I purchased 2 high arc faucets for our 10" deep sinks (undermounted) 3 1/2 years ago based on functionality---it had nothing to do with aesthetics since I didn't particularly care for the look (although, because they ARE so great, I've come around to loving the look.) I would never go back to a low profile faucet again. Splash: When my faucet is in stream mode, there is less force and no more splash than any other faucet (even with items held close to the faucet.) When in spray mode there is more force and more splash but that is what sprayers are designed for. I love being able have both hands free while the water is in spray mode while I scrub veggies or pare them. I tend to squirt myself when using a separate hand held sprayer a lot more often since it has to be handled constantly rather than being fixed. Could the same model faucet have different splash factors in different houses based on the water pressure or is the differences in water pressure negated by flow restrictors within the faucet? Reading over the above responses, it seems that complaints about splash has nothing to do with the distance the water is falling but more to do with people holding things up out of the sink (where the splash can be contained.) I get wet arms once in a while. But I did with my old low profile 1960's or 70's Delta faucet too. I'll reach under a stream of water when I'm not thinking. I get a wet shirt when I do dishes but I did with the old faucet also. It has nothing to do with the faucet. It's because I get the strip of counter in front of the sink wet when I'm handling wet dishes and then I lean into that strip. I hated manipulating my large pots around my old faucet. The low faucet also made bathing my babies in the sink difficult--once in a while they got jabbed by it. So for me, the high arc faucet design makes a lot of sense. Too late for baby bathing though since my kids are now teens. And don't forget, if a faucet is making your life miserable, it's a relatively inexpensive and easy thing to change out. I realize every dollar counts and none of us want to create unnecessary waste, but you don't have to be stuck with it forever. Chances are you will love the high arc faucet when you have it (I'm assuming it has a pull down feature?)

Ames is dry now except for the Hilton Coliseum where they are still pumping water out. We are supposed to get more rain by Friday or Saturday. I haven't been swimming since last Tuesday and the aquatic center will be closed for a few more days. Darn, I miss swimming. Yesterday when I went to lunch with friends, one room of the restaurant was filled with ServiceMaster employees on their lunch hour. They were brought in from other states to help clean the Hilton and other buildings.

Start by asking your contractor what's going on instead of guessing at their thought process. Beyond that, it's hard to say what's going on with a text description. BUT think of it like this - you want to shed water away from the pool. You also want water to shed away from the house. Those goals are often in direct conflict with one another. One way we handle that is with a channel drain at the low point, which is the simplest because it doesn't require compound slopes. Or we'll do one or two floor drains, and create almost a gentle "basin" slope to each drain. They needn't be ugly; I found these guys on Houzz and their custom drains are stunning: https://designerdrains.com/ I have to think cutting the bond beam down is the absolute last thing anyone would want to consider.

SOLVED: From a suggestion from my wife, this was solved. She suggested the possibility that our landlord had branched off the water line for another rental. I turned off the water at the meter and yes, the neighbors water went off. I texted the landlord, he was not aware of it being done. He called his plumbing people & sometime about 10 years ago they had done it. So later today I'll dig up the split, take pictures & text them to landlord. Tomorrow he is bringing a water crew out and reimbursing my money. The other issue, charging sewer when on septic. I turned the mayor into the comptroller and I turned loose a swarm of bees. The mayor does not have the authority and state law does not apply to renters. That is now in the hands of lawyers and State politicians. But in a few days my water bill will be realistic. The mayor is also using the fantom sewer charge in an inconsistent manner. That will be looked at. I've had so many interviews and the alderman have called emergency meetings that something will change.
