Puzzle with lots of pieces missing....it was brand new.

I bought this puzzle for Denny for Christmas...

When we opened it, all the pieces were contained inside a plastic bag. We had to cut it open to get pieces out.

First thing we do is the edge pieces...two were missing.

We thought we'd find them while we were working on it.

But there are aprox. 25 pieces missing, all in one place.

Don't you think that is strange?

If it were a used puzzle I could see pieces missing but not all in one place.

Looks to me like the machine runs the cardboard with the picture on it through, cuts it then it is boxed...I'm betting that whole section fell out and on one noticed it was gone until several boxes went by. By then they probably just let it go.

I'm going to email them and send them the picture. I doubt if it will do any good. But they need to check their quality control.

That is really odd, but I think you've come up with the likely scenario. What a neat (and difficult) puzzle it appears to be. Looks like a lot of pieces! It will be interesting to see what sort of response you get from them.

Sarah: Yikes! When I linked that Kichler light it was on sale for $67. Now it's $134. I wouldn't pay that much. If you're interested, keep an eye on ebay. I really like the first sconce you posted but, again, too expensive. Keep looking. You'll find the right thing. I beg you not to give in to the Lowe's syndrome. Lighting is one place where you can get creative and separate yourself from the hordes, so to speak. Though Lowes and HD have good choices, I hate having lights like everyone else's. I think this fixture might be too small for your (lovely) Morton Building. Also, I'm not crazy about putting nickel fixtures outside. I think oiled bronze would look better.

I emailed Weight Watchers a while back complimenting them on their new Smart Ones frozen dinners. They replied back and sent me coupons. I just did the same with Lean Cuisine on their new flat bread dinners and they replied back and thanked me for taking the time but didn't send any coupons. I emailed Kohls right after the first of the year telling them that when they first opened the store near me, it was so nice and clean and was a joy to shop there, but over the past year, it had become a dump - everything was crammed in and was a mess. The main office replied back that they'd sent my email on to the store. They responded with a nice email thanking me for taking the time to comment and said a $25 gift card was waiting on me at the service desk the next time I came in. I've also called grocery stores and complimented checkers who were pleasant and efficient.

Hey Scuzz....I'm with cluelessincolorado. You said your home is eclectic and the island is certainly large. Mix it up! Think about how you will use it; consider where you need what type of surface and use the existing tones to choose zones. Zinc or stainless would work well with the stainless/brushed nickel fittings- or- the kit could handle a little white- or - wood to warm it up. IF you do mix, use only two surfaces and make certain one is a solid (ie stainless & marble, white dekton & wood, the existing quartz color & zinc) Beautiful job, BTW. In both layout and decor, it's a room I'd love working and just spending time in.

I know you posted this quite some time ago but I just want to tell you how much I appreciated you taking the time to ask this question and that so many people took the time to answer! Surprisingly enough, I had a very difficult time trying to search this on Google and most links said something like "who wants a puzzle thats missing a piece?". As the owner of a lifetime of frisky cats and dogs, it is always a rare occasion for me to have all the pieces at the time of completion. As a perfectionist it used to DRIVE ME INSANE but now I just consider it a win when I'm only missing one or two. They usually show up in the craziest spots days, weeks, even months later lol I've actually started to enjoy trying to figure out which puzzle they belong to. I think this means a very busy winter for me. Gotta rebuild them all again just to see if any are missing ROFL if it's none or the numbers low - donate but too many and I'm definitely going to try out some of those crafting ideas or give them to some crafting friends!!! Now that I've literally told you my entire lives story I just wanted to thank you for taking the chance and asking this question! You have officially made a difference in someone's life just by posting on a forum

In the past 5 years I've decided not to accept substandard anything. I still can't believe that so many companies really do stand behind their products and more than make up for any problems...yay! Always email, phone, snail-mail...you will most likely get results.

Shea...I think even if all the pieces had been there it would have been the hardest puzzle we've ever done.
The pieces all looked so much alike and many would fit in several places and look like they belonged.

We had that happen a few years ago - there were pieces we never did find. Very maddening to spend all that time putting one together only to get to the end and the pieces aren't all there.

i had the same thing happen to me, but not all the pieces contained in one area. i can't recall but it was 7 or 9 pieces missing.

i wrote to the company, sent a picture and hoped for the pieces. instead i got the same puzzle and many others with a letter of apology.

although i can't remember who made the puzzle, but it was made in the USA. based on their response, they sure took customer service very serious.

that's a great puzzle. i love them, so therapuetic.

Oh how nice, earthlydelights. A lot of companies respond very generously in those situations, I hope that is the case for Patti also. Patti, my sister loves puzzles (I do too), and one year for Christmas I gave her one of those two-sided puzzles. I think she was cussing me the whole time she did it, said it was almost impossible!

I've never seen a two sided puzzle...we have enough trouble with a one sided...LOL..Although I will say we've had puzzles that we'd get done in a couple days...

This one was really hard. I won't tell you how long the card table has been sitting in the dinning area...way too long.

Patti, that looks like such a neat puzzle. I'm sorry that you were missing pieces though. I really love putting puzzles together, but now with 4 cats, I can't do it anymore. I've tried the mat that you roll the puzzle up, but that doesn't work at all. and i've tried laying a sheet over the puzzle when I'm not working on it and weighting it down iwth a few things, but the darn cats still manage to jump on it and make pieces fly everywhere. A few Christmases ago, my mom got me the neatest mickey mouse mosaic puzzle and I've tried to start it, but the cats destroy it everyt time. So it is sitting in my closet. I wanted to put it together and glue it so bad. It would have looked so neat to hang up.
Hope they send you a new puzzle soon.

When you write them, ask for a replacement one that is different than the one you just did, but that you want one equally as challenging. No sense in doing the same one twice!

Or maybe you could return it to the store where you bought it, Patti?

How disappointing! Those puzzles take so long to put together, and it is so much fun to put in that last piece and view the picture that you spent so much time on. I sure hope the company makes it right for you.

We used to do puzzles when I was a child and it would take days sometimes, but we worked on them as a family and it was fun.

When we do puzzles (which is not very often) it is almost a competition....We'll find a spot that looks like it would be easy to find...but isn't...So the hunt begins to see who finds it first...

I love to Naw naw naw, naw , naw naw him...hehe

Are there any other games or puzzles you like to do together or as a family.

We like Backgammon, Tripoley (sp?)and the two of us sit here at the computer and play games like Nancy Drew,Agatha Christy and Sherlock Holmes.
