Doggie (or other pet) nicknames

It seems I have always managed to come up with many nicknames for my pets, and thought it would be neat to share them and have others share any funny nicknames they have.

Jasper (saint bernard) - aka: Jaz, Jazzy, Jazzyfizzle, Big Head, Biggy, Big Boy

Jynx (black lab) - aka: Jynxy, Easy (most laid back puppy I've ever seen), Buddy, Jynxmeister

Brandy (hound) - aka: Bandy, Brandygirl, Sweety, Mouth (my oh my can she bay, LOUDLY), and Band-aide (don't ask me why, I think it was a slip of the tongue one day and it just stuck, lol).

Jasper (orange tabby) Jasper Casper (aren't nick names supposed to be SHORTER? it rhrymes so that's what I use!) or Jaspmeister... and when he's getting into trouble (climbing the blinds or something of that sort) a stern loud "YOUNG MAN!" He'll stop in his tracks if I say that because it usually means a squirt from the spray bottle will soon follow. When I was in high school I had a ball python that I named Sharikarakuru! Wasn't a nick name, but that's what I called her. Don't ask... I was 17!

Tabasco-aka Basco (It's what I call him when he's in trouble or won't come),basker,basker boo,beekers (my son and daughter's nickname for him.)My husband calls him Beevis sometimes when he does something silly.I truly think he is totally confused to what his name really is sometimes! None for our dane Anabelle....yet!-Smile

Barnmom's suggestions reminded me of my own dog's name, so I have to tell the story. My children were about 7 years old when we were searching for a sable colored collie. We had gone to a collie show and we saw a collie named "Topaz". My son thought that was really cool and said "Mom, when we get our collie I want to name her Tanzanite because you love that stone." Well, the rest of us tried to explain to him that Topaz was a great name for a sable colored dog because a topaz is brown colored, but Tanzanite would be kind of silly because they are blue-ish. He kept insisting and we just rolled our eyes and figured we'd deal with it when we finally found a dog. Several months later our breeder called and said she had a litter with a sable female that she could sell to us because she had a fleck of blue in her eye and she could not be shown. My son was thrilled and we all agreed that Tanzanite was the perfect name since she has a Tanzanite in her eye. We call her Tanzi and know that she was meant for our family. We love the blue in her eye.

Our dogs feet all smell like fritos and they have no corn at all in their food. Thanks for sharing that. Do they Nancy? Interesting. I only remember that smell with a lot of corn in the mix of foods. To the poster being you said the dog is chewing and licking it's feet you have a problem. I'd tell your mom the dog should be seen and the problem addressed, that can be very bothersome and quite painful to the dog if it's not taken care of. It's either allergies food or atopy or an immune problem.

Chicken and rice is a great way to help settle tummies. I suggest feeding a cup and a half of chicken and rice in the Am and the same in the pm, later you will want to up the amount you feed your dog - but for now until you pick a food, that should be good. Pumpkin is great stuff, not too much tho. I feed my dog 2 cups of mixed food twice a day, he is a free feeder and supplements his regular food when he gets really hungry like after we have been out doing alot of running around, he likes cookies (biscuits - dog bones) and likes natural balance meat sticks, which we cut up once a week and toss in an area the dogs frequent when they are extra hungry - they often let the meat stick dry out to the consistency of jerky before eating it...go figure. They are all healthy and happy. You can give the dog all of the chicken except cooked bones, they should eat more than just white meat...Good luck with your new pup

'QQ - why would you not let someone have keys to your house? If you had a petsitter, surely it would have to be someone you trust.' I inherited this trait from my mother. She's had the same cleaning lady come once a week for the past 15 years and hasn't once left her alone in their condo. I guess I just don't trust anyone enough even though there may be many trustworthy people and have IP cameras scattered through the house anyway that I could watch remotely. 'Someone posted about a Petsmart hotel or something. Does anyone have more info? I would like to share with those who travel and would want to take their pet with them.' You've heard of Petsmart of course, well at select locations they have Petshotel (That's the brand like Banfield hospital) built in to the store. There's one near me, not the closest petsmart but the second closest and let me tell you... it is nice. You walk into a separate lavishly appointed lobby. The deluxe suites which are only $30 a night each have their own TV set and ceramic tile with real walls and a nice door. None of this chainlink, animal shelter motif... (This is for dogs by the way not dogs and people LOL)... They will come play and excercise with the dogs and even let you talk to them over the phone but the most important ammenity of all is the fact that it's staffed 24 hours a day and they have the banfield hospital on the other side of the store in case there is a medical emergency. The only feature they don't have is the web cam thing that many kennels have now but they said it's in the works. I just haven't found any boarding kennel, including my vet to come anywhere close to Petshotel for the money. So if you go on a business trip or something along those lines you could use Petshotel since it's a reputable company but if there's a petshotel where you're going you also have the flexibility to come and visit when you get a chance. sharon_ga, Don't hold out on us, is there such a place or no? Resin is rezo, resie, resie-poo (Boyfriend calls her Fat sh!t cat)
Coda is Cocheese, coda-bear, Coda-moda, or fatty when she starts to get chubby sometimes.
Ponch is poncho, raunchy-ponchy, rauncho's, Ponchy-poo.

Tatyana Mashenka (husky)- Tatya, Tattie (a kid in my neighborhood can't say Tatya), Pointy nose, Jumping Bean or just Bean (usually when she wants to go out- she jumps about 4 feet straight up by the door)
K'Ehleyr (rottie)- K, Miss K, Big Girl
Max (lab)- Maximum Headroom (when he isn't being so smart- there's a lot of empty space in that big head of his), Buddy
Zack (amazon parrot)- grouchy old man- he earned that at school
Riki-tiki-tavi (ferret)- Tavi usually, but also Stinky Weasel Thief (that's what the scientific name for ferret genus and species tranlates to)

My dear mom is weird in a wonderful way. Anyhow, she named all her children after plants. My eldest brother's name is Cole. Much to his dismay, he was nicknamed Collie by his friends & fellow students when he was younger. Does that count?

Karli - Mini or Midget (she is about half the size we thought she would be), & the Blur or Flash because she runs so far so fast!
Little Bit - Fatty (for obvious reasons).

We have 2 man-kitties (brothers)
Elmo - Mo, Mo-Mo, Mo-Mo-Head, Beacon (when he goes into another room and yells for any/everyone to come to him - he did this as a baby to gather his feline family), little bear, Big man, Mama's love, Sugar (he's diabetic)

Monty - Monty-man, Little man, handsome, baby-boy, scootch (cause he is one - this may be regional), lover-man ('cause he'll cuddle up real close to my face in the morning and give kisses and bites), the hairdresser (cause he kneads my hair to comfort himself - has since he was a wee kitten)

(S.O. gave him these :])Tit, Tittybaby, Crybaby, Mama's Boy, Boobie-Bogartin' S.O.B. (he nuzzles in my boobs - I think he's got a Mommy complex or something), Teether (when we rough-play, he won't bite - just barely nibbles the skin with his front teeth - HURTS! :P)and....

*ahem* 'boy-part'-blocker. (We don't actually say 'boy-part', but it's quite crude, so I didn't spell it out... use your imagination.)He got that one because he's the only one that's supposed to get Mommy's affection. Period. If Mommy and Daddy are less than two feet away from eachother, he squeezes in the middle. Jealousy, anyone?

Wow. A lot of nicknames.... I'm suprised he comes to 'Capone' anymore :)

Disclaimer: all name-calling is in fun, and the only time the dog gets his feelings hurt is when he's called gruffly to get him away from a chew-toy that's started to deteriorate.
