The builder built the cornices. He used a flat piece and the added the crown and the little strip on the bottom. If it's not pouring rain, I'm going out there today and can take some close up pics and post tonight. I think there are pieces of what he used in the garage. I'll get pics of those too.

I'm a frequent visitor/lurker in kitchens and building a home, as we are just starting the homebuilding process. I'm looking for pictures of simple baseboard, door, and window trim to show trim carpenters for bids. We'll have 12' ceilings downstairs,so we can support some fairly sizeable trim, and we plan to use white painted mdf. The kitchen cabs we've chosen are white shaker style, and the plan is very open, so I want to continue the style throughout. Does anyone have any photos or suggestions of where I can get examples to show these guys?

Personally...I have to tell you, then when I see a window in the middle of a run, I do like to see that decorative board tie them together, so I'd take this as a design yea verses nea :) (Although I am known as the soffit police girl around my place). My plumbers kept telling me I was going to have a one or two inch soffit that had to run the legnth of the kitchen, including the window area, and I said "Nope" get rid of it...somehow they did (perhaps they just cut the pipes) :oP But it's gone. The way your's is though in my mind sounds ok to me. I think the trim idea you've found is a great option :)

We used beadboard on our cabinet ends and the back of our peninsula. We also used beadboard for our backsplash which gives it some carry through.
