I've had similar situations with my dog (due to incontinence from medical problems). I have a microfibre couch, and the instructions say not to use anything on it. But I just had to, because of the stink of urine and the stain. Anyway, I use Nature's Miracle for any type of dog stain (urine, saliva..), and the couch still looks like new. Why don't you test the Nature's Miracle on a spot on the chair (or ottoman) that doesn't show and see what happens? Good luck!

Hi Tracey! I've been wondering how you and Casey are doing. I don't have great advice on this subject (I don't think), but that's a tough one! I don't think disposable diapers would work though, my DD is in a size 5 (pretty big in the diaper world) and it's not that big and tends to curl up. A better choice might be chux pads- I think that's what they are called. They are those disposable, absorbant pads they put under your rear when you go to the GYN. I think you can probably buy them at a medical supply store or maybe online. Are you around during the day? I.e. could you clean up after her real quick before the house is to be shown? When my old guy was in bad shape, he could not climb into the deep litter box, so we gave him a shallow one that he ended up peeing over the edge. I just stuck old bath towels around the pan, and kept the washer full of soapy water. A few times a day I'd pick up the old towel, toss them in the washing machine, wipe down the floor with a cleaner, and put new towels down. Then I'd run the laundry load about once a day. It wasn't that much work, and spared the dignity of all involved. A thought on your kitty's overactive bladder though... my mom was telling me recently that when people use the bathroom often (by choice), they end up not building bladder tone and capacity and can essentially end up with a bladder that NEEDS to be emptied frequently. I wonder if Casey got into the habit of peeing so often, from problems, that her bladder eventually lost the muscle tone and capacity that most cats have? Just a theory, nothing else. My CRF cat is only eating dry food these days. It's frustrating, but all she will eat. I understand where you are coming from on the food front. *sigh*

I'm not a nutritionist by any means but yeah, you want high animal protein, low carbs and moisture (not from the water bowl). My switch was initially for the intention of getting more water into my cats. You can ask everyone for best food recommendations and you'll get a dozen different responses. IMHO, a properly balanced raw diet is probably the absolute best choice but that's just my opinion and lots of others will tell you different. Most of us prefer commercial and that's what I feed. The more expensive commercial foods are better than what you're picking up at the market. This is primarily due to the ingredients. Take a look at your Friskies ingredients compared to Nature's Variety and you'll see the difference. I had mill kittens and had to deal with both infections and food intolerance. It was an honest to goodness nightmare not having any experience with cat issues. That's where my suggestions are all coming from. I know I had to give 2 special antibiotics (at the same time) for Giardia (and had to do it twice) and then a completely different rx for Tritrich. So, the medicine you are giving may very well be the wrong medicine to kill a particular parasite if in fact they are still infected with something. Only your vets going to be able to tell what parasite they might have. Unfortunately, pets come into the shelter with the unknown. If they had interaction with other cats (although it doesn't sound like it) then they could also have picked up something from the others. I hate to see if go through all the food experiments if it's only a bug causing the diarrhea. I don't know what meds he gave you or if it's something that might require a double dose. If that isn't necessarily the case, I'd ask to have a sampling sent out. Otherwise, why do a second round of ineffective meds and then have to test and treat again with different meds? Now you're talking weeks of discomfort. But, if you're just going to take a shot in the dark here and try to correct this with diet, I'd select a limited ingredient food just to start out with. Get a firm stool and then work from there. You can get some from the vets office that have limited ingredients to help determine food intolerance. The link below has a good selection of over-the-counter foods you could browse through ingredients (it's a pain at the store) most are often available in pet specialty shops. You're not going to be able to make any kind of determination about food with just a serving or two so exercise some patients before trying a different food. Well the sticky stuff seems to be keeping her away from the furniture but she doesn't seem to have settled on any of the desired scratching devices. She's tearing up a runner in the hallway which is okay because I'm replacing it. Though I need to get her onto a desire scratching device before that. No interest in the sisal/carpet scratching post. I also bought those horizontal cardboard scratchers and a hanging fabric one - thought that would be most like the furniture. No interest in that either. She has scratched on the cardboard thing a couple times but mostly she just sits on it. Everything came with catnip so I've loaded all the scratchers up with that. It attracts her to them but doesn't inspire her to scratch them. I also got her (and the other cats) a giant cat tree. Thought she might scratch on that as well as climb it. So far just climbing and playing. I was amazed to find my big ole' no front claws Siamese cat on the top of the thing yesterday. I was feeling bad for him because he wouldn't get to play on it like the new kitty with all her claws but he quickly proved me wrong. Hopefully she will get this figured out soon as DH was very annoyed to find her scratching his very expensive stereo speakers. She even scratched the sticky stuff partway off that. And being on blood thinner, he's also not fond of her use of claws when playing. I do think that can be managed though with the clipping which I will hopefully get much better at than I am now.
