Please vote on which look you prefer:off white cabinets/hw/faucet

I'd like to mix oil rubbed bronze and stainless. I was originally thinking oil rubbed bronze faucet and stainless pulls on our brookhaven alpine white cabs.

I was really inspired by jbrodie's kitchen here, though, and now I am considering swapping--stainless/nickel/chrome faucet w/ bronze cabinet hardware. I don't know if hers "pops" so well due to the dark wall color? We are looking at more of a medium beige for walls (quincy tan, perhaps).

Another factor is our sink is a white farmhouse, centered under a pre-finished large-ish pella window with white hardware. I don't know if a bronze faucet will contrast too much with the window and sink. (I am thinking a vintage bridge style with rounded spout, but faucet is tbd).

If you have an opinion on which looks work, I'd love to hear it!

We are having a similar discussion about our new kitchen. One thing I wonder about is how the ORB finish on a heavily used kitchen faucet will hold up. I realize many mfg's provide 'lifetime finish' warranties, but still, it is going to cost you some money to have a plumber come out and install a replacement faucet. So does the finish hold up for say at least 5 years? We have pretty much decided to mix finishes. I was advised to keep the lights one finish and the faucets/cabinet hardware the other. So for example, perhaps ORB lighting, and then faucet and hardware would all be stainless. Thanks for asking this. I'm curious to see the responses.

I persobally love ORB as well as white cabinets. I have painted white cabinets with ORB knobs, pulls, lights and faucet.

Stainless/nickel also looks great on white but it's a different look. There's not as much contrast between the two but it has a fresh light feel to it. I have brushed stainless bar pulls on my outdoor kitchen which has dark wood cabinets.

As for the finish on the ORB, if it's what they call a "living finish" it will wear with age to a nice patina on the areas that get handled. Some of my faucets have this finish, the kitchen and master bath precisely. They're acually oil rubbed copper so the worn areas are a copper color instead of a bronze color. I chose this because I have several copper accents throughout my home. The powder room vessel sink is copper and the accent on the knobs on my stove are as well.

As for ORB knobs, pulls and faucets with a sealed finish, I think they hold up as well as any other color. I have Moen ORB in my kids' bathrooms and they look just as new as they did three years ago.

BTW I have ORB (copper) on my white farmhouse sink and it looks great.

Black, your kitchen needs grounding and also there appears to be a hint of black in your countertops which will look so great. I think your kitchen is very charming and stainless steel might take that charming look to a more sleek look.

I am sure at least some of you know how I have been sitting dead in the water regarding flooring and cabinet stain choices for at least 2 months. Even when I feel great about what I am doing, inevitably I end up feeling terrible again about it. It's truly a nightmare and I just wish I could walk away from the whole thing. So since I am having so much trouble, maybe I should switch my choices and end this paralyzation. Please vote if you think I should keep the original vision in #1 or abandon it for #2: Granite is Golden Beaches. My actual slab: Those unfortunately are not the cabinet doors. Mine are birch and raised panel. I have two painted pieces in my kitchen also (cream color with glaze): a hutch and a display bookshelf piece. Please vote. I have no photos because neither of these samples have been worked up by the finisher even though they have worked up about 5 samples for me by now. UG. 1. CURRENT CHOICE - NATURAL HICKORY FLOOR Cabinet stain in a caramel color that matches the darker caramel in the hickory. Light colored slate in nearby fireplace, coffee table, and possibly in backsplash. Designer has met with me 4 times now to assure me that it's going to be beautiful, and she has done hickory projects before. Very earthy and Pacific Northwesty. I am in the PNW foothillls in a very traditional style neighborhood and home. Very concerned it will end up looking like a lodge or just too busy. 2. NEW CHOICE - NATURAL WHITE OAK FLOOR The cabinet door would be adjusted to something that went well with the granite. Maybe like one of the doors up against the granite slab in the photo. Concerned it might be a bit humdrum and boring, and worst of all already outdated, especially since oak and busy granite are already yesterday's news according to some.

Thanks for the post, skmueller. So you are doing dark cabinets, but not as dark as the floor? I was thinking this might work in our case as well. Our flooring is verging on black, but there is dark brown tones in there and I thought we may be able to do our cabs that color. Do you have a picture that is similar to what you plan to do? I've been trying to find some good pictures showing a very dark wood floor with cabinets that are slightly lighter than the floor...not finding many. To go darker then our floor we'd basically have to do black, which is why we were thinking of doing white uppers. Personally, I'd like to do a very dark stain on all the cabs. Nothing against white paint, but it bothers me a bit that we'd be covering up the grain of the maple cabinets. If possible I think I'd still like to do all dark cabs with light paint, backsplash, and countertops.

Love #1. Kingston Brass? I have it but with the lever handles. It seems a good quality, is noted on the large side but not overly so, imo. That said, seeing your vanity etc I think the more tailored modified version of #3 is a better fit from what I can gather from your styling of the bathroom. It is simpler and more masculine, to the point like the handsome bath . #1 is quite feminine for the above bathroom, imo. I also think the sleek modern one at 17:43 would look good but like the feel of the other with the old world natural limestone. PS. The higher arcs are more comfortable, imo. I can't think of a reason why one would look better than the other. The ORB on the cream cabinets will definitely pop more, so if you want pop, go for it.

My own vote, for my own taste, would be the stainless knobs, for what it's worth, but that's because I like a little less contrast.

All excellent points!

Part of the problem is that is see SO many gorgeous kitchens, all of which make me think, "hmm, that would be nice!"

Good problem to have, huh?

I went with chrome pulls and knobs and faucet with my off-white cabinets, and I love the way it looks - it adds so much bling to the kitchen. I also love ORB - I'm doing all the hardware in the rest of my house in that finish (door handles, etc.) I was worried about mixing finishes like that, but I really like how it turned out.
