Would you please vote and help this hospital?

Please take a few seconds and vote for this. It would be wonderful if Cuero Community Hospital had this for our area children when one of them has to be hospitalized. They are scared enough--just being in the hospital. Hopefully these fun centers would help to take their minds off the "scary part". You can vote every day--please take the time....

Colgate/Palmolive is having a contest for a "fun center" through the Starlight Starbright Childrens Foundation. A "fun center" is a flat screen TV with DVD and a Nintendo Wii that is mobile so that it can be used at the bedside for children who are ill and in the hospital. Our hospital here in rural Cuero could really use a couple of these "fun centers" so we need all the votes we can get. You can vote once everyday until the deadline. Any and all votes would really be appreciated. Go to www.colgate.com/starlight click Texas on the map and vote for Cuero Community Hospital.

I dont want to rock the boat or cause a big issue. With that being said. Here it goes. With urban sprawl taking over the whole area what do you expect. I grew up just a few miles from there. I used to live on garretts mill road. I could say the same thing you are saying about the tower about the houses in the picture. Ten years ago they were not there. Just like all the house to the right of the picture that are not showed. It used to be fields and woods. I dont get it. Masses of people move to the undisturbed country and then complain when the country becomes the city. Get used to it. Its only going to get worse. Look at Brunswick. Small town. Now there is a 1500 house development going in. Small town is no longer small. Wait ten years and there will be no more farms from that picture to DC. But who's to blame???? I dont have an answer to that. Cant blame the hard working farmers that are working their butts off and sitting in a gold mine worth millions in the real estate market. IMO opinion its the "city" folk that want to live in the country. Driving up housing prices. Making our commute worse. Turning our small towns and country living into urban disaster. Look at Louden County VA. Wow has that places changed. What in the world is this area turning into???? I dont know. Thats why I moved North. The sprawl it not nearly as bad up here in PA as it is back "home". Its not even really home anymore. I remember when the Golden Mile in Frederick was farm land and Im not even old......yet. My comments are not directed at the OP at all. Just venting some issues I have with the area.

So it is two to two right now!! It is hard to decide these things. Sask..girl- Our vanity that will get the new counter is the dark green one... the last one before the faucets. Jenny, It is really quite simple to to make them. You just need some time and patience. We made the mold out of melamine and the bottom side we used for the top of the counter... so.... smooth almost like glass. you mix the concrete mix and pour in about half the amount and then use a type of barbed wire... it has been a while so cannot remember but will find out. Then you pour the rest. The rebar helps hold it all together. It really is like making a cake really... but on a bigger scale! : )

How would you paint this soffit? Please vote....

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to paint the whole soffit grey and leave the ceiling white at first, since like Sheesharee I'd prefer some contrast in this room. If it calls too much attention to the soffit and weirdly shaped ceiling, I can paint it grey afterwards. Les, I realized when I posted the pic that the soffit was almost screaming for a recessed light (oddly didn't think of that while actually standing in the room). Unfortunately, I don't think there's room in the soffit.

I voted a few minutes ago. Hope your hospital wins! Anything that makes the time pass a little quicker in a childs hospital stay is great IMO!

I voted and seemed like it let me vote for one here in Mo. and one in Ca.(my old living place). Didn't reject any of them so looks like you can vote once in each state. Too bad it says the voting ends the 31st.

I'm glad you brought this back up because I had forgot to vote today. As of 1pm today Cuero was in a very close 2nd place. Hopefully they will come out ahead.

I didn't realize this, but this is what I read about the hospital contest.

Every participating hospital will receive a Fun Center.
Check back April 3rd to find out which hospital in each geography will receive a second Fun Center.

That is so cool that each hospital will receive a Fun Center!
