What;'s for dinner Thursday?

We're having taco salad tonight, thanks to Cheryl_OK. Nothing sounded good this morning until I read her post to Jasdkip. So thank you, Cheryl!

It's hot here this evening. I may have to turn on the AC in order to sleep. How's your weather and....what's for dinner at your house?

I've had the bedroom window ac unit on at night for a week now. Rain came, today, and nights will be in the 50's for a while.

Nikki's Downtown for my usual, but wah wah wah, they didn't have all of my usual.

Always have fried snapper fingers, spinach, hominy, but NOT hominy today, they ran out, so had baby green limas.

Tomorrow I'm gonna spend the day with gs, and he asked where we were going to eat, and I asked what he wanted and all he said was FOOD.

That's a 15 year old for ya.

Very easy dinner here, I'm heating, not cooking. I had an appointment in Olympia today and went to Costco after, Trader Joes, Bed Bath Beyond and stopped at a nursery I like...its early but they had some interesting shrubs and trees (and were busy, the sun was out and a pleasant afternoon). We're having the roast chicken soup that Costco makes from those chickens they roast, lots of chicken meat, just kind of torn and not chopped. Corn bread that I bought at Trader Joe's.

Audrey, we love grilled asparagus. Is it available already where you are? Raven every once in a while I crave tacos and taco salad. You made me crave it again. Gadgets, I'm out of fish, and it's something that we need to eat more often. Mind you, I took hubby out for fish and chips last Sunday and it cost me $50!! Pam I found some neat recipes for thighs that I'm going to try this weekend. I finally convinced hubby that thighs taste good! Satine, Greek food and good friends. A perfect match. GM, you eat so well, either out or at home. Rhizo, it's a change not to see you post your healthy rice and beans, quinoa mix etc. Your pizza sounds great. Did you put it on the barbecue?

Well, I woke up this morning and hubby had 2 pounds of ground beef and 1 pound of sausage thawing in the refrigerator. Cans of tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and tomato paste were on the kitchen counter next to the stove. I took a guess that was a pretty good hint that he was ready for another big pot of spaghetti sauce. We had a huge shrimp salad, spaghetti, and garlic bread.

Jasdip, we put a big pork butt on the grill over the weekend and enjoyed it with a pile of slaw. It's a full day commitment but seemed like a good Labor Day weekend project. Last night, I made a garlicky, gingery chicken stir fry with lots of fresh vegetables, served with brown rice and toasted almonds. I don't know why I don't make something like that more often, it's a favorite.

Couldn't wait--had to turn the air on. It was 83 inside. I have a feeling it's going to be a long, hot summer.

Your dinner sounds much better with the baby limas, Glenda. Definitely not a fan of hominy! Have fun with GS tomorrow. Better stop by the nearest ATM, those young GS's can eat you out of house and home. It's amazing how much my DGS Alex can eat and still stay so thin! He just turned 16.

Your dinner sounds really good, too Jas. I guess the "k" stands for "kneading". You were making bread today, right? Sorry couldn't think of anything else :-)

Something new, I bought some really good looking beef ribs cut into about 5" sections very meaty, so I put them into the slow cooker with chopped onions and bbq sauce with a little yellow mustard to add some twang. They are smelling great. Will steam some broccoli to go with it, and sliced tomatoes.

I had the other stuffed pepper I'd thawed out yesterday. Needed to get in another vegetable today so nuked a sweet potato.

We had hot dogs grilled outside and cucumber salad. I live in northern NY- amazing temps of 80+ for days.

Finished up the ditalini pasta shrimp salad with toasted multi grain bread and some carrot sticks. Oh so good.

Hot but storm is brewing looking at all the clouds. We had egg, rice, cheese and cabbage over rice.

Ravencajun, I have some beef ribs in the freezer--think I'll copycat your recipe. Not so crazy about beef ribs but they were on sale at some point.

Gadgets, you put me to shame because you always seem to eat so healthy. Need to take some lessons from you!!

Pam, nothing tastes better than a well-done (as in blackened) hot dog from the grill. Love cucumber salad too. I make mine in a creamy sauce with dill, but like the vinegar onion cucumber salad, too. How do you make yours?

Georgysmom, I'll sure be glad when you're home--miss you so much here!! I read in your other post about being tired of eating out and understand that feeling. Although I could use about a week of it right now. This hot weather makes me lose my appetite. Not that THAT would be a bad thing since I have 15 pounds to lose.

Kathleen, we had rain sometime in the night and it was cool and breezy this morning. It felt wonderful, but warmed up fast. Hope you're feeling better. I had to turn the air on because it was making me feel a little queasy and knew I wouldn't sleep with it so hot. When I turned it on, it was 83 inside. Groan!

temp was 61 here today here in SD. We had leftover Prime Rib with a salad and toast for supper. It was really good. I brought it home from work.

I agree with you I normally only buy pork ribs but they were on sale and looked really good, I will let you know how they turn out.
