Please vote on which look you prefer:off white cabinets/hw/faucet
Comments (5)I persobally love ORB as well as white cabinets. I have painted white cabinets with ORB knobs, pulls, lights and faucet. Stainless/nickel also looks great on white but it's a different look. There's not as much contrast between the two but it has a fresh light feel to it. I have brushed stainless bar pulls on my outdoor kitchen which has dark wood cabinets. As for the finish on the ORB, if it's what they call a "living finish" it will wear with age to a nice patina on the areas that get handled. Some of my faucets have this finish, the kitchen and master bath precisely. They're acually oil rubbed copper so the worn areas are a copper color instead of a bronze color. I chose this because I have several copper accents throughout my home. The powder room vessel sink is copper and the accent on the knobs on my stove are as well. As for ORB knobs, pulls and faucets with a sealed finish, I think they hold up as well as any other color. I have Moen ORB in my kids' bathrooms and they look just as new as they did three years ago. BTW I have ORB (copper) on my white farmhouse sink and it looks great....See MorePlease vote-which do you like better?
Comments (44)well I have to go with the corals since I have a 6yr old and if there is not some kind of pink in there she would freak out and wouldn't have anything to do with it. (personally I LOVE the greens and blues) which is what we had in her nursery but she turned 3 and her brain turned to pink and pink only which meant we had to turn around and redo her room.. Lesson learned...See MorePlease vote - which granite do you like more with my cabinets?
Comments (54)This is sort of like asking what everyone's favorite ice cream is...but I really like the first one best. I think it has a quiet elegance about it with your cabinets and you could have more fun with the backsplash and accessories. To my eye, the second one is too mustardy, but then I did everything I could to keep from getting a lot of yellow in my granite, while I am sure there are others here who strove for that as a goal. So I guess I'm not much help... P.S. I laughed when I read your comment about your husband getting tired of all the indecisiveness and losing the will to live. My husband and I were in Lowes and I was stressing over picking out door hardware...Paul kept telling me to "hurry up and pick something out and let's go!" Finally I snapped back at him and said something like "Just because YOU don't care if the kitchen looks like it was thrown together without any thought... well I do!" Then he said "It only took me fifteen seconds to pick out the garbage disposal!" At which point, I almost pushed him down in the hardware aisle and I spat "Dear God, no one SEES the #@*# garbage disposal!" That was the closest we have come to actual remodeling violence, but I just had to share... Good luck on the counters and have fun! :) Cathy...See MoreWhich layout do you prefer? Please Vote
Comments (32)lisa- Thank You for throwing it out there. I like to look at different ideas b/c in the end once we decide we'd like to feel confident that we explored our options! I thought the basement part might work but right away my dh pointed out that it makes it really hard to bring large things downstairs with the curve. (We have that now and its very difficult) In the Dining Room, would those buffets have cabinetry above for dish storage, etc? I like it b/c I was thinking tall cabinetry without the counter space but that would be nice : ) I definitely "get" what you're saying about banquettes not being for everyone. We plan to be here 10 years and if that works out maybe much longer. My husband and I do like the banquette idea especially b/c it keeps the area open from kitchen to DR and it's just a different "look" for us. We'd only use the bench side when we have a larger amount of people. That being said we're still open to not doing it if we think it won't work. Also, couldn't a new buyer just take out the built in seat if they don't like it and turn it back to a traditional DR? I'm not asking that sarcastically but it wouldn't seem the worst of things. OR- we could do a separate piece of furniture that's not built in too right? I think someone said Ballard has them. IF anyone sees others let me know. I know they have great fabrics that are kid friendly too : ) I wonder how long they come? THANKS EVERYONE! I so love this : )...See Moremitri89
