospital stay will change that. I love English mysteries - PD James, Deighton, Dick Francis - pure escapism. I am slogging my way through "And No Birds Sang", WWII, Farley Mowat - I love his writing, and it is the stories of the Allies landing in Sicily, and the battles up to Rome. My Dad was there, so I need to put it down often. If you are interested in the sea, Mowat's "Grey Seas Under" is a very moving biography of a tug boat. Yes, a tug boat, and you will come to care for that boat like a friend, or favoured pet!! Nancy. - oh yes, and I loved the mini-series a Year in Provence - how could you not love something with John Thaw in it!!!

In case anyone missed the PBS special The Botany of Desire which premiered Wednesday, October 28, 2009, you can still watch the entire program online. It's incredible. Book turned documentary. My Sis-in-law sent me some books to read while I'm recuperating from foot surgery so I just finished reading: Peace like a River by Leif Enger...very good book with a Dad that has amazing faith and miracles seem to be answered through him. Like Jodi,I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hard to get through the first few "set up" pages and it's set in Sweden so the names and currency system are different but a very good, although disturbing book. It draws you in through the mystery part of it but the events that happen to the girl are heartwrenching. And how she retaliates paints a mental image that is hard to get out of your mind. I must say, I'm looking forward to reading his next book "The Girl who Played with Fire" and as soon as I can hobble to the library, I'll get it. And then, for a fun book, she sent me the first in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, One for the Money. How have I gone this long and not read any of this series? Definitely a fun, easy read so I'll be getting Two, Three, etc. soon. I love to read, just usually don't make the time. Having to sit and keep my foot elevated is a perfect excuse. I enjoy all the recommendations from other KTers. I'm making my library list right now and adding Glass Castles among others.

I finished The Help a couple of weeks ago for our April book club meeting and last week read The Glass Castle which is our May book club selection. I've also read Half Broke Horses which is the second novel of the author of The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls. Of the two books, I enjoyed Half Broke Horses more. I hated that it ended. Another book that I read in between and is non-fiction was Escape (I can't remember the authors name) but it's a very haunting and upsetting true story to me but I won't get into the main subject here for fear of dicing someone else's culture or life. Aunt Audrey, I've read all of Anne George's books and throughly enjoyed each one. They're very entertaining and great light reading. She was from Birmingham and sadly she passed away a few years ago during heart surgery. Many of the places that she mentioned in her books, I recognized, so I felt a real connection.

Just finished Full Speed by Janet Evanovich and Charlotte Huges. Starting the next one Full Tilt. I'm enjoying them, light reading.

As usual, I'm reading three or four at the same time; one is still "Main Sreet" which I put aside for a moment, and one is an Elizabeth George mystery whose title I can't recall, and I don't want to run upstairs to check it out! The third is a Pat McManus book, and I always get such a chortle out of them. They are all library sale books. I just finished "Dewey", which was a Christmas gift. They are all good, but the Elizabeth George has so much angst in it, and I'm not reading it in order, so I know they will straighten all their personal lives out eventually! I have a gift certificate to our book store, so think I have to check to see if they have a Nevada Barr I haven' read yet.

I read "The Hour I First Believed" by Wally Lamb. I might give it 2.5 stars. It was so convoluted I doubt I'd recommend it. Today I finished "Shadow Walker" by Robert B. Parker and I would highly recommend it as I would any of his books.

I haven't picked up a book in a couple of weeks, but I always have an audio book going in the car. This time it's another of JD Robb's ". . . in Death" series of mysteries. I'm in love with Roark. Is this what happens to romance readers? I want him to say "Darlin' Suze" instead of "Darlin' Eve." LOL

Vannie,I am a big fan of Robert B. Parker, but I have looked at three book locations and do not find a book written by him with that title. Are you sure you have the right title or right author?

I think I just answered my own question. I went to his website and found the listingof his books. It probably is Walking Shadow, a 1996 book. I haven't read that one, so will have to look for it.

Am about finished with Nora Robert's 'Homeport' at my shop and on book 9 of the Wagons West series here at the house. I usually have two books going at once, one at my shop and one here at the house.

I'll have to see what Robert Parker books I have, I have never read any by him but found a bunch at a thrift store the other day and just grabbed up the whole pile.

AAAhhh Liz.
Remember when Cane was on tv a couple years ago, then the writer's strike started? Some shows were brought back, but many were cancelled.

I LOVED Cane, and fell in love with Jimmy Smits in it. He was so sexy I thought, rough around the edges sexy and ruggedly handsome.

I'm almost finished reading "House of Hate" by Percy James.
The book is based upon the destructive hate a family can turn upon it's self.
Ficton,loosely based on fact,set in the 40's in a small Newfoundland mill town.
Percy Janes is a Newfoundland author.
A very good read!

Read "The Amber Photograph" by Penelope J. Stokes last week and finished "the novelist" by Angela Hunt last night. Liked both of them but "the novelist" was the best of the two. I have "I Heard That Song Before" by Mary Higgins Clark ready to start, maybe today. As soon as the weather gets warm my book reading stops, I have to many flowers.
