Cold, windy and dreary!

Drove down to Nikki's West by the farmers market expecting to get to the cafeteria line quickly, but was I wrong.

Ended up getting fried boneless chicken breast and spinach salad, far cry from my sausage/sauerkraut and layer salad.

Wish I had gotten my usual!

I fixed fried cod, mashed potatoes, and green beans. I also prepared some beef for another meal and made some gravy that I put over my potatoes.

Nothing wrong in stocking up your freezer, Patti, as long as it doesn't go to waste.

DH and I went to Red Lobster for lunch (shrimpies!). Still full from that, so will just have cereal and toast for supper.

I made these Pan Fried Daikon Cakes. It was my first experience with cooking daikon. I liked the cakes, but can't say I was as enthusiastic as the recipe reviewers. I used less salt and less oil, and would recommend cutting both down.

I'm going to have a bratwurst burger on homemade bread, and leftover sauteed green pepper and onion, and leftover roast cauliflower. I made green chiles corn bread this afternoon, and shouldn't eat anything after munching on that.

I made breaded chicken breasts, roasted carrots and heated up leftover scalloped potatoes. Everything in the oven; handy and super-good.

Scalloped potatoes just get better when they are re-heated don't they? (;o

Glenda, I think the lunch you had sounds really good, but then you know me and sauerkraut! Were they out of 7-layer salad?

Shirley, we have to start eating more fish. Don't know why we don't, 'cause we have plenty and Harry'd eat it every night. I have a Food Saver which keeps food fresh as new in the freezer for at least 1 year--2 is probably more like it. Great investment!

Alisande, was the daikon hot at all? The recipe sounds really good but I've never done anything with daikon either. They sure look good. I like a little heat, but not an eye-watering hot.

Phyllis, no calories on weekends--isn't that right? Dinner at your house sounds delish! Wish I had a better grip on making bread. Yours always makes my mouth water!

Bigack, don't even talk to me about Red Lobster. I eat so many of those doggone cheese biscuits I could go a week without eating again! Lawsy, how I love them!

it was 29 this morning but around 50 something now..DS just brought me a chicken salad sandwich fries and sweet tea from Chic a fil wont have to worry about what to eat later still half a sandwich in the fridge !!

Jasdip, I don't know if I'm just grateful I don't have to cook or that most things really do taste better the next day! Either way, leftovers rock!

Minnie, your son is a keeper! That was so sweet of him to do that for you. He has good taste for food!

I had pizza tonight.

We went out for dinner tonight with some friends. I had ribs, slaw and fries...not very healthy, but very good. DH had a steak sandwich and onion rings.

We went grocery shopping and stopped on the way to have Mexican food. Jody had quesadillas....I ate one of them, and I had a bowl of tortilla soup and a margarita.

It's just me tonight, so I heated up some left over butternut squash soup I made on Monday and an english muffin. Nothing fancy, but it was good.

I made chicken paprikash with real Hungarian paprika I had in my freezer. It was yummy with rice and a green spinach salad.
