Not familiar with it but since it's different from what your dog has been eating it would be good for a feeding trial. Just remember to feed her nothing else, not even treats for 4-6 weeks. If it is a food sensitivity then something in the treats could be affecting her too. If itching tho is the only thing you see then the heat in the house could be drying her skin out. Lisa

Judydel- YES, you should be worried if he/she is allowed to have any split ball - especially when not in your immediate sight! My dad's most beloved canine split open a tennis ball one time and swallowed half of it. He was excited to see my dad packing for hunting, we guess, because he'd never done anything like it before. Anyway, my dad left with the dogs for hunting and Ben (the dog) had a bowel obstruction from the 1/2 ball. The country vet that operated on him wasn't able to save him. As a child, it was the first time I had ever seen my dad really cry when he carried Ben out of the back of the truck at home. Dogs really shouldn't be allowed to have tennis balls, or any other type of hollow or foam ball when not actively playing/fetching with a human. They can choke on them, get ill from ingesting or die from an obstruction. Off my soapbox now....

Both of mine have had it, neither was symptomatic, Bailey we treated w/ antibiotics and Molly my vet said she had antibodies but no active infection so it's likely her body took care of it. We have so many ticks here, it pretty much doesn't matter what we do to prevent, there's almost no way to avoid lyme exposure when the dogs go outside/hike. General practice vets actually get almost no education about nutrition/dog food options in veterinary school. And a lot of info out there is provided by dog food companies. A standard vet's advice on nutrition should be taken with a grain of salt, IMO (although it may be a controversial one). Unless you get lucky to get a vet that is specifically trained in nutrition or has it as an area of interest and has done independent research, you are not likely to get the best advice on food and should do your own research about what you feed your dogs. One of our vets was pretty opposed to the raw diet we were feeding when we first went to him. After doing a full blood panel, and seeing how incredibly healthy our dogs have been up to an old age, minds were changed. Our regular vet who we see often is fully in support of our feeding plan and has credited nutrition (plus the extremely specialized heart-surgery of course) with Molly's longevity and good health.
